Dr. Baranov is very informative. He explained all of my options and what he thought would work best for me. On October 23, 2013 I had gastric bypass surgery. He told me the risks of having the surgery and what to expect after. When I was discharged from the hospital, he called me that weekend at home to make sure I was doing well. Not only does he genuinely care about his patients, but he has a lot of experience. I highly recommend Dr. Baranov to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery.

I had the RNY done with Dr. Baranov 11/06/2013, and I would highly recommend Dr. Baranov, as well as every last person who works with that program. Dr. Baranov is an amazingly talented doctor, who takes the time with every patient to answer any and all questions and provides viable alternatives to anything that might be steering you in the wrong direction. You can't help but to know he takes pride in his practice and wants you to have all the tools you need to succeed. Personal attention from Dr. Baranov and his staff are guaranteed to be a big part of what sets their program apart. No joke, from the nutritionist, to the nurses at the office and hospital (post-op), EVERY LAST person is phenomenal at what they do, and the program is so well managed that you are set up for 100% success for your journey, no matter where the road takes you. I could not be happier with my progress, and my experience so far with the Saratoga Bariatric Center has been top-notch!

Dr. Baranov and his team are amazing! Dr. B was very thorough in describing the types of Gastric Bypass procedures at his seminar and answering any questions. His team made me feel very comfortable and they were very helpful in scheduling appointments. My surgery went well and I am now 2 months post op. Dr. Baranov's and his team are still involved and stay updated on my progress through appointments and blood work. I recently had gastric sleeve surgery by Doctor Baranov. I have had health related issues over the last few years due to my weight and I never felt so confident with my health care providers as I did with Dr. Baranov and his excellent staff. My surgery was performed at Saratoga hospital the nurses who cared for me were wonderful, when talking with them everyone spoke so highly of Dr. Baranov they agreed his commitment to his patients was fantastic. In this day and age it is very unique when your physician stops in to see you 3 or 4 times a day while you are recovering in the hospital. Personal phone calls from your doctor upon your release shows he truly cares about you and your health. Dr Baranov is an excellent physician and an individual who is very committed to his patients.

Dr Baranov and his staff have given me my life back. I'm two months post op from the RNY procedure, and I'm off all 8 daily medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. My blood sugar levels have hovered right around 100, couldn't ask for anything better. Currently I've lost 64 pounds since my first visit during the Fall of 2013. Dr Baranov and his staff provided great detail on what to expect during every stage of the procedure. Every member of his staff make you feel like family, and each are so concerned with everyone's progress. I'd recommend Dr Baranov and his staff to anyone who is considering the RNY procedure in the greater Saratoga Springs area!

Had RNY on 2/10/14. Everything went perfectly. Very minimal pain. Only had 1 Percocet the first night (more to sleep than for pain). Spent 1 night in hospital. Highly recommend Dr. Baranov.
Office staff very professional and efficient

I was very impressed with Dr. Baranov from the first time that I met him at his orientation, I then met with him a few more times before my surgery and was still very impressed with his knowledge and care for you as a patient. His staff is also just as caring and helpful threw the entire process and I never felt like I was going threw this alone. They also have many support groups that you can talk to with people that have gone or are going threw this process also. Dr. Baranov is very detailed in what he wants and expects from you both before and after, he has taken the time to write out step by step instructions for your aftercare as that is very important to your health and weight loss. When I was in the hospital he checked on me several times a day and again went over what I needed to do to when I got home. I really don't have any complaints about him, if you smoke he wont take you on as a patient, for some this could be a negative thing. He knows what you need to do and so he emphasizes those things, he may come across as stern but he wants to make sure that you know what you are getting yourself into, it is a long and at times hard process but it is so worth it! I would definitely go and talk to him and see if he is right for you, I did and I am so glad that I did!

Let me start by saying that Dr. Baranov is beginning a new bariatric program in the Saratoga Springs area but by no means is he new to the bariatric specialty. He came into the Saratoga area last year to build a ground up program that never existed before. I was fortunate enough to be one of his first patients in this new practice and so far my expectations have far exceeded what I had imagined. At the time of writing this I have hit my 3 month mark post operatively. I had the Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass procedure done with Dr. Baranov at Saratoga Hospital. In 3 months I have lost 130 pounds and lost over 50% of my excess body weight. From my initial consultation up to today my experience has been nothing but outstanding. The office staff at Dr. Baranov’s office was compassionate, understanding, and patient with me as I worked to lose some weight prior to surgery. They have always been courteous and I never once felt like I was ever judged or made to feel bad or that I was a failure. The Saratoga Hospital staff was also amazing during the day of my procedure through me being discharged; every person I came in contact with was pleasant and more than helpful. For my review of Dr. Baranov I can promise you there is not enough space on this review panel to truly say how thankful I am for him and how amazing of a doctor he truly his. When I first went to see him to discuss options we spent more than hour talking about my lifestyle, the surgical options, his recommendations, and the steps needed to be successfully post-op and for the rest of my life. Immediately after talking with Dr. Baranov I started to feel comfortable. Every possible question I could come up with was answered with honesty and explained in a way that I could understand. I never feel rushed or like I was simply another number to him but I was truly an individual with individual needs that he made sure were met or exceeded in every aspect. One of the most comforting things I have taken away from my experience with Dr. Baranov is I now have a doctor who will do whatever it takes to ensure that my health and wellbeing are put first. Dr. Baranov and his staff have stepped up to the plate to ensure my pre-op requirements were all met, they fought my insurance company to make sure everything was covered, they even had a CPAP machine delivered to my hospital room the day I was discharged because he was so concerned about my sleep apnea that he would not let me go unless I had a machine at home. So what happens after discharge, well the ongoing care never ends, I have called the office with questions and spoke to someone who could answer them right there without even calling me back. I have had Dr. Baranov call my home during my recovery to ensure I was doing ok and following the eating and drinking rules he lays out for a successful recovery. I truly implore anyone who is debating weight loss surgery and is in the Saratoga Springs region to call his office and set an appointment, you will not be disappointed with the level of care you receive. Dr. Baranov and his bariatric team are no longer my health care providers but I truly think of them as part of my family now and am so grateful to all of them for truly saving my life.

I met Dr. Baranov at an informational session on bariatric surgery. I knew immediately he was the doctor for me. His knowledge and explaining of the subject left a great first impression. When I met individually with him he answered any question I had. He explained the surgery and what I had to do in preparation for it. His office staff always answered any questions I had. They returned my calls promptly. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone thinking of this surgery. He is articulate and makes sure he knows you and your medical history well. I felt reassured with him every step of the way. He is well organized with aftercare. I had no pain after the surgery. I felt so good it was hard to believe I had the surgery. He is a true asset to anyone contemplating the surgery.
