He's a very small man, and in my mind he was a giant, because he was going to save me. My first thoughts were right, and he IS a giant. He's been nothing but kind and caring, and I highly recommend him to everybody.
Everybody that I've dealt with at his office has been kind, helpful and supportive.
There is nothing negative I could possibly say abut Dr, Kelly.
The one thing people shoudl know about him, is that there are so many of us waiting to see him, they're going to have to be aware that it will take many months.
The aftercare is made very important, with a set follow-up schedule.
Through the support group, he lets people know pretty much what to expect. He makes sure there are people at the support group meetings who can talk about their experiences. I went into this surgery feeling like I really knew what to expect, risk-wise.
Dr. Kelly's the best!

As of right now I haven't met Dr. Kelly.
I have actually just this moment sent him an initial email introducing myself and asking him to complete his personal and professional profile here on obesityhelp.com
and to view my profile here as well.
So far my hopes are high and I am encouraged by the rave reviews by others who have had the pleasure of being his patients.

I received a reply to my initial email to Dr. Kelly the very next day. I must say I was very impressed to have been given personal attention via email. I think this is a very important step in our Dr./Patient relationship.

My first impression was very good He is a very small man with a very large heart. He answers questions at the support groups for those considering the surgery and those who have had it. His staff is very professional and caring. He puts a very large emphesis on support after the surgery and follow up visits. Before you even see him you must meet with a nutritionist and behavioral therapist. He was very truthful about the risks in my case.I will rate him after I have more one on one with him next week.I am now post-op by two weeks. My surgeon was great and the followup very thorough. He was the best I could have looked for.

DR. KELLY IS PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING AND NEVER HURRIES YOU OUT OF THE OFFICE. HE HAS NEVER HURRIED ME AND ALWAYS ASKS IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. HE'S KIND AND REASSURING...THIS HAS NEVER CHANGED. HIS OFFICE SECRETARY IS OF THE SAME DEMEANOR, SHE ALWAYS IS PATIENT AND HELPFUL, AND DR. KELLY ANSWERS HIS PHONE MESSAGES USUALLY IN PERSON. THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT DR. KELLY. I WOULD ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO SEE HIM TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!! THE AFTERCARE IS IMPORTANT, AND HE'S AVAILABLE TO GET BACK TO YOU AND CONCERNS ARE TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. THE SUPPORT AND AFTERCARE ROUTINE IS BENEFICIAL AND THEY TRY TO TOUCH ALL BASES.
THEY TELL YOU ABOUT THE RISKS OF SURGERY AND EXPLAIN EVERYTHING IN DETAIL IN THE PRE-OP MEETINGS. I WOULD GIVE HIM A 10+ RATING OF 10 FOR OUTSTANDING...HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING AND IS A GREAT COMFORT TO THE PATIENT.
HIS BEDSIDE MANNER IS ALSO SUPER...AND ANY QUESTIONS HE LISTENS AND ACTS ON IMMEDIATELY.HE IS SUPER ALL AROUND.WHEN I WAS CONCERNED AND SORE, HE EXPLAINED IT WOULD TAKE TIME.

I was very impressed with Dr. Kelly first time I met him. He was very caring and knowledgable and made both myself and my husband feel comfortable. Anytime I had any concerns he was right there to answer my questions. His office staff always treated me with caring and respect. I truly feel he has given me a new lease on life. The support groups he holds monthly are wonderful. He reallt emphasized the importance of attending meetings both before and after surgery. My experience from what I have seen is the ones that attend on a regular basis are doing much better both physically and mentally with this additional support than those that stop going to meetings. Everyone is supportive of each other and are always willing to share their experiences both good and bad for others to learn from or relate to. He was very straight forward as far as the prssoble risk factors and encouraged you to use the web as a resource for more information. He wants his patients to be informed. They say no one is perfect but he is as close to it as I would ever expect to see. His surgical expertise and bed side manner were wonderful. After surgery I could e-mail him with any concerns that were non emergeny and he always got back to me on a timely basis. If I didn't hear from him it was because he was out of town. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and his staff to anyone.

I have been to 5 support meetings so far and find Dr. Kelly to be a very soft spoken man with a lot of patience. He takes the time to answer questions in laymans terms. He doesn't make you feel uneasy with any question that you may have. I have an appointment with Dr. Kelly on Nov. 14 and am looking forward to it.
I had my appointment with Dr.Kelly, he is a wonderful man with a good sense of humor. he was eager to answer any questions that I had or that my son or husband had.

My surgeon was Dr. John Kelly of UMass/Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA. A better guy, you cannot find. They say first impressions are the best judge of someone. My first impression of him (and my husbands) was that he was a kind, caring individual. He explained the risks as well as the positives of this surgery....didn't sugar coat anything (no pun intended!) If you are in the Worcester area and are looking for a good surgeon...get a referral to him...Dr. John Kelly! And he answers email questions you may have....I like that in a doctor. He was very supportive during my battle with the insurance company!! I have since learned that he is just as nice for after-care. Any questions I have...if they are not an 'emergency', then I will email him and he writes back right away!
