Dr. Veninga was very impressive from day one. I first attended his seminar where I learned about the different procedures. I filled out my online application and sent it to his office. His staff contacted me very quickly and sent my file off to my insurance carrier. I have United Healthcare and within 20 days I had an approval for my surgery and scheduled my surgery date with Dr. Veniga's office. My surgery date was 12-8-04. The day before surgery I went to Trinity Medical of Carrollton, TX to do all my test, EKG, Blook work, Chest X-ray's. I was very impressed with everything. I showed up at 7am on the 8th and everything went very smooth. I went in at 7am and went home by 5pm the same day. I have been extreamly pleased with everything that has taken place with me and Dr. Veninga's practice. His nursing staff is wonderful and Trinity Medical was great! The only thing that I would have liked is that the day of surgery Dr. Veninga got very busy and was not able to come back by and see me to talk to me before I was discharged. He did speak with my husband after the surgery while I was in recovery and spent good time with him, but I would have liked to talked to him before I left. I did call and speak to the nursing staff the next morning and she said he appologized for not seeing me off. I have a follow up next week and I will see him then.
Dr. Veninga is really great, actually. He was about 5 minutes late to my initial appointment but immediately apologized and explained he was with his kids and just honestly lost track of time. I respect honesty and so I wasn't the least bit bent out of shape about it.
After my surgery and before he released me from the hospital, he must have spent at least an hour sitting and talking to me and my husband about the surgery, after care and the etc.
He can sometimes seem abrupt, but he's a really awesome doctor. I feel lucky to have stumbled upon him.
I first met Dr Veninga when my sister had her bariatric surgery in April 2004. He is a very nice man and has a good bedside manner. He is very concerned about his patients. My impression has only changed for the better. His office staff are wonderful as well. They are every bit as concerned as is Dr. Veninga.I have not found anything that I do not like about the Dr. or his staff. For future patients i would suggest looking at his web site and if you are serious about wls call his office and make an appt. Dr. Veninga does suggest his aftercare program. He does address the risk of the surgery. Overall rating 100%. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are GREAT.
My first impression with Dr.Veninga was good.He made me feel comfortable and answered all questions for me.His office staff was extremely helpful and friendly. There really isn't anything that I don't like about my doctor or his staff. If you are thinking of using Dr.V I think that you will be pleased. He is very caring and honest. To him no question is a silly question. He also has a great aftercare program.
Dr. V is a great guy. He sits down with you and tells you like it is. No mumbo-jumbo or fancy words for you to interpret. He will tell you the whole story so don't be in a rush. And that's not a bad thing, this is a life changing surgery so listen, there are risks. His staff is great they work their hardest for you. Dr. V you get an A+.
First impression of him was good, he is very knowledgeable and well spoken. His office staff is great, especially his nurse, Barbara. I think if it wern't for her, I would not have got my approval for the surgery.
The aftercare is good, and a structured program. They thoroughly cover all the risks.
I would rate Dr. Veninga and staff very high. I was happy with everything overall, with the exception of the dietician. I did not think the information I was given from her was relative to me with lap band surgery. Other than that, I have been quite happy with things.
My first impression of Dr. Veninga was a person that had great knowledge of how to perform weight loss surgery and that I was putting my life in the hands of someone who knew what he was doing. I had a very bad experiance after surgery their were surgical sponges left in side my stomach, later it was put in my medical records that "It was Surgiceal". I have never been so sick and just wanted to die in my whole life. I had a gastric bleed which after that everything seem to have just went down hill. Dr. Veninga's office staff was very friendly from what I remember. I don't remember any unpleasant situations with his office staff. I was no longer live in the Lewisville area but before I moved I received a letter shortly after my surgery that Dr. Veninga was going I guess you could say a long vacation. I hear he's back again. I remember a Dr. Doe that was called in on my surgery to help fix the mess that was made... Thanks Dr. Doe if you're out there! Dr. Veninga's office had a pretty structured aftercare program. The risk and complications where never expressed enough in my book. Maybe he had a bad day on Dec 6th 2001, I don't know but I know that my life from that day to this one would never be the same. Dr. Veninga had a nice bed side manner, he seemed to be surgically competant, but the lord knows its only by his grace that I'm here today!
