My first impression of Dr. Irgau was largely based on expectation, after all I had researched his track record beforehand. He presented himself to us (my husband and me) as mild-mannered and intelligent, very patient and un-rushed. Seemed genuinely interested and respectful. His office staff were all polite and out-going, though there were ocassional but minor miscommunications regarding the steps to take (like what and when on clearances and other pre-op tests). Fortunately, the CHRIAS team along with PMRI are endeavoring to get these kinks out. Throughout my experience as a patient of Irgau's, I have been quite impressed with his "rules". He doesn't play around. He wants a safe, successful outcome, not only because that's smart business but because , as I later learned, he truly does care about the human beings for whom he performs the surgery. He insists on full pre and post op knowledge and that full compliance is imperative. For instance, I KNEW I'd be denied the WLS if I did not quit smoking at least 4 wks pre-op. many other surgeons are semi-concerned, even lax in their standards ... not remotely so with Irgau. Confidence in his knowledge and skills helped in my decision to go through with this. As for his bedside manner... Can a surgeon be tender-hearted? Yes, absolutely, he can and is. Without reservation, my husband and I highly recommend Isaias Irgau!
Dr. Irgau is a very gentle, quiet man. He will take all the time necessary to help you understand the procedure and answer any and/or all of your questions. The office staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. They have your best interest at hand and will help guide you along the way. They must talk to hundreds of people a day but they always seem to have the time for you. I highly recommend the CHRIAS Team.
I think Dr. Irgau and his staff are the best. At my first appointment, Dr. Irgau answered all my questions and put me at ease about having the surgery. Prior to surgery, I went through a very thorough health check up with a cardiologist, a pulmonarist,an endocrinologist and a psychologist. I attended the Life Skills class with a nutritionist from PMRI who gave me invaluable information regarding my diet and the best way to keep myself healthy after the surgery. After surgery, there is a structured aftercare program with check-ups at his office and PMRI visits with the nutritionist and psychologist. There are also local meetings at PMRI to keep everyone well informed. I would recommend Dr. Irgau to everyone.
My first impressions of Dr. Irgau was a pleasant one, we sat and talked about my situation, what would be best for me, and we actually made a plan on what needed to be done. And once we did that, everything went just as planned. That gave me a feeling as time went that Dr. Irgau is a good Dr. And has a good staff behind him. They are a great asset I am sure in helping the Dr. keep things flowing. Kudos to them. I would and have recommended Dr. Irgau to other people, interested in having the procedure or as I told my Mom to call him due to her Gallbladder. The day of my surgery he did make his presence known. Which sometime Drs. after they are done. Leave you to the hands of the staff, A very good staff, but none the less, Seeing the Dr, helps ease your mind when they come in and tell you all went well. I feel he is compentate in his practice and would tell anyone to seek him in there issues. Dr. Irgau does have a good sense of humor, and is not how I am going to put "A STIFF SHIRT" From day one in meeting him, I had a good feeling about him. And still do. And am pleased to have him as my Dr. I am sure everyone has faults..and as of Yet I am unable to say anything against the Dr. But as this care will con't for the rest of my life, we shall see. And I will update.
Blessed Be.
Dr. Irgau presented himself to me as very knowledgeable and explained the surgical process more clearly. I consulted with Dr. Marymor at the Barix Clinic and he did not tell me some of the things I would have to avoid after surgery. His office staff was very friendly and worked with me several times when I had to change my EGD procedure due to work conflicts. Also, I learned that he and Dr. Wynn who is a partner in his office do the surgery together which is a plus because you have 2 experienced surgeons doing the surgery and 4 eyes are better than 2. I have heard glowing reviews from his patients about the aftercare and his office even sells some of the protein supplements which is very helpful to patients. All of the risks were explained to me and I felt that Dr. Irgau was very candid and held nothing back. I would rate him a 9 out of a possible 10 because I was quite pleased with my initial visit. I have yet to find out his bedside manner but I feel confident that his competence rates very high because I know 2 co-workers who have had the surgery and have had no problems.
I was very nervous and he put me at ease right away. My husband was with me and he talked to both of us and did not make us feel like we were asking dumb questions. His staff were very friendly and caring and I felt comfortable around them. Since this was my first visit and I am just starting out I felt a little over whelmed so I don't remember everything. I think all our questions were answered and I know in the future I will probably have more.
My first impression of Dr. Irgau was one of great knowledge but also great people person as well.
My impression has not changed.
The office staff is wonderful. Some have had the surgery and are a great source of information.
I only thing I did not like was that I did not see him directly after surgery in the hospital. The other surgeon from his office that was in with him during my surgery came in only once during my hospital stay. I had never met this surgeon.
To trust him.
Aftercare is a must with his office.
They do have a structured aftercare program.
All risks were related to me up front.
