Dr. Babineau is kind of quiet, but he is very informative and professional. As a surgeon, I am very impressed with his skill. I have had no problems since my surgery, which has only been a week...but I really feel that he did a great job because recovery has been alot easier than I expected and alot less painful. Overall, I would say that his surgical competence is better than his bedside manner.

I was very impressed with Dr. Babineau. He is very young but very well educated for his field. I feel very confident in him and his office. Everyone has been very professional and helpful, what few times I have called in.
A friend recommended him to me and I will be very glad to recommend him to others. If you listen to his initial instructions and go over and over the reading material I think it is all covered very well. His intial meeting with first time people is interesting. All meeting in 1 room was very helpful to hear questions being asked and answered.
I have never had any other surgeries before this is one big step for woman kind!

A very nice caring person and very informative on the surgery start to finish. My Impression didn't change just help me make up mymind about having the surgery. They are very nice and do what needs to be done to get the ball moving for your surgery. Can't think of anything as of now. That he is very open about the sugery and lets you know that this is a tool that can help you achieve your goal if you do what he tells you from start to finish if it is a finish. Very important and like I said doing what you are told from start to finish. Yes, you receive it in the office and also on the web site. He let you know all the risk up front talking about them in the group and the also one on one. I rate him very highly because he is the man I picked to do my surgery, so that in it's self let's you know who I feel about my doctor.

My first impression of Dr. Babineau was that he is and educated man in his field. Over time my confidence grew stronger that he was the Dr. for me. His staff is great, and I like the fact that when I call I get to speak with someone that can help me, instead of "I'll take your number and have someone call you back". If I had to pick something to improve about Dr. Babineau would be his bed-side manner, not that he has a bad bed-side manner, just that he could show a little more personality, in my opinion. Future patients should know that Dr. Babineau makes me feel comfortable in asking "any" questions I may have. He does emphasize aftercare and he does have a structured aftercare program. I belive that in Dr. Babineau's consultation he is very thorough with giving much of the information you want to know about the surgery. I rate Dr. Babineau as being a 9 out of 10 with 10 being the best. I would recommend him to friends or family. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both important.

My first impression of Dr. Babineau was "Wow he is young". He looked and acted professional but was on the laid back and personal side also. I am still getting to know him, but was great during and after the surgery. Very good bed side manners and follow up with questions I had. His staff made me feel like family. Super girls. I am a very relious person and would have preferred to know if he was or not. He did not offer a prayer prior to surgery...but his anethesiologist did. Dr McCarthy..so he does have that going for him. He is serious about what he does and wants you to be just a serious. Believe ME It is Serious Stuff. YOu need to realize that the aftercare is the most important to the success of your weightloss. I have promised myself after having pd cash for the procedure that there was no-way I was not going to be protective of how I treat my body. He was very good about going over the risks of the surgery. I would rate him at Number 10 from 1-10 and the last question is both good from bedside to surgery. Thanks for listening.

1/6/04--I have met him professionally and he seems to be a very nice individual. He gave a medical presentation at our medical staff meeting not long ago on bariatric surgery. Of course, I attended. I have referred several other patients over to him and have had good comments from them regarding him and his staff. I am waiting to meet with him as a patient however.

2/26/04--Finally had my "professional" visit today. Very interesting how he meets his patients. He has everyone meet in one giant room and he goes over the surgery in detail, risks and benefits, complications, post-op details, etc... Afterwards, he meets with you individually to go over your medical history to see if you are "really" interested and to see if you have any other questions that were not answered in the large group. I hear that he performs your physical exam just prior to the surgical date. Anyway, it was a little bit different type of office visit for this family physician. Not bad--just different. It didn't sound as if he had a very structured aftercare program though and he didn't really emphasize any particular diet program postop either. Perhaps he will go over that later?? I still have not had a nutritional consult. Maybe that is where it will come into play.

7/15/04 Had my preop visit yesterday. He went over all of the details of the surgery. He was very thorough about the surgery, risks & benefits as well as other options. He has a very good handout that he gives to patients on their first visit about the surgery and postop. Unfortunately, I was disappointed as far as the postop diet was concerned. It was very fague. I like specifics. I know I need to have protein first and drink water but which foods are better in protein, which carbs are more likely to get me sick, etc..... All I have to say is thank goodness for AMOS. You folks have filled in the blanks for me. You'd think as a physician, I'd know better--but let me tell you a secret: most doctors know very little about nutrition. We know the basics plus a little more than the ordinary fella. Other than that, I know that I should send a person to a nutritionist/dietician whenever there is a nutritional question/problem. I've heard too many good things about Dr. B to question his skills now though. I also know too many other people who have gone to him and have had successful surgeries so I will continue to hedge my bets.

7/28/04--5 days postop!!! My comments on Dr. B's surgical expertise is EXCELLENT. Despite a coexisting complication that was uncovered during surgery, from a WLS standpoint I had minimal pain, minimal nausea, and no vomiting with an OPEN RNY!!! I would recommend him to others and will continue to do so with my own patients.
