My first impression of Dr. Nye was very good. He seemed like he had a large Ego, but I personally feel that was more of his confidence than his ego.
My only problem with Dr. Nyes office is that it is TOOOO crowded! Alot of MO patients can't stand for long periods of time and his office is so crowded that people must stand.
I met him a few years prior to my surgery, he was my fathers Dr.He is an angel! He saved my fathers life.Yes my impression changed over the past few months, now he is my angel. For without him I would not be here today!!!His staff is the greatest, especially his lovely wife Rose. There's nothing I don't like about him.If you choose Dr. Nye as your doctor you've made a wise decision! He treats you with respect and when he looks at you he doesn't see your weight,he sees you!!!!!!He wants you to continue seeing him and then on to the Bariatric Center. He's very straight forward with the risks and doesn't mind you asking him numerous questions. They say knowledge is power so ask him any question no matter how stupid you may think it is.I would have to rate him a 10+++++ His surgical ability is amazing and his bedside manner is like a friend coming to see you not your doctor.
Dc. Nye was very informative and approachable when I first met him. He truly expressed his surgical history and answered all my questions. His office staff is very nice, especially Rose. I would tell all future patients to ask any questions they have because there is no such thing as too much info. A couple of days post-op after I was discharged from the hospital I had to call Doctor Nye on a Sunday Night because I had drainage from my incision sight. This was the first time this had happened and it scared me. Dr. Nye did not sound bothered when he spoke to me and told me everything was okay and Thanked me for calling him. I was really impressed besides relieved everything was okay. I would recommend anyone even thinking about the surgery to talk it over with Dr.Nye. I think surgical competence and bedside manner are both needed in a surgeon and Dc. Nye definitly has both of them!
My first impression of Dr Nye was that he is very knowledgeable in his craft. He took the time to answer all of my questions in terms that I could understand. Dr Nye seems very compassionate. At first glance he appeared a little intimidating, but after talking with him for an hour those thoughts went away. He went through the different types of surgery and told me which one he thinks would be best for my body. Dr Nye does require a five year aftercare program. He said he wants to make sure that every patient of his has the best outcome possible.
Overall I would rate Dr Nye and his office staff a 9. I would say that Dr Nye's surgical competence helped me relax in our first meeting. He said that he has done over 1000 of these operations.
I first want to say i was very scared but after talking to his nurse Rose and the staff I was fine. He answered all my questions and husbands questions too. I didnt have everything he requried for the 1st visit because i wasnt scheduled to see him until late Dec. but the called and said they had a opening so i took it. I had the blood work done after my visit and doing my food list for 3 weeks. I have my evals almost all scheduled. I am very surprised he didnt yell at me for smoking , he just said that was bad and we kinda laughed. He seems to be very good mannered with his patients. I sat in the waiting room and listened to all the woman talking about what they could eat and what they couldnt. I was told he was very good and they were all very grateful for him doing their surgery. When I left the office his waiting room was standing room only. I know I have found a dr. that is willing to help people in need. Now all I have to wait for is my insurance company to approve.
I was very pleased with Dr. Nye and his staff. They try to help each person with this process the best they can. Dr. Nye was informative about the surgery and forthcoming about his past background. I have full confidence in him as a surgeon. Further, from the information provided to me about him from others throughout the community, I am convinced he is a good man and that's important to me, as well. As far as his aftercare program, I'd rate that a 10 1/2. I haven't heard of anyone else in this area, who follows their patients as long as he does or offers his level of support. I'd rate Dr. Nye and his office a 10.
Dr.nye is the best...Before my first appointment I was very nervous because every Doctor I have ever seen has always given you that holier than thou look and speech you know just stop eating so much..But he was kind and listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. He also told me that the aftercare program would be for about 5 years and I have to want to change my eating habits. He ran lots of tests and assured me that hopeflly we could get rid of most of my meds.I WAS diabetic(took 4 pills and 8 shots a day),high blood pressure, high chlorostol, depression, migraines,.Right after my surgery I was off all my meds...But now blood pressure is back up so now I am back on that pill.Blood sugars are now normal before surgery blood sugar was 500+ on a daily basis.....Dr. Nye is my HERO
Dr. Nye and his staff were very patient, friendly and professional. He answered all my questions very thoroughly, and listened to my husband's concerns also. He spoke a lot about how the procedure is done, the history of the procedure, and after care. Future patients should make sure they have the pscyh eval, H-Pylori test, Thyroid Test, and Nutrional Eval completed before your visit to expediate the process. All these things are outlined in the packet his office sends out. (my packet did not have the info on the nutrional eval-luckily I could get an appt with them the next day!)
On a scale of one to ten, Dr. Nye and his office score a 9!
I was very impressed with Dr. Nye and his staff they are all wonderful people. Dr. Nye is very encouraging everytime you see him and they are always a smiling... :) They are a great team.
I would recommend him to any one considering WLS.
The emphasis on aftercare is very very strong from Dr. Nye and his staff they follow you for 5 yrs.
Dr. Nye has performed around probally 900 + sugeries by now and I would say the risks of him doing your sugery and you having any complications is slim to none.
His competence of the surgery and his bedside manner is what makes him the great surgeon he is......
