First impression was I hate to say kind of rushed. He came in and just went right into everything no beating around the bush seeing how I was doing or anything. It was as if he had 100 patients and I was just the next in line he needed to get thru. Don't get me wrong he wasn't mean or anything I just wished it would have felt so rushed if that makes any sense. rnSo far my impression hasn't changed post-op that much I saw him the first time to get approved for my 4 week class at OSU then again when I completed the class and set the surgery up. Then the only time I saw him was my last day or so in the hospital after the surgery when he came in for under 5 minutes and said surgery went great we're going to try and get you home. That was it nothing else. rnHis staff was pretty good. I think I talked with his nurses and admins more than him.rnWhat did I like least again I guess the sense of being rushed almost like I was cattle and just the next in line. It's hard to describe. rnWhat should future patients know? He's good. He's got a really good reputation. He proformed the surgery on me and I can't say I'm unhappy with the results I am. Just don't go in expected someone whose really empathetic and going to hold your hand thru it all because he's not. He's there to proform the procedure and that's it. rnWell it wasn't Dr. Mikami that stressed the aftercare so much as OSU as a whole. They have a pretty good and thourough Bariatric program that they've been successfully running for several years now. They've got it pretty much down to a science. rnAgain it's more OSU's program than Dr. Mikami's but Dr. Mikami follows this plan and did emphasis on it. rnDr. Mikami did stress the risk as I expected him to or any surgeon. rnI would rate him a 7 or 8 only because of bedside manner. rnI have to say with this type of surgery and the problems that can happen I would most absolutely take surgical competence over bedside manner. Although I do have to say that bedside manner does help. rn
My doctor is Dr.Mikami..He is very nice..and he he wonderful..He explained everything to me before I had my surger and even drew pictures..His staff is very nice as well..After I had my surgery on Sept.21st..The care I got from OSU was wonderful..they take very good care of you. I would like to thank Dr.Mikami and all of his associates that helped get me through my surgery and for their care after suregery. And I also would like to thank the nurses on the 10th floor at OSU for their wonderful care.rnrnThanks again Dr. Mikami.. your the best..rnand also to hi associates..rnrnI am now at home and doing very well.
Dr. Mikami has been really great through the whole process. He has answered any questions and his staff is really great and helpful.
I have my first follow up coming soon, and I am sure my good impressions will continue. My surgery and recovery so far have gone really well and Dr. Mikami's office was very responsive when I had a question post op.
Very friendly. Easy to understand and took the time to expain every step of the surgery.
My impression of Dr. Mikami has not changed. He is wonderful.
Office staff is great. Friendly and helpful.
I have not found anything that I don't like.
He does a wonderful job.
He emphasizes aftercare very strongly. Every time that you see him, you see the nutritionist bafore you leave.
Dr Mikami very clearly addresses the risks of having this surgery.
I give Dr. Mikami a 100+%
Both his surgical competence and his beside manner are equally fantastic!
I fell head over heels in love with him at my first visit. He walked in and sat down and looked me right in the eyes when he talked to me. He answered each and every one of my many questions completely. He let me know of all of the risks, all of the possible benefits to me and gave me the complete rundown how the first year would be for me. I respect him as a person and trust his ability as a surgeon. I had 5 previous abdominal surgeries with healing problems each time. He vowed to me to make every attempt to do the Lap RNY on me. He kept his word and cleaned up all my adhesions and scar tissue and did a beautiful job with my surgery. I would recommend him to anyone who was considering OSU for Bariatric surgery. He is supportive and has responded quickly to any problems I might of had.
On top of being a first class surgeon he is a wonderful human being, with a beautiful genuine smile and bedside manner.
