I am very impressed overall with Dr. Halmi, but less than stellar has been his present staff's ability to keep my records straight and accurate. I am, I admit a bit anal retentive in that area but it has paid off this time in that it has resulted in keeping my charts correct. I don't believe it is the Doctor's fault, it is hard to keep good staff sometimes. He is and to my understanding has solved his staffing problem, so don't be too worried, just be thorough in all your inspections of information that you give him and compare them to what's on your records.

My first impression is that I wasn't a number. He has been paitent in helping me through explaining to me what was happening with the painful strictures and what would happen with the revision process and getting approved After having dealt with another Bariatric Surgeon who at the last moment asked for Surgical Costs above what the HMO would pay for. I think he is a kind man who takes his time to give you the best results. Even though his office messed up with my initital surgery date he talked to me and apologized and explained what happend. I really appreciated his sincerity and overall real concern for my well being. I least liked that he seems to be busy when trying to call back and talk to him.

Dr. Halmi and associates have a great team. My surgery went very well and my recovery the same. I give credit to many prayers and the skill of Dr. Halmi , Dr. Tran and Renato Rafi, MSN-ANP.rnrnThe Potomac Hospital has a great new wing devoted to Surgical Weight Loss. Janice Lavoie, the director did a great job in communicating and follow up to see everything went well.rnrnThis was my first hospital experience at the ripe age of 50, and I am thankful to say it was a pleasant one.

I had originally consulted with and chosen another doctor to perform my gastric bypass surgery. As I was going through the process, the doctor's office contacted me and said that he would no longer be performing bypass surgeries. So I then had to search for another doctor and that's when I found Dr. Halmi.rnrnI set up an appointment to have a consultation with Dr. Halmi. Even before I met him, I knew I was in the right place. Sitting in the waiting room I listened to other patients as they shared their experiences. I was also able to observe how Dr. Halmi greeted and interacted with his patients. When I was called back for my consultation, I felt very comfortable with him. He is a very humble man and he made me feel that he genuinely cared for me. He was very attentive to my questions and concerns. He really took his time and explained everything to me in layman's terms.rnrnI honestly can't say one bad thing about my experience with Dr. Halmi. I feel that he provides me with excellent care and whenever I share with anyone contemplating having weight loss surgery, I always suggest that in their search for a physician that they consider Dr. Halmi.

UpdaternToday is April 4, 2008 and I have not changed my opinion of Dr. Halmi. He is just a very nice person. Very claming. I would highly recommend him.rnrnBritanny is just the tops. She always goes out of her way for us. rnrnMy husband had gastric bypass on Mar. 7, 07 and was 335. Today he is 172. Down from a size 52 waist to a 34. Mine has been much slower. But, I think my problem has been finding the correct fill. I had only lost about 25 lbs until my last fill on Mar. 25 and since then I have lost 7 lbs. Hopefully I am on the right road now. I feel much better.rnI do not believe that my husband would be alive now without having his surgery. He could not walk nor breath. He was on a cane and having much difficulty. Today, he walks everywhere. He has walked 5 miles while hunting and has a new lease on life.rnrnDr. Halmi is our hero. Thanks Dr. Halmi!!rn_________________________________rnrnI had my lap band surgery on Aug. 8, 2007 at Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge. That is an outstanding hospital. The nurses acted as if I was the only patient. I know they had others but they are just so special. What can I say about Dr. Halmi. On the morning of surgery, he was there waiting. On time. I think he is a wonderful surgeon and one of the sweetest persons I have met. rnrnThe day of my surgery I was pain free. Even got up and walked the halls 12 times before 11 p.m. I want to get my strength back ASAP. The second day of surgery was really painful. Today is the third day and the pain is lessening.rnrnrnMy husband had gastric bypass on March 7, 2007 and I will have the lap band on Aug. 8, 2007. Dr. Halmi was terrific with my husband. My husband was a high risk patient and he took every possible precaution with him. On March 7 he weighed 325 lbs. By July 1, he weighed 214 lbs. A weight loss of 111 lbs in 4 months. He doesn't even look the same. Dr. Halmi's office staff is very nice, although there is one that acted like she really didn't want to bothered with my husband's case and also with mine. I did all follow up with my insurance myself and did all the leg work. The nutritionist is extremely nice. We have attended some of the Staple Club meetings which is followup and support. Dr. Halmi is just great in these meetings. A terrific sense of humor and one of the most, if not the most, professional doctor I have ever meet. I tried to have weight loss surgery in 2003 and was told by Dr. Anez that I was not a candidate because of my Chrohn's disease. Thank goodness for the lap band. I am not worried about my upcoming surgery because I have complete confidence in Dr. Halmi. My only problem is that I will not loose as quickly as my husband. Word of advice--take all of the proteins, vitamins, calcium, etc. recommended for you. You will be hurting yourself and prolonging your recovery if you don't.

I just recently starting seeing Dr. Halmi concerning a possible revision. He told me on my last visit that he would \"fix\" me because my pouch was made to big to benefit me any longer. I am so pleased with the fact that he is really interested in whether or not I succeed in this journey. I go to see him on 04/07/2008 and from there we will discuss my options. I will update then.
