My first impression of him is that he is very caring and non-judgemental. I've only seen him once, but I'm usually right with my first impressions.rnrnDr Kemmerlings staff is incredible. His bariatric manager had an Roux-n-y two years ago, and really knows where we're coming from.rnrnDr Kemmerling is very thorough, and has never lost a patient. He takes his time, and makes sure all the bases are covered.rnrnDr is very strick about aftercare, if you don't think it's going to happen, don't go to him. He has a structured aftercare which is outlined in detail in a three ringed binder you recieve on the first visit. He also has a support group run by his bariatric manager, and he attends as many meetings as he possibly can. He recommends this website as a source of good information too. rnrnI can't rate him overall because I haven't had my surgery yet. Everyone at St Vincent's Hospital that I've come in contact with has been wonderful.rnrnI can now report that Dr K is great in every aspect of my care. He has time to talk with me and my husband, never rushes or makes us feel like our questions are dumb. He seems to have a good rapor with the nurses, and they know what to expect from him. If Dr K has a bad side, I never saw it for a second.rnrn8-19-2006rnrnIt has been two years today since my surgery. In July of 2005, I had Dr K for a hernia repair. Again, I can say he's awesome. I never felt uncomfortable or judged by him, despite his own fit and trim personal apperance. I had a hernia on the Rny site and one on an old gall bladder removal site. There were no complications with my operation, and I was even able to have surgery within two days of my pre-op appt. (I hate waiting for anything)rnrnThe only thing I would change now, is I would have asked him to join me in prayer before my surgery. I'm sure he would have been happy to.rnrnIf you really want me to say one thing negative, it would be to take it easier on the nurses! He actually wanted one of them to find me a nicer table to work my jigsaw puzzles! What a guy!

Dr Kemmerling great Doctor very caring and informative. It has been 2years and still have the same impression of him. He wants to see you meet your goal and stay healthy. His office staff is very friendly and informative. Any time you have a questions they are there with the answers and if they dont know they will find out for you. You can call them anytime and they will call you right back if they can. Their bariatric corrindator has put togeather a bariatric ball in the spring this was the second year that they have had this and it gives you a chance to go to the prom or dance you never got to go to before because of you weight. It is great. The doctor is even willing to come to speak and answer questions at our next support group meeting. We are 2 hours away from him. Cant say enough about him he is great.

Dr.Kemmerling tells you just the way this surgery changes your life and risks involved.Ihave 100%trust inDr.Kemmerling after my first consultation with him made me feel very relaxed and not just another number. It hasn't so far I have become more positive he will get me through this Surgery one way or another. All of the office staff is very friendly, caring .Guaranteed you will not just feel like another number.Nothing that I didn't like about Dr.Kemmerling.He will tell you everything involved in the procedure and that you are a big part of the process. He wants you to follow up on After Care even if you feel good so he can monitor and know how well you are doing with weight loss. Yes he does have a structured after care program with you in mind and what is good for your health.Through a slide show you can see the risks involved and ask as many questions as you want.On a scale from 0-10 10 being the highest definitely Dr.Kemmerling and his staff would get a 10. Both are great what I have seen so far.

Dr Kent is a very nice guy w/ a sense of humor may I add. That is always good in my book. I know he takes things seriously, but he never makes you feel nevrous about things. I know I am in good hands! His background is that of a doctor in the navy, which I relate to well since my husband is in the navy.

I now see Dr James Kemmerling for follow up care. He is nice and pushes you which is a good thing.

My first impression of Dr Kemmerling was that he seemed a bit remote and very "surgeon" like. It didn't take long before I came to see he was actually very sweet. I just want to thank him for even performing the surgery on me as I have a rare genetic syndrome which made the surgery a bit risky. I ended up having it done laproscopically which I was happy about and was in St Vs. for 6 days. I never had any pain from the surgery, however because of my disorder I had a lot of back pain...Dr K went out of his way to accommodate me in this area. He was absolutely terrific and I really cannot say enough about him....ditto for his staff, and the nurses at St Vs are absolute angels.....They never made me feel as if they were not happy to have to help me with something and they were always prompt at answering my call light.

He is a very caring doctor that doesn't pull punches. This is not a cure all for being overweight. He has a strict regimine that I found very easy to follow and I have not had any major complications. I am about 15 months out and things are going great. I went from 505 lbs before I saw dr to 280 currently. I feel so much better and it has done wonders for me mentally as well as phusically. I have talked to other people that have had other doctors and all the horror stories they have gone through. The support group that his office runs does have some people with some adverse reactions, but nothing too out of the ordinary. He is very worried about aftercare and his program has a pretty low complication rate. I have reccomended him to other people that have seen my results and are starting their path.

My first impression was that he knew what he was talking about and he was very serious about before and after care.(He is VERY serious about aftercare. If your not, he may not the right surgen for you.) His presentation was great. He was so informative it made me feel so good that I had chosen (what I feel)the best surgen for my surgery. I have later found that Dr. K to be very funny. He had my laughing so hard I almost fell off the table. His staff is the best you could ever ask for. You could call them 20 times a day and they never seem bothered to answer your questions or address your concerns. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kemmerling. I give Dr. Kemmerling and his staff a perfect 10 !

He was very professional but approachable. His staff was awsome - very friendly, compassionate and positive. I took the advice that was given to me by his coordinator prior to my consult very seriously and came to my consult with two doc letters of recommendation, a complete pysc eval and all my medical records. His group emphasized the importance of aftercare and has a well established support group. His coordinator is also a post-op RYN patient of his, so she is an excellend resource!! His group was very upfront and to the point about the risks of surgery. Although I am in the approval stage I would rate Dr. Kemmerling and his staff a 10 so far!!!

Baraitric Coordinator Mary is prompt returning all telephone calls and answering any questions.Kathy Rn is also very helpful. Aftercare is stressed..Has far as addressing risk Dr.Kemmerling went over each risk in detail at initial consult and pre-op visit.I believe is a great choice for me.
