Dr. Veninga is a wonderful, honest, and careing surgeon. I had a small complication during surgery but it all came out victorious. He made sure to let me know that I would be the ultimate success of this new journey in my life. If I follow the guidelines he has laid out after surgery the weight will come off and stay off. He preached to me over and over the risk of eating too much and the affects of sugar and bad carbs to the stomach. The office staff were nice from beginning to end. Dr. Veninga is very down to earth and honest. "Thank you and your staff for taking care of me and making my family feel secure after the surgery was over."

I want to thank Dr. Veninga and his staff for working with me for my VGS surgery. I live over 200 miles away (one way) from my surgeon and hospital. They worked with me so I could have all my pre-op testing and exams done locally. Amazing to go the extra mile for me so I would not have to go so many miles. My surgery was 1-6-14 and I have to say it was perfect. Professionally handled with great concern to make sure I was comfortable and well informed. Surgery was at 8 am and I was in my room and wide awake by 4 pm. As a matter of fact I was up, dressed and walking the halls within 30 minutes of being fully awake. The hospital staff was kind and considerate while being encouraging. I did not hurt, only slight discomfort. Day two I was released by 1 pm so I would have plenty of time to make the long trip home. Thanks everyone for doing that for me. I rested on day three but by day four I was up and walking my neighborhood again. I did a mile and a half walk that day (I was doing 3 miles a day before surgery) and by day 7, I am up to 2.5 miles a day. Feeling great! Again, thanks so for treating me well and making sure I was well informed.
Dr V is wonderful. When or if you have a question, he is the one who is there to answer them. (Yes - even after hours) You are never staffed out to another doctor. Dr. V will take the time to answer all of your questions. His nurse Barbara is awesome. She is a patient as well so she knows what we are going through and is always available to lend a supporting hand. If you are looking for a great team, then look no further that North Texas Bariatrics and Dr. Veninga.
I first began my preparation for lap-band in June 2009 (I think) by startin a supervised diet which my insurance required. I began Weight Watchers at 421 pounds. Ny surgery was in Oct 2009 (I think. I progressed very well and lost down to about 300. Then my life got in turmoil and I lost my motivation and quit trying. I didn't gain back, thank goodness but I wasn't losing either. Now, I have got my head on straight and am once again working at losing this weight.
Dr. Veninga and his entire staff are wonderful and very caring about their patients.
I like Dr. V and his staff. I've met with them two times before surgery. One time for the consult and education. The other time for the educational seminar.
I am very impressed with the sense of caring that I feel from everyone at the office. They answered all my questions completely.
Once I was at the hospital and had the surgery, I came to like Dr. V. even more. He popped in the room twice a day, asked questions about my health, but also asked questions to my family. He genuinely made time to get to know us as people.
He encourages people to follow the plan, take care of themselves, and reminds to call the office with any questions or concerns.
I really liked Dr.Veninga from the beginning. His staff was so friendly. You felt right at home. Dr. V took the time to even tell me what got him into Bariatric surgery & that was very impressive to me. He is a very knowledgable, self confident, soft spoken man. He definately emphasized aftercare. He was VERY clear on all the risks of the surgery. Overall I was very satisfied. Both surgical competence & bedside manner are important. There is nothing worse then a doctor with no personality..Yikes !
I had my surgery on 7/16/2008, Dr. Veninga was absolutely GREAT! When I had my first meeting with him he told me exactly what would happen before, during, and after surgery. His office staff is wonderful also! After surgery he came in and spoke with both my husband and I. I have never had any problems and have had one fill since surgery. Overall I would definately recommend him to anyone wanting lapband surgery.
