Heather McMullen Bariatric Surgeon MD,FACS

Dr. McMullen is very knowledgable very professional and very nice. Due to an unfortunate issue with scheduling I was forced to switch providers. I am now trying to find a physician at NYU in Manhattan who will be able to perform my surgery. Wish me luck.

What a super nice doctor. Unfortunately, I had to switch to an associate of her (also a nice doctor) due to insurance.

Dr McMullen was very warm and welcoming right from the first moment that I met her. She immediately put myself and my Husband at ease. The entire staff at United Surgical Associates are the best. They go out of their way to get me answers of put me in touch with someone that could. The only negative thing that I have is that I felt that my case was not pushed hard enough when my insurance company over one weight in 2007. They did not want to do an appeal based on my co-morbidities. I had to wait almost a year to resubmit to my insurance company when that one weight was no longer in in the picture. The doctor and her PA have made it their mission to make sure that I know what to expect and what to do after surgery. I have already received the date and time of my post-surgical visit. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is considering having weight loss surgery in the NY/NJ area.

I feel that surgical competence is of utmost importance, but having a good bedside manner makes the entire package more complete.

Friendly, approachable, knowledgeable--the staff is great, very helpful. Lindis the nurse practitioner is fabulous.

'I thought she was knowledgeable and a straight talker. She didn't hold anything back and answered any questions I had. That staff is excellent. Thay have a large staff with seperate people to handle different aspects of the process. The office stresses aftercare. She was honest and up front about all possible complications. She was tough when it came to my situation and weight stressing what I needed to do to lose some weight before we could proceed

I thought she was too young! After finding out how many of these surgeries she had done, I relaxed. The staff was well informed, and the office is modern and clean (essential for me to like them! LOL)

she was very informative. My children came with me and she was very kind to them and my husband. I wanted their questions answered as well. My Husband was late that day and she couldn't be more patient. She understands what it means to be a working mom. The office staff is excellent. They are always there for my constant questions. After care is emphasized with Sandra Bianche. she has been nothing but urpportave. She discussed the risks very openly. I appreciate the honesty.

Hi everyone....This is Sheilah and my original weight was 424.2 lbs so needless to say I was obese until I met with Dr. Macura which at the time he was part of the team of United Surgical Associates. I must admit Dr.Macura was not the friendliest Doctor to speak to you but one thing he truly was and that was that he is stright to the point and precise. He will not lie to you just to get the money form the insurance and he will tell you if he can or not do the Lap form instead of total open cut because he refuses to make mistakes which I can honestly respect that of him and he tells you his straight to the point of what he will and will not do for you. After surgery I had the follow ups with Dr. Heather McMullen (AWESOME DOCTOR-SHE IS GREAT) and let's not forget the best bedside manners from Dr. Jeffrey Nicastro (HE IS ADORABLE & SPEAKS GOOD SPANISH..SPOKE TO ME *smile*). I continued the visits with Dr.McMullen and Dr.Nicastro and they are both awesomely great. I have not seen either of them now over a year and I hope they get to read this because I have now lost a total of 218-lbs since my surgery date which was 04/24/02. I now live in Campbell, Ohio and I truly miss them and recommend them grrrrreatly to anyone who wishes to have this procedure done.....THE BEST THERE IS...PERIOD!
