David Suh Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Suh was the assisting surgeon for my surgery. Dr. Francis Essien was the main surgeon. They both are with Crown Bariatric. The 1st time my husband and I met with Dr. Essien, he conveyed a professional and capable image. He seemed very confident of his skills and did not take the surgery lightly. His office staff is great. They are always able to assist you with any problems you may have. There is not really a structured aftercare program other than the office visits after surgery. Dr. Essien did address the risks of surgery, but minimized them. I would give him a high rating. He is very attentive, competent and just a nice guy.

He has a great staff, Mo is the bomb, she is the insurance coordinator, overall it's been a great experience so far, aftercare is a huge part of it all

David Suh is a quiet yet friendly considerate physician, quick and to the point. I am a matter of fact type person myself, a bottomliner, so we were very compatible. And he is cute as a button to boot! :)Also in his office is Francis Essian MD, very nice as well. Both had great credentials, good medical schools and residency programs and are board certified with no diciplinary actions by the medical board. Mo, their insurance lady in the office is FANTASTIC, always in a good mood and a wonderful spirit and help whenever you need it. Aftercare has been empasized greatly, it is up to me to make this successful! The risks of surgery were outlined, the structure of follow-up will be adheared to. I am rating him 4 stars! ( or is the top 5 stars now?). His surgical ability is fantastic, I was in and out in one hour, 7 minutes!!! I didnt see him enough to rate his bedside manner, but who cares? The surgery is the most important thing to me. I do have negative things to say about my aftercare in the hospital, but nothing bad to say about Dr. Suh or Dr. Essian.

I am very impressed with Dr Suh. With the visit I had today he made me feel very confident in his abilities.

The office staff has been very helpful. Especially Mo.

Future patients should know that he is very successful in doing laparascopic RNY. It is mostly what he does anymore.

Every patient is given a protocol booklet on their first visit and in that is all the information for before, during and after.

Dr. Suh is professional, courteous and explains the procedure in detail, but in a way that is understandable. He also has a degree in advanced Laparoscopic surgery (He performs all his surgeries laparoscopically). He has an amazing staff of qualified professionals. Mo takes care of insurance/billing etc. & is always ahead of the game, even though this is an extremely busy office.
Crown Bariatrics support group is a well-run & organized/informational bariatric support group run by an R.N. (Gwen) who had the surgery herself about 20 months ago.The doctors are also at these support meetings. Everyone introduces themselves, tells where they are in the process & ask the surgeons/nurse & other patients questions. They have drawings, great information & different snacks & drinks at the meeting.
I have gone to the Victorville & Wildomar meetings & they are both AWESOME!!

He seemed very pleasant and easy to talk to. By the time I actually met with him, (about 3pm with a 1pm appointment), I had answered most of my questions (with video and the info folder), and he filled in the blanks.
I like that he does primarily laproscopic surgery. His hospital is specially build for WLS, and the post-op patients I spoke with while waiting for him were very supportive of him.

Doctor Suh was very professional. He told me all the things that could go wrong and all the benifits of the surgery. He told me that people would tell me that I was taking the easy way out, but in fact I was not. He said there is nothing easy about what was going to happen. He also said that as long as I followed my diet plan and let it become a normal part of my life, then everything would fall into place. He talked of the risks involved and yes, that did give me great reason for pause and still does. I will admit I'm scared so if anyone out there has any calming words please send them my way.
Now having said all this, I saw doctor on tuesday and got the call today. Today being Friday, that the surgery would be on the 28th January. Today is the 10th.

Before I met Dr. Suh, I had talked with several hospital administrators and other doctors. He is held in high esteem by the community and by his colleagues. I totally agree.

He was always upbeat and professional; never minimizing risk or exaggerating up side.

Both the support group, which is mandatory, and the aftercare plans are well planned to ensure future success.

On a scale of 10, he's a 12 or better!!

Since I have NOT had my surgery yet the only time I have been in contact with my surgeon is during group support meetings.

My initial consultation was with his associate Dr. Dada. He was nice, not real informative. He let me know that I would be able to lose a great deal of weight. 100 lbs in the first year but if I exercised I would be able to lose 150 within 2 years. He told me if I couldnt give up Diet Pepsi or Ice cream not to have the surgery.

The office staff was very helpful and professional. There was a very long wait the first time I was in (over 2 hours) I didnt mind.

The Nurse on staff Sondra is Awesome.

When I left I had a handfull of prescriptions for tests I had to have done, the protocol packet and was told to let them know when I was done. It took me 9 weeks from my consult till my surgery date.

FINALLY!!! Have date of Sept 17, 2002. Got call at work Friday asking me if I could do it on Sept 6. Was so shocked, I said no. Then I turned around and called back but they found a date I liked better. I know I cannot be totally prepared, but I'm ready. I have family and friends ready to give me support. My boss is going to drink SlimFast at lunch while I have my protein and she's already decided where we're going walking for the remainder of the hour. Now, tell me where I want to go to eat?????
