Giselle Hamad Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
I love Dr. Hammad and her staff. She is amazing and her PA Mike is great! He always answers all my questions and is super nice. I can't wait for her to do my surgery, I'm almost there. Hopefully will have it before Christmas! I couldn't have picked a better surgeon, I'm so glad she is doing my gastric bypass! I'd recommend her to anyone!
Dr. Hamad is a God sent for me. She is amazing all around. When I saw her for my first consultation appointment, she listened to everything I needed to talk about. I never felt like I wasn't important to her or that I was on a time limit. She was even walking out of the room and I had a last minute question, she came all the way back in the room, shut the door and talked all about it with me. She explained to me all my options and honestly answered me when I asked what her opinion of which surgery I should have, we mutually agreed on Bypass. She honestly told me Lap Band and Sleeve wouldn't help me, she will be open and honest with you about everything. She told me all the risks of the surgery and how often she sees them. She has 21 years of experience and you can tell she definitely knows what she is doing. Her team is also wonderful. I have had no problems with any of them. I told her she came highly recommended and she took none of the credit, she said it's all her team. I haven't had surgery yet so I don't know about bed side manner and all that but from what I've heard, it's great so when i have it, I'll let you know. If your thinking about surgery, go see Dr. Hamad!
Dr Giselle Hamad is a wonderful wonderful doctor. My friend recommended her as I was considering the sugery. At the begining, I was headed to Sewickley to have the procedure done. I have NEVER been so please with the decision to switch & have this bypass done by Dr. Hamad.
Dr. Hamad is caring, personable and genuine. When you are having a technique such as the bypass done, the skilled person is the one to select...no question & she fills the bill. I admire her and wish her well with everything she takes on. She is the best in my book.
By the way, don't want to post without saying her staff is SUPER also !!!

I absolutely love, love, LOVE Dr Hamad. I feel so comfortable with her. She answered all my questions and never made me feel like I was on a time limit at my appt. Her PA-C Mike is also great!!
The entire staff that I've dealt with personally or on the phone are pleasant, welcoming, and most helpful!
My surgery is scheduled for November 2012. I can't wait to be her next success story. I have 100% confidence in her and her team!
I met Dr. Hamad in October for the first time. She is very pleasant and seems very easy to talk to. She was really honest with me and my Mom about the procedures and the possible outcomes of them both. I was really pleased and felt confident after our meeting. The staff at Magee's are really caring and patient. From the first person to the last person I had encountered that day they all seemed really sweet and helpful. I have contacted them a few times since this meeting, and they are very prompt and resourceful. I am very happy to have choosen the surgeon and facility I have.
When I went to look for a surgeon I researched the doctors in my area that did gastric bypass. As soon as I saw Dr. Hamad, she caught my eye. I noticed right away that she had attended Johns Hopkins University for medical school and had also spent some time at MIT. I knew when I saw that, this was the surgeon for me. I asked around about her from other patients and she got glowing reviews from everyone.rnrnShe was very direct with me when I met her; she looked me in the eyes the entire time while she spoke to me. I never felt like I was being judged about what I weighed. rnrnI was told by the nutritionist and from reading people’s blogs that Dr. Hamad is very strict about not gaining any weight between the initial consultation and the time you have your surgery. This is true, you can’t gain weight or she will cancel your surgery, but… I feel like, you really need to get in control before you have this surgery. You will not succeed if you do not change your life, and the way you eat. So, I do not think this is an extreme thing to ask of the patients. Dr. Hamad is doing it for your own good.rn rnThe morning of my surgery she showed up in the waiting area and I felt calm when I saw her. I knew I had made the right decision, and I was right. Dr. Hamad has given me back my life. I am very thankful to her.
My first impression was that Dr. Hamad was very impressive and that she genuinely cared about me, as her patient. My impression has not changed over time. Dr. Hamad works in a group of other surgeons and has the friendliest, most knowledgeable and most responsive staff of any doctor I've visited. With respect to post-op diet, Dr. Hamad is a bit more restrictive than her colleagues but she is only concerned with her patients' success. Dr. Hamad strongly emphasizes aftercare. She (and her staff) have a very specific plan that they want patients to follow after surgery. The risks of surgery were addressed through a 6-month class beforehand (the class met once a month) and multiple office visits. She also gave me a lot of written material addressing the surgery. I think Dr. Hamad is fantastic. Both her surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
I have nothing bad to see about my surgeon. She is very patient and kind. I felt very comfortable with her from the moment I met her. She came in to pre-op to talk to me before the surgery and she knew that I had no family with me, so she took my mother's number down and called her after my surgery was completed. I was very thankful for that. She is very strict about what you can have after surgery and I need that in order to be a success. She came in to talk to me the last day of my stay at the hospital and she was very pleased with the outcome and my recovery. I thank God for her and her team, they did a wonderful job.
First impression was good, but surprised I had to go through 3 months of lifestyle classes and watch a video before even meeting her. Staff has been very nice so far, and answer all of my questions quickly when I call them. I haven't really found anything that i dislike about this doctor yet. I have heard that she is the strictest surgeon at this hospital and does not allow any caffiene after surgery-even decaf drinks and you must be nicotine free 30days before surgery or it will be canceled. All questions of mine were answered well and she adressed the risk of surgery very upfront. I do not have surgery until next month so I can not yet rate this suregeon.
My first impression of my surgeon was that her bedside manner sucked, but I heard she was the best at what she did.rnWell when I saw her after that initial consult my opinion changed. After all she was pregnant (and delivered a few days after she did my surgery) so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She was great, and I had no problems. She was very straight forward about what I coud expect, what the complications could be, and what I needed to do to make this work. And she sent me home with home health coming in to make sure that I was ok. I can't wait to see her in a few months (she is off on maternity leave) so she can see my progress.
