The worst experience I ever had with a doctor. He has no idea what an obese person goes through on a daily basis. He talks down to obese patients from a "us skinny people" point of view. Not encouraging and not open to understanding his patients difficulties in adapting to a new way of eating and living post op. He's completely ignorant to the weight loss struggle post op patients go thru to regain their lifE. I highly recommend any other doctor but this JERK.

Dr. Brody was much more engaged when I had my revision/lap-band removal in March 2012. I felt cared for and attended to - especially in recovery. I work mostly with the RNs and nutritionist, but he's just a very straight-forward surgeon. Not alot of sense of humor shown or warmth, necessarily, but he gets the job done and I trust him. He's doing my RNY in January 2013.

I met with Dr. Brody for a few minutes and he seemed very blase about the whole thing. He had students with him. He asked if I had any questions and I didn't really, so that was it. I told him about my resistance to pain killers and my fear of \"awareness\" because it's very difficult for me to be knocked out, and he just said that I should speak to the anaestesiologist about that :(, but he said everything \"would be fine.\" rnI have had so many problems with his staff providing me with correct information, following up with the insurance company, losing documents, etc. I don't really feel \"cared for\" by Dr. Brody and his staff - more like I'm just another stomach to be banded. I hope that he's more involved just prior and after the surgery.

Dr. Brody is a caring and kind consummate professional. He and Melissa took the time to consider all of my medical conditions before coming up with the correct weight loss surgery for me. On surgery day Dr. Brody was there to explain everything again and reassure me and my husband. I was a little overwhelmed by the number of people that showed up to take care of me. It seemed like I had my own personal operating room army. My surgery was in the morning and I was up walking that evening. Dr. Brody came to see how I was doing in ICU where I received top-notch pain management care. Dr. Brody called me at home to make sure I was still doing okay. Office follow up with Melissa has been both reassuring and informative. I continue to receive great care from the Medical Faculty Associates team.
If anyone in my family needs surgery in the future, I’d certainly recommend they seek Dr. Brody’s help.

I visited Dr. Brody for a consult, and we agreed I was a good candidate for a VSG. I liked him, and thought he knows his stuff. His staff assured me that my insurance would cover it. WRONG! I learned later that they had NEVER had a patient with my relatively low BMI covered for a sleeve by my insurance. Seems like that would have been worth mentioning before I did a whole bunch of visits for psych eval, nutritionist, etc..
Another staff person then said that he may drop me as a patient because of my insurance problems (wrong) and that he wouldn't write me a letter of support for my appeal (wrong). Basically his staff didn't want to deal with anyone with insurance problems, and they were very unsupportive. I'm surprised he puts up with this.
In addition to my insurance appeals, I am thinking about self-pay. I like Dr. Brody just fine and I think he'd do a good surgery, but I have to say his staff is a big part of why I might decide to take my business elsewhere. Not that they care.

Dr. Brody is fantastic! Simply the BEST. My experience with him was incredible. Highly recommend him to anyone serious about WLS. He is a no nonsense type of Doctor who tells you straight up what you situation is and what he will be able to do for you if you follow his instructions. I am happy to report that his surgical competence appears to be second to none and I think he has a pleasant bedside manner.

August 6, 2008 (update)rnDr. Brody was very nice. I was glad to see him when it was time for me to get discharged. It would have been nice for him to visit my room after the surgery and/or before he left the hospital instead of the student interns/doctor.rnrnrnMay 2008rnDr. Brody is now my new surgeon (2008). He was direct and to the point. I only spent about 10-15 minutes with him and he was mostly just reviewing my questionnaire. His admin staff handles the preliminary stuff until you are approved by your insurance, I guess.rnSo far his office staff has been pretty decent and professional. It is sometimes hard to get through to his staff by phone so I'm not quite sure if I had any questions, he would answer them. I will have to wait and see how long it takes for them to get all of my paperwork to the insurance company for approval. Will keep you posted.rnrn

I met with Dr. Brody and the NP on 12/28/07. I was told that I would be an excellent canidate for lap-band, gastric bypass was too invasive and never an option for me. Dr. Brody was quick and to the point. After a few minutes, I began to like him. What I don't particularly care for is that the NP will do the fills not Dr. Brody, that concerns me. However, I look forward to a surgery date, I was told that I should know something in the next week or two. I do not look forward to the Optifast, but I will do it.
