It has been said that opportunity only knocks once. That may or may not be true, but as we went to informational meetings, and met with the Doctor's staff, it all seemed like an amazing opportunity to make a major step forward in becoming healthy in a dramatic new way. Dr. Bonnani looked me square in the eye and said, 'This will add 20 years to your life.'
At no time did anyone say this would be easy. It has not been easy, but it has been effective. With his hand on my shoulder, Dr. Bonnani told me he would advise me in the same manner he would advise his own father. At every point in the process, his hand was literally and figuratively on my shoulder.
I wanted Gastric Bypass surgery, and he advised Vertical Sleeve Gastrectemy, because of my health, age and co-morbidities. I knew the surgery was the beginning of a journey, not the end, and I knew that I would need to do my part to make the process as effective as possible.
The surgery went just as he said it would. It was more of a big deal than I expected. I had my wife at my side, without whom I would not have been successful at all.
I began walking every day (seven days a week) as soon as I had the strength to do so. By my two month anniversay I was walking an hour and a half a day. At two months I joined the Y and go six days a week. At my three month anniversay I was told I was (weight loss, co-morbidities and overall health) where they hoped I would be at six months. It isn't easy, but it is possible and effective, just as Dr. Bonnani and his staff said it would be.
I think this has been harder than I expected, but I think that I have it in my power to make the most of this opportunity or not. How foolish I would be to take this any less seriously than I possibly can.
I thought I would heal up quicker, I thought the process would get easier after the surgery. It hasn't and every day I decide to eat as I should and go to the Y or not. Every day, every day, every day, forever.
What's the big deal? I have lost 65 pounds in three months, I DON'T HAVE DIABETES ANY MORE, my blood pressure is 103 over 60, I don't take six medications I used to take, and I don't use my C-PAP machine any more, because I don't need it. That's the big deal. Is it worth it? Every day I live in new health and hope it is so worth it, and I am so grateful.
Thank you Dr. Bonnani and your great staff.
Dr. Bonanni is great. He seems very interested in helping. I have had the opportunity at this point to meet him twice, once during my first consult and the second time when he performed my EDG. He was very kind and offered to help if I was having trouble getting things ready for my surgery. I really have no complaints about him or any of his staff. They are all very supportive and helpful. It is really interesting and uplifting to walk in to a place where people walk around with a smile on their face. So far there process seems very structured. I'm kind of a rare exception to the way they do things as I travel 4 hours to his office. My husband did extensive research on the whole process and there were exceedingly exceptional recommendations for this clinic and for Dr. Bonanni. Whenever the staff at Warminster can they work around my schedule. They really want to help.
There is absolutely nothing bad I can post about Dr Bonanni, or anyone on his team at Abinginton Hospital Bariatric Center. Everyone is attendive and truly interested in your success.rnDr Bonanni is warm, caring, and looks directly at you when he speaks. He has a great sense of humor. rnTo me, one of the major signs of a great surgeon, is how his staff and hospital staff reacts to him/her. I witnessed how the everyone seems to smile and enjoy interacting with Dr BonannirnOn a scale of 0 - 10, I give it a 10 and I am not easy to impress.
I had my surgery at The Reading Hospital & Medical Center and Dr. Bonanni was my Doctor that performed the surgery and Dr. Beetle saw me as well. I could not be happier with both of them. My follow up has been with Dr. Ku who is now the surgeon on staff. He is also wonderful, personable and gives you the time you deserve.
well i had dr bonanni assistant dr g who also does surgery with dr bonanni,He was very nice, told u everything u needed to know about the surgery and different ones, after surgery he came to my room at least two times a day to make sure everything was good.he is a very kind man and made me very comfortable
First impression: busy, down to earth, skilled, insightful.rnrnImpression further showed impressive credentials, strength and compassion.rnrnOffice staff: Remarkably well tuned and smooth running. Impressive set-up.rnrnLeast liked - feel rushed at times.rnrnFuture patients should know he is worthy of respect. He is a dynamo, committed to the very best health care and program. And just as he is committed, he expects his patients to be committed. He will let you know if you are not following the program. rnrnAftercare: highly emphasized.rnrnRisks of surgery very well explained.rnrnSurgical competance is uppermost in my mind.
I knew Dr. Bonanni through work and was always inpressed with his bedside manner. He and his office are pretty busy, and sometimes it is down right impossible to get an answer (pre op). I had some complications after my surgery due to my anatomy and Dr. Bonanni was a true advocate for me and my husband. That was just the most amazing thing. Thank you Dr. Bonanni.
