Jeffrey E. Friedman Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

My first impression of Dr. Friedman was at the "Meet the Doctor" seminar, and it was a good impression. Over time, that impression has diminished. My first office appointment he answered his cell phone during, and it appeared to be a personal call. My other visits with him have always been very brief. He has specific things to ask and when I would try to elaborate on something he would cut me off and go to the next question. I will say that everyone on his staff that I have dealt with has been WONDERFUL. I've called a few times and always been treated with respect and had my questions answered. I wish Dr. Friedman's bedside manner would improve. Maybe this is a recent thing, I read reviews on here and it doesn't seem to be the norm for him. However all of my appointments with him have felt rushed. With other staff members that was not the case though. Dr. Friedman did a wonderful job with my actual surgery, as far as I can tell--which in the long run is better than having a good bedside manner and poor surgical skills. Perhaps in the future I'll meet with the nurses, etc if I want to spend more than a few minutes with them.

My first impression of Dr. Friedman was good. He seemed professional. However, over time I came to realize that Dr. Friedman just thought of me as a proceedure and not as an individual. He was not empathetic and practically dismissed my pain and discomfort. His staff seemed to follow his example. Dr. Friedman and his staff could use some more training in compassion and empathy and respect for the individual as more than a statistic and a paycheck.

My first impression of Dr Friedman was that he was committed to helping his patients make better lives for themselves. I appreciated most, I believe, that he is interested in giving his patients the information they need to make the choices that are right for them. He has that magic combination of surgical skills and interpersonal skills to make him the perfect choice for those who are making sweeping physical and emotional changes. His office staff could not be better. I never expected so much support and help as I have gotten both before and after my surgery. I honestly feel I could call them with any problem and, most importantly, for the first time in my up and down weight life, I know I am going to be successful in losing the weight and keeping it off. Making that initial appointment with Dr Friedman was by far one of the best things I have ever done for myself!

Dr. Friedman is a great surgeon. Him and his staff helped me through the 9 month diet, and surgery with such enthusiasm and support, like I was a part of their family. I would refer him to anyone who was serious about changing their life. Both him and the staff were very nice, and eager to answers all of my questions. Always there to lend a hand, and to calm my frustrations through the whole process. We weighed the risks and benefits, talked about alternatives that I had already tried, and why they failed. After the surgery everyone he was just as helpful as they had been before. He has a very good bedside manner, and his surgical competence was excellent. I was up and walking around and feeling great an hour after my surgery. I would certainly give him a 10 out of 10!

I actually had surgery in Mexico, but found Dr. Friedman when I cam home. He has agreed to provide my follow up care and I have been nothing but impressed with him and his office. I have found his staff to be helpful, responsive, and caring in every situation. When I need to make an appointment they are very accomodating and can always get me in quickly. I have been under his care for about 10 weeks and continue to be pleased. I have been to the office three times for fills and am amazed at how I do not have to wait. Also, I do not feel rushed and Dr. Friedman welcomes questions that I have. I understand this glowing recommendation might appear suspect and I am sure that as I continue going there over the next few years I will find something to complain about. However, since I have only been a patient for two months my experiences have been all postive!

I received my Lap Band on September 1, 2009 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola Florida. Dr. Jeffrey Friedman and his staff are the most professional, friendly and caring I have ever come across. The information about the surgery as precise and correct. The surgery went exactly as Dr. Friedman explained it to me, and furthermore, my recovery has been quick and nearly painfree.
If I had to do it again, I would certainly choose Dr. Friedman. I always look forward to my visits and I'm always treated like I am their #1 patient. Thanks Doc....

What a great doctor!!! He and his staff are caring, helpful and take care of you all through the process. He trusted me enough to leave the hospital 1 day early. His bedside manner is something you don't learn; you just know how to treat people with kindness and support. Surgery was a little over a week ago and feel better and better each day. Sadly we have to move back to New Hampshire and again, he and his staff are going above and beyond to find me a new dr. and keep me connected with his office when I am so far away. Betty in the office is fab!! She cares and talks you through all your appointments and money issues clearly and is helpful all the way. Dr. Friedman's nurse knows how to be caring but all fight for you with the insurance company. I honestly cannot say one bad thing about him and his staff, which we all know is rare in the medical community. If you are in the area, he is the one you want to help you start this new chapter in your life. Thanks Baptist Bariatric!!

Dr. Friedman fixed me !!!! I had major problems with the Lap-band that was done with Dr. Lord. Dr. Friedman was empathetic and took the time to listen to me. He got his entire staff to come up with a game plan to help me ASAP because I was so sick. They were able to expedite the insurance approval to remove the Lap-band and replace with Roux en Y because of Lap-band complications. Dr. Friedman is a doctor that not only looks good on paper, he also has a great personality and bedside manner to compliment his expert surgical skills. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful doctor. I have never felt better. I had by-pass surgery 2 months ago and it was a breeze. I would have done it years ago had I known how easy it would be. The doctor made sure I was comfortable and not in pain while I was healing. I am having hour long workouts at the gym and less than 2 months out. Did I mention I was feeling fantastic? Just wanted to reiterate.

I just had surgery less than a week ago and can't tell you how happy I am that I finally took the step to better health. My surgeon was Dr Friedman. I made an appointment with Dr Friedman after several people that work with my wife recommended him. What I found from the first visit was a doctor unlike so many you find today. Dr spent as much time as it too to explain the program, what to expect, what the steps would be and how his staff would take me to each level. Not only did he explain it but he showed me by drawing pictures and answering all of my questions. Dr Friedman also has a staff that will help you with each step from insurance, nutrition etc to just any questions you may have. When you enter their wing at the hospital everybody is just so nice, they make you feel relaxed and they are just so friendly. My procedure when great and I could not be any happier than I am with Dr Friedman and his staff. If you are looking for the best care, an easy to understand doctor that isn't rushing you in and out this is where you want to visit. On your first visit you will find the confidence, safe and good feeling that will let you know that you are at the right place.rnGood luck with you journey and I know you will be happy you started just as I am!
