i had the gastric sleeve. he’s the best! very happy with my results so far and his office. he’s an excellent surgeon! i felt safe in his hands. very down to earth too!

I used Dr. Ewing for my lap band in 2012 and my recent vsg revision surgery. He is an amazing surgeon and has great bedside manner. I have the utmost respect for him and would highly recommend him to anyone considering wls.

I had a sleeve done on Sept 16 2014. Dr. Ewing is absolutely fantastic. He is cool was cool as a cucumber as I sat across from him nervously chattering before surgery. I said to him "Doc, I'm so freaking nervous." He smiled and said, "It's normal to be nervous before surgery; and I'm not nervous, so you have nothing to worry about." I was immediately at ease.
He patiently answered all of my many questions pre and post op and I never felt rushed or like he was too busy or preoccupied. As a healthcare provider myself, I truly value this about Dr. Ewing. After I was discharged from the hospital, he called me twice to make sure I was doing well and that I understood all the discharge instructions.
The staff in the office is always helpful, and Katerina, the case manager, is very efficient and always returns calls and helps to guide you through the daunting preop process.
Finally, I greatly commend Kathy the postop program nurse. A few of us met with her 1 week postop to review the healing and nutritional phase process. She is a very smart, well-spoken and informative. She has a very nice way of explaining everything so that you can understand, and she was very helpful answering all of our questions. I am a nurse myself, and I really value good patient education, and Kathy delivers above and beyond!

Dr. Ewing was recommended to be by one of his many happy patients. I just finished thanking them for referring me to this excellent surgeon. I am ten days out from my surgery and I have had no pain at all and no complications. His wonderful staff fully prepared me for every step of the journey.
I felt complete confidence in Dr. Ewing. His qualifications are outstanding and he is calm and reassuring.
I wish there were more stars because I would gladly give him 10!

Dr. Ewing at Advanced Laproscopic associates was referred to me by a friend of mine who had lap band preformed by him about 1 1/2 years ago.
My surgery was July 2, 2014, I am 3 1/2 weeks post op.
Upon meeting Dr. Ewing at one of their seminars. I immediately liked his professionalism and the way he spoke. I scheduled my appointment for my first consultation with him and I felt very comfortable as he answered my questions. I was able to pre book my surgery that day to get the ball rolling and had my approval and surgery exactly month to the day.
I have to say that I had the perfect surgery and was able to go home the next day. He made me feel very comfortable at the hospital before my surgery, and made sure he answered all our questions.
I was surprised to find when I woke up from surgery I had NO pain. (Of course they pump you up with pain meds) but I have woken up from other surgeries in the past in pain, so I was very happy not to wake up in pain.
But what surprised me more was that I NEVER took one pain pill when I got home. I never even opened the Rx bag. I had NO PAIN and was walking around like I never had surgery. My husband and I couldn't believe it. I would have to say Dr.Ewing is a excellent surgeon who is very talented at what he does.
The office staff is very punctual and they inform you of everything you need to know. Also the nutritional classes and the after support are great.
I'm glad I had this done. I'm not hundreds of lbs over weight but I do have the health issues and
I'm already off most my meds except one.
I highly recommend Dr.Ewing. I give him 5 stars

I had my surgery on July 10, 2014. I visited Advanced Laparoscopic Associates and chose for Dr. Douglas Ewing to perform my Gastric Sleeve surgery. My experience with him was excellent! He answered all questions I had and was very friendly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who was considering him for their surgery.

Dr. Ewing has incredible credentials which is what led me to select him over the other Dr.'s in the group. He's quite a smart fellow and a very skilled surgeon. I unexpectedly ran into a friend of mine while awaiting surgery who is a nurse in the bariatric surgical waiting area. She confirmed that he has an excellent reputation. He performed my surgery on 6/28 and I was very satisfied with the entire experience. His cool,
professional,detached scientist's demeanor somehow inspires confidence and is rassuring. I highly recommend him and the group in general. A great all encompassing program with a caring and effective team at all levels.

I had VSG surgery with Dr Ewing on Jan 10 2012. I waited a few weeks to post a review because I was waiting for something to go wrong. Much to my delight and surprise everything has gone amazingly well. Dr Ewing presented himself very well at the initial seminar with the other doctors from his group. I chose him because of his personality and attention to detail. In the hospital prior to surgery he was very understanding to my nervousness and kept me calm prior to surgery. After surgery he was very through and explained how the entire procedure to my husband and even contacted my primay doctor to inform him of the surgical outcome. Overall I have had nothing but a positive experience with Dr Ewing and his entire office staff.
