John Hagen Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr Hagen recently performed a laparoscopic lap band removal for me. I found him to be very professional but at the same time warm and friendly. He was willing to answer my questions, and he referred me to the Ontario Bariatric Network with no fuss after I told him I have a failed gastric bypass from 15 years ago. My passive aggressive family doctor had been refusing to refer me for over two years. My only issue was the waiting room and wait time in his office. For my first appointment I had to wait 2 hours past my appointment time. The wait room was overcrowded and people were forced to stand in the hallway outside the office. For the surgical followup appointment the wait room was still overcrowded but I only had to wait less than half an hour to see the doctor.

I am truly thankful for being in the care of Dr. John Hagen. I needed a revision and with his knowledge and genuine understanding of my health condition, concluded the revision should be RNY. Currently three months out and healthier and happier than I have ever been in my life. No more acid reflux, no more sleeping sitting upright for fear of choking in my sleep, no more GERD. I am able to eat solid food again and my health issues are all resolved.

I couldn't have been more happy with the care I received from Dr. Hagen. He did my RNY gastric bypass on Oct. 7, 2014. He was caring and compassionate with myself and my mother. He is very knowledgeable and was willing to answer all my questions. Best bed side matter I have ever seen. I would recommend him to anyone.

My personal experience has been good with Dr. Hagen, he has a very approachable Doctor, who has a very busy health care team. If you go to see him, go with your questions already written out to ask. When he has said call me if you have any problems and I did have to and he did return my messages.

Dr. Hagen was an amazing surgeon to have been assigned. When I first met with him, he seemed very rushed and was very quiet so I wasn't sure how to read him. I met with him a second time and he was very informative and seemed to have more time while at his own office than he did in the clinic. On the day of my surgery he was so great with me, he could tell that I was nervous and scared and he did his best to cheer me up and tell me that everything was going to be just fine, which it was, thanks to him and his amazing team! He checked in on me after surgery and explained everything to me so that I knew exactly what had gone on. Personally, I feel lucky to have been assigned to him upon referral to the program at Humber.

Dr.Hagen gave me a second chance at my life. When I found out who my surgeon was I was a little worried as that is my ex-husbands name and was not sure if it was going to be a good thing or bad. But I wanted this and after meeting with him I did not care about the name. What a amazing caring handsome man. He is the most kind understanding Dr. I have ever had the encounter of meeting.

Dr Hagen is a Fantastic Doctor, he is the best. Doctor Hagen treats you with the most respect , he explains everything and answers any questions that you may have, he makes time, even know he is a very busy doctor. I had my Surgery July 28/11, I never had a problem at all and I feel great.

Dr.Hagen is a very knowledgeable Dr. An expert in his field with excellent bedside manners. He visited me both days in the hospital and always had a kind word for me and was so sweet, patient and concerned when talking to me. He answered every question I had and really calmed my fears in the operating room. I missed my 2 week follow up with him and when i went to see the dietitian for my 1 month appt I asked if I could speak with Dr.Hagen just for the follow up I missed and within minutes I was in his office and he was checking out my incisions and weighing me. He is an awesome Dr and I would recommend him to anyone and would have no hesitation having him do any other surgery on me. I LOVE HIM...He is my new best friend lol.

Dr. Hagen is not only a capable, knowledgeable surgeon, he is also a surgeon with a fantastic bedside manner. Each step of the way, pre-operatively and during my hospital stay, Dr Hagen was kind, gentle and willing to answer questions. I really appreciated his caring manner and would recommend him to anyone!

My surgery was done on September 29th, 2011. I thought Dr. Hagan was a very good Dr. He provided me with the help and information I needed to successfully lose the weight before my surgery. Not only was he helpful but his bedside manner is amazing, he really truly cares about his patients!

I would recommend him to anyone, if he can do my future surgeries, than I am definitely getting him to do it, I trust him completely to do the best he can to make sure my surgery is successful so that I can recover quickly.
