Dr. Chute was a great comfort to me and to my husband.rnrnHe knows his business well and he makes yournfeel very much at ease with him and to ask him any questions at anytime.rnrnThank you Dr. ChuternAftercare is a very important part of him allowing you to get the surgery. They are very specific to make sure that you are a good match for having the surgery and can follow through on what is required to be a successful WLS canidate.rnrnThey are not out there to just make money and fill there schedules- they require pre-op rntesting for all - and you need to understand what is going to be expected out you. And if you are not a good canidate they will not schedule the surgery for you.rnrnHe gives no false hopes- if anything I think he is rather on the low side of what can be expected for weight loss after the surgery-rnI just had mysurgeryon May 15th- and I am home on liquids- no problems at this time-rnbut if I have them I know there is a full support staff to help me at Dr. Chutes' office and at Abott Northwest Hospital. Just a call away any time day or nite.rnThank you allrnLeern
Dr. Chute seems to be an upstanding doctor in his profession of bariatric surgery.
I was impressed by his calm nature and he seems very well educated and caring of his patients. The office staff are super!! Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable as well, and concerned with the patients' well-being. My understanding is that the aftercare program will be very structured post-op.
Overall, the surgeon and the clinic are tops in my opinion.
Very nice, calm and focused on his work.
Dr. Chute seems very knowlegable and came highly recommended by my husbands' PCP.
The staff at Minneapolis Bariatric are GREAT!
Each time I visited, I felt welcome and they made it easy for me to relax. Dr. Chute and his staff have constantly emphasized how important aftercare will be and they do have a very structured aftercare plan in place for their patients. Overall, I would say the thusfar that I have received has been fabulous.
I thought that it was about time that I shared with others the way that I feel about Dr. Chute and his staff. I was absolutely in shock when I read what another woman from Minnetonka wrote! I want everyone to know MY story. I went for my consultation with Dr. Chute and yes, he is a very serious man, however this is a very serious surgery! He was a complete gentleman and a great listener. The man is all heart! He was able to answer all of my questions and most importantly wanted me to know that he cared about me and that I could call anytime day or night. I will always remember the way that his staff treated me. I knew that I was in the right hands. Everyone was REALLY excited for me to have my surgery and start loosing weight. They were ALL very professional and understanding of what I was going through. Also, they all seem to really love what they do and know how to have a good time with the patients! I had my surgery almost 16 months ago and have lost over 150 pounds! My calls have always been returned and I have never had a problem when I have needed to get through to ANY of them!!! I am a stay at home mom and I understand the fact that people only work certain days of the week. It has never been a problem for me. Another thing about Dr. Chute that I think people should know, is that he called me the Friday night before my surgery to see how I was doing and to let me know that he was going to have a relaxing weekend so that he would be ready for me on Monday. That is one special Doctor! Oh, and yet another thing about Dr. Chute, this man really wants me to be the best that I can be. He once told me that with weight loss and working out, he wants me to look like I could run in a triathalon and what is so amazing about this is that it is not something that I would have ever thought of myself and he sees the potential there for me. He has faith in me and that makes me want to do better. I think about my stay at Abott and I do not have as nice of things to say about that place though. The nurses did not seem to have time to care for the patients. At one point, I needed to go to the bathroom and had to "buzz" them 4-5 times before someone came strolling in to see what I needed. I had a private room which was nice for me, however I truely felt alone. The staff over there is a big zero in my book! When I called back to speak to the diatician 2 weeks after my surgery, she no longer worked there and I was told that they had a "big" turn over in the last two weeks. I am just thankful that the hospital stay was only one night and Dr. Chute and his staff are forever. I highly recommend Dr. Chute and his staff to anyone. They have made a nice addition to my family. I will never be able to Thank them enough! I sincerely wish that everyone could have had this great of an experience.
I had already read everyone else's comments about Dr. Chute's "serious side". I didn't want a clown operating on me, so this didn't bother me as much as it did others.
Clearly, we are very different personalities. Chute seems very rigid and likes to follow rules. I am more the defiant type of personality. Tell me NO and I'll just do it anyway! But I wouldn't want me as a surgeon!
When my night nurse, John, came in with that little 1 oz shot glass of water, I just looked at him and said, "Honey, that better be Tequila and I hope you brought salt!!" Made him laugh. Dr. Chute probably would not have laughed!
I really felt a disconnect with Chute's staff. My application went into a "black hole" which I was later told was Judy Schwartz's briefcase. It was there for weeks. She forgot to put my weight on the insurance form and then it was denied. Had to appeal. Christa in scheduling refuses to return phone messages if you leave them on MONDAYS. Grow up! Everyone else works Mondays and leaves phone messages.
Overall, I wouldn't give Chute's staff very high marks. They all seem to have their own agenda with no regard to the patient. Just my observation.
Moreover, DO NOT CHECK INTO ABBOTT UNLESS THEY CAN GUARANTY YOU A PRIVATE ROOM. I had the NIGHT FROM HELL with an old lady as "roommate". I was so frickin tired when I checked myself out early the next morning... I was ready to go put a pillow over her face. Seriously, how are you suppose to recover when you're sharing a room with someone who has a breathing alarm go off every few minutes, has blood test and the nurses turn on all the lights at 2 am, she snores and farts more than the Vikings Team combined, and then by the time I finally did get to sleep by 6:30 am only to be woken at 7 a.m. by the old lady going into arrest. Half the staff on the floor was in our room bumping into my bed, opening the curtain so I would see them ventilating her (makes me want to puke). I was so frickin tired and in pain I checked myself out of the hospital 4 hours early. I coudn't take 1 more minute of that place.
They make you sign all these "PRIVACY" forms, but then you get NO PRIVACY when you check in.
Ironically, I found out that the admistrative staff decided to take larger pay increases over giving patients more private rooms.
How special!! Shows they really care about their patients :(
I think Dr. Chute is a very professional person.
He also has nice staff working on his team they are all very friendly and courteous.
He really put emphasis on aftercare like: exercise, protein, vitamins and so on. I would definately recommend other people who are thinking about bariatric surgery to him.
In my experience Dr. Chute was caring, serious, straight forward and honest. He explained the surgery in detail and was very patient with all of my questions. I'd give him 10 stars out of 10. I saw him both before and after the surgery, as well as the next day in the hospital and for the first two follow-up visits. Office staff excellent. Emphasizes aftercare. Both his surgical competence adn bedside manner are great. I have no negative comments.
On first meeting, he seems like a very kind and caring man. He was very thorough in explaining the surgery, risks, possible complications, and expectations. Dr. Chute gave me all the time I needed to ask questions, and I was satisfied with his answers. His office has a structured aftercare program, and Dr. Chute made it clear that my success depends on how well I adhere to post-op guidelines. I feel totally confident in his care.
