I first met Dr. Lord at one of his seminars. I knew right then that he had lots of self confidence in what he does. He comes across as very, very smart. Jan (his nurse), Traci (nutritionist), Maggie (psychologist) and Dr. Lord's entire staff are wonderful people and work great as a team. It amazes me how they manage to get everything choreographed and have everything go so smoothly. Dr. Lord and his staff feel very strongly about aftercare and he took plenty of time going over everything with me and my family to make sure we did understand the risks involved. I felt that my life was in the best possible care with this excellent team. I went into surgery with absolutely no worries.
My experience with Dr. Lord has been a 1 1/2 year rollercoaster!! I have health issues that had stopped the process during another bypass surgery. So when I heard a surgeon was coming to town that did it laproscopy I was pretty excited. I was aware that Dr. Lord makes his potential clients attend a seminar to get to know the procedure and the doctor involved. I was off on my adventure to get thin and healty. I was suprised by how Dr. Lord seemed so sure of himself (my fiancee' at the time said the same thing), but at the same time I started to think that this is how he has to be to be successful. I booked an appointment to see him(he hadn't really started doing the surgery in Florida yet so I was pre-qualifying). Dr. Lord then came in to see me on the first day, and he was a bit sceptical at first due to the issues from previous doctors. I have pretty advanced liver problems which could complicate surgery. Anyway, today I write this in joy that I am 7 days post-op and feel great! There are less than 1% of surgeons in the US that could pull off my procedure thank god we have Dr. Lord here for this. rnHis staff was unbelieveable! They took care of me like I was the only patient! I expect great care and they exceeded it 10 fold!rnrnAFTERCARErnrnDr. Lord and his staff came to see me everyday while I was in the hospital, again I did not expect this and it was really nice!rnThe program they set up is easy to follow and very thorough! Even an idiot like myself can do it!!rnrnRISKSrnrnThe risks in my case were heavy!! I was not you atypical bariatric case(morbid obestiy, diabetes, etc.) I had far more advanced issues that had Dr. Lord doing his homework for real!! He weighed all my risks laid them out for me plain and simple and let me make a decision. I Love him for doing this!! You will too!!rnrnOVERALLrnrnTo be cliche' and say \"It was great, he was awesome\" would be understating what this man does for people! He literally saves lives! At first on the surface you can just skim over it and move on. But if you really think about it deeply, we cannot thank this guy enough for the service he provides! If you have had surgery and this was the man that performed it you are literally his \"shinko\" or servant to whom has saved your life. Dr. Lord is the best everyone tells him and us this all the time. Remember he will be the best for you. He make sure of that.rnrnrnrnrn
Well, I had two first impressions of my surgeon. The first was \"Oh, Fuck, he used to be a Navy doctor!\" My husband is in the Navy and we have seen some serious problems from more than just a couple of the doctors, their facilities and their support teams. Then, Dr. Lord included himself in the seminar, and explained first hand, the difference between his credentials and other Bariatric surgeons credentials. He didn't try to sugar coat you into thinking he was a good surgeon, he showed the facts, in good presentation form, and he showed concern and the precautionary steps he uses to minimize any dangers to his patients. So far, his staff has been outstanding. Many of them are post-op patients, and even some are on the list to have the surgery done. They seem to be upfront and supportive. Dr. Lord doesn't seem to be the hand holding \"I'm going to make you a movie star\" doctor. He seems real. I believe in cutting out the bullshit, and to me, he seems to have the same attitude. Right now, there is nothing I do not like about Dr. Lord. Overall, I rate him #1. I tried to research as many surgeons as possible before I even asked for a referral. I chose Dr. Lord because I truly believe he is the most competent bariatric surgeon on the market. I don't factor in bedside manner when it comes to surving the surgery. I believe surgical competence to be the most important factor. I want to survive, to enjoy the new & healthier me. Other than my initial consult, I have no basis to judge his bedside manner.
My first impression of Dr. Lord was that he was very personable. He really took his time when he talked to you and was interested in what you had to say. That was the first time I had never felt \"rushed\" in a Doctors office. Dr. Lords staff is wonderful. They are always willing to answer your questions and make you feel like you are part of the family. Dr. Lord has an extremely structured after care program. They monitor and follow your progress and well being for 5 years. Luckily, I found a surgeon who was both medically competent and has a great bedside manner as well.
First impression was down to earth, and somewhat young and confident.rnrnImpression stayed the same through pre op. rnrnStaff is very helpful and nice. Makes you feel like you've known them for years...rnrnThey seem to tailor your program for your individual needs. I like that. rnrnThey strongly advise after care and have a great aftercare program.rnrnThey addressed risks of surgery by informed consents, a three ring binder of written info, verbal info, time to ask questions, etc.rnrnI'd rate them so far as a 8 or 9 out of 10. (no one gets a 10)rnrnYou need BOTH surgical competence AND bedside manor.
I thought he was outstanding, personable and above all knowledgeable. He treats me with respect, and realistic in explaining the expectations for me. He and his staff have been very efficient and helpful.rnHe is very enthusiastic about his job; his staff offers comfort when it all seems overwhelming.rnAs everybody knows, “The Lord knows best”.rn
My first impression of Dr. Lord was that he was cocky but I really didn't care because he has had no deaths so he could be cocky I would to if I was a great surgeon. My impression didn't change over time I have always trusted that Dr. Lord is a excellent surgeon and I would be in great hands on the big surgery day. When I had my surgery everything went great Dr. Lord did his magic and I had no problems, the nurses on the bariatric floor are very nice and eager to please you they are the best nurses I have ever had caring for me. Dr. Lord makes sure that you are informed of any complications and risk of surgery before and afterwards. I love Dr. Lord as a Doctor and surgeon but I must say that his beside manners are not good as well as his patient relations at least not with me they weren't. I would highly recommend Dr. Lord to anyone looking into having gastric bypass surgery.
Dr. Lord was very honest about the entire procedure informing me of all possible risks to include death. He was willing to take all the time I needed to answer any of my questions. I feel blessed to have had Dr. Lord as my surgeon and to have received such ongoing excellent care from his entire team.
