Glenn A Kline Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Before I could even meet with Dr Kline, I was required to go through the Weight Loss Center at the hospital. This is a special office and staff set up to assist and educate those considering bariatric surgery. This staff made sure that all requirements for the insurance were fullfilled and that I understood and qualified for the surgery. After everything was in order(about 8 months later including the diet attempt), I met Dr Kline. The first meeting was rather brief and I took my support person with me for the second. The second pre-surgery was a little more comforting as I felt better asking questions and it was informal in his office. Pam from his office is WONDERFUL and very knowledgable. I feel great going into surgery knowing such a supportive staff and surgeon are available to me. Dr Kline will not be performing these surgeries after 7/01/07, so I will be on of the last. I am a bit concerned as if I need any additional surgery, I will need to find another doctor, however am confident in his care up to that point. He also only performs open roux en y. I am told weight loss center will remain open for support meetings. Surgery in 1 week!!

He was very professional but yet easy to talk to and down to earth. I felt very comfortable with him. The first time I saw him was at our suport group and at that time I was still pre-op of course. I was impressed that he took the time to come to the support group and spend time with his patients after surgery as well.

Well, today is September 8th and I met Dr. Kline for the first time. I really liked him. He made a very good first impression upon me. He was very personable and he kept joking. I totally needed that. Lets put it this way, I felt comfortable. He was willing to anwser any questions or possible concerns I had. As of right now my first visit with him is very positive.

Dr. Glenn Kline is my surgeon. He is very professional, confident, and maybe it's beacause I'm in the medical field but he was joking and made me feel very relaxed. His office staff were all very nice, polite and they all dressed alike (very Bazarr). I liked him, just very direct and to the point wich is what I like, be straight forth with me and he is. It's a whole program so he really don't participate in emotional and mental after care, but physically I have to go back often. The WLS Program it's self is very structured, from beginning to just going to suport meetings after. He was very confident when talking about the complications and said things like "I don't thinks there will be any problems" he was encouraging to me. I give him an over all good rating. No complaints so far.

Dr. Kline seemed very confident in himself and me in getting through this surgery. I see him as having a competitive nature with a win win attitude. It was very evident in his overall performance of my surgery. He took the time to explain why he does the surgery open instead of laproscopic and made me feel very comfortable with the process. Dr. Kline has a very good support staff. They got me through the process with ease. They understood upfront all the pre-approval requirements from my insurance company (Health America) and we made sure, together, that I would qualify on the first attempt.
There is nothing that I dislike about Dr. Kline. Some have mentioned that they felt he should have more knowledge of the post-op steps that a patient has to take. For example: vitamins, when to switch from liquid to soft foods etc. My feelings are that he is the surgeon and not the nutritionist. As long as the surgeon has a good support mechanism in place throughout the process, then the only thing I care about him knowing is what to do when he has me laying on the table.
His staff makes sure we follow up with our required appointments, blood work and visits to him. He appears to be interested in our progress at the appointments and will occasionally come to a support meeting.
After surgery we had a manual to follow for the first 2 months, follow up appointments for a year, support meetings monthly and staff available (including Dr. Kline) 24 hours a day by phone.
Dr. Kline reviewed the risks of surgery and his staff did too. We saw a video during the exploratory stage that also explains the risks. Prior to surgery I did sign an affidavit stating that I had been made aware of the risks. On the affidavit I had to initial in a number of places the paragraphs explaining the risks.
I would rate Dr. Kline as an excellent surgeon with the highest level of competence. His bedside manner was good as well, but that does not matter much to me.

My surgeon is very busy-oriented and serious about the work he does. I appreciate that he takes his work seriously and focuses on what needs to be done.
Dr. Kline's office staff is wonderful, attentive and extremely helpful.
Dr. Kline requires patients to work with the Weight Loss Center which entails attending meetings, psychiatric evaluation, and regular scheduled visits post-surgery.
The risks were clearly laid out for me and understood prior to agreeing to the surgery.
I have had a wonderful experience with the weight loss staff, the surgeon, the hospital and everyone else involved in both my pre-op and recovery.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. KLINE WAS THAT HE WAS VERY CONFIDENT, AND THAT IN TURN GAVE ME CONFIENCE IN HIM AND THAT IMPRESSION HAS NOT CHANGED. HIS OFFICE STAFF IS FANTASTIC, VERY PLESANT AND HELPFULL. IF I HAD TO SAY WHAT I LIKE LEAST ABOUT HIM, IT WOULD BE THAT HE/ALL DR'S COULD SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOU BUT THAT'S NOT THINKING RATIONALLY IN TODAYS WORLD.FUTURE PATIENTS SHOULD KNOW THAT HE IS A VERY COMPETANT SURGEN AND THAT DR'S ARE NOT GOD. THERE ARE RISK INVOLVED IN ALL SURGERIES. HE PUTS GREAT IMPORTANCE ON AFTERCARE AND HAS A STRUCTURED AFTERCARE PROGRAM, SO ITS UP TO HIS PATIENTS TO MAKE SURE THE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT, SO JUST DO IT.HE EXPLAINED THERE ARE RISK INVOLVED IN THIS AND ALL SURGERIES.I WOULD RATE DR.KLINE ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 A 10 BECAUSE SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BESIDE MANNER MEANS A LOT TO ME AND HE HAS BOTH. EVEN THOUGH HE DOES MOVE FAST LOL. THANK YOU DR. KLINE FOR A NEW LEASE ON LIFE.

First impression was that he was very professional, my impression never changed. He was and is an excellent doctor, a general surgeon as well as a RNY specialist. His office staff was great, and I have as yet had no complaints, except perhaps that it hurt having the staples taken out, not his fault of course. Can't think of anything I dislike about him. He is precise and to the point and will waste none of his time or yours. The aftercare is regulated thru a nutristionist and RN that runs his clinic, with support groups, etc..
Very structured as long as you take advantage of the after care program. Very upfront about the risks, although I had researched it enough to know. I would rate him high enough that if my own child needed the surgery I would bring them to him. Had no problem with the surgical competence, or the bedside manner.
