I am just 5 days post op but 7 months in the Bariatric program with Dr Baranov and his team. I live 1hr south of Saratoga Springs and could have chosen the “big” Albany Hospitals. I did extensive research and found Dr Baranov to be the best in Upstate NY. I couldn’t be any happier and I know because of the education and support they’ve shown I will continue to be successful. They have been accommodating at every step, honest and helpful. Amazing Doctor, Amazing team!!!

Great doctor. Dr Baranov is an amazing doctor. I would highly recommend him. He tells you up front what he will be doing and is very honest about everything. If you ever had a question he is always willing to answer. He cares a lot about his patients.

Dr. Baranov and his team are extraordinary in their practice and care. They provide honest and up front information about bariatric surgery options. Not only is Dr. Baranov extremely knowledgeable, but he makes sure his patients are educated as well. He is extremely thorough in his approach and manages your care with great detail. from dr. baranov to his p.a.'s, nurses, nutritionists and receptionists, the gastric bypass experience at saratoga hospital could not be more professional, accommodating, helpful, friendly, compassionate and caring. the doctor and his support staff truly care about the people they are trying to help. in my six-month run-up to surgery i learned a number of things about my health - besides the strain my weight was putting on my body. his staff set up appointments for me with the local sleep center (found out i have severe sleep apnea); the doctor assigned to address my vericose veins has begun a program to rid me of guaranteed complications; the psychologist visits helped me iron out some issues and make sure i understood the path i must now walk; the numerous discussions with his nutritionists have helped me to understand why i need to eat the way they suggest. none of this would have been brought to my attention or been made available to me without the roadmap provided by dr. baranov and his professional staff. since my surgery i have been contacted by his office on more than one occasion to make sure i am doing ok. when i need info, i have never had to wait for it. i can't shower enough praise on dr. dimitri baranov and the incredible professionals with whom he works. i didn't know what to expect on this lengthy, intense journey. and now that it's over, i can't believe how easy it all was. all the credit goes to the good doctor and his incredible office.

I was impressed with Dr. Baranov right from the start. He has a strict and professional manner about him while still making you feel comfortable and cared for as an individual. He was informative and always gave me an opportunity to ask questions or voice concerns. I really felt like I was in control of my own care.

On 1/8/2018 Dr. Baranov preformed my gastric sleeve surgery and although I'm only a five days post-op I couldn't be more appreciative and thankful for the awesome care and attention I've received thus far. I was absolutely impressed when Dr Baranov took time out of his busy schedule to personally call me on a Sunday at 8:30pm just to find out how I was doing. That in itself speaks volumes about him. Hello Everyone. I don't normally do these reviews, but I feel that I MUST to one for Dr. Baranov. I originally had the gastric sleeve in 3/2015 (done by another surgeon), and immediately I had severe reflux with projectile vomiting progressing to aspirating GERD. I had multiple procedures done that never cured me only temporarily helped me. Fast forward to 9/2017 when I decided to see my GI doctor, he stated that the only cure for my GERD is to have it revised to the bypass. I reached out to Dr. Baranov, who reviewed and accepted my case and was going to revise my sleeve. He saw that I had severe reflux and agreed with my GI doctor. My revision was scheduled for 1/8/2018. I am 1 week post op and I have no pain, tolerating stage I diet well and ZERO GERD. He has CURED me. I am forever in his debt. He is so knowledgeable, professional and has a good bed side manner. Dr. Baranov actually called me at home to check on me (WOW).....A big THANK YOU goes out to Dr. Baranov, his office staff and the staff (especially Emily) at Saratoga Hospital. I look forward to being able to sleep FLAT again!!! I am forever grateful for his expertise.

It is my pleasure to review Dr. Baranov and his staff.  I had the sleeve surgery two days ago (11-13-2017) at Saratoga Hospital and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of pain the day of and night of the procedure.  The only discomfort was a very dry mouth and sore throat due to intubation, but they both went away after a few hours.  The little pain I did have, upon release from the hospital, was well taken care of by Tylenol.

My starting weight was 276, and I am hopeful of losing at least 100 pounds.  I've been too heavy most of my life, but especially so the past ten years.  I have wanted this surgery during that time, but my insurance (Medicare) did not pay until a year or so ago.  I live in southwestern Vermont, near Bennington, and although our local hospital has a plethora of excellent services, they do not offer bariatric surgery.  Thus I began to search the internet for a good doctor.  At first, I chose Dr. Baranov due to his location.  I haven't a car and my friend (Donna) was going to be driving me.  She and her husband had previously lived in Saratoga Springs so she knew the area.  I chose Dr. Baranov due to location, but then afterward I couldn't imagine having chosen a better surgeon ANYWHERE!  

Dr. Baranov IS very serious, as well he should be.  He will be holding your life in his hands.  My surgery was delayed this past year on two occasions due to family issues, and that of my primary care doctor refusing to sign approval for my having the procedure.  I had to fire her and find another.  Thankfully I found an excellent PCP nearby who was truly in favor of my taking this big step.  She knew how it could change my life.  She was supportive of this investment in my future.  Even more so, Dr. Baranov was/is too.  I only stayed in the hospital overnight and the next morning he came to see me about 7:30, then again that afternoon about 4:30.  During the latter conversation, it was good to see the doctor smile and laugh - I had said how very pleased I was, and that he and his staff were just the best.
