i really can't say a bad thing about dr. lautz. he was very kind, sweet and gentle. he was very straight forward though, no sugar coating any of it. he gave me the time i needed and answered the questions i had. the office staff was awesome, eileen is a trip. very outspoken. the office is very busy, i waited almost an hour to be seen, but was given the time i needed. i have sent emails and dropped in since then for various things and eileen is always willing to help, just dont' go or call on a clinic day. :)
I found Dr. Lautz to be reserved yet personable. He was direct and willing to answer any questions that I had. It was typical to have to wait past my appointment time to see him, sometimes by as much as two hours. But then again, I never felt rushed during my meetings with him as he took whatever time I needed to explain risks, technical aspects about the surgery and issues regarding aftercare.
He definitely has a quiet demeanor but consistently instilled confidence. The latter is a quality that I cared very much about as the surgery date was approaching and immediately thereafter.
I could not be more impressed or satisfied with Dr. Lautz as my surgeon.
First impressions are that David is great. Just what I need in a physican. Direct, to the point and a great ability to listen to what is being said before responding. Eileen, Admin., is fantastic. Again, due to time constraints, she is very focused in obtaining information quickly, without chatter. She has a wicked sense of humor....great to deal with. Knows the ins and outs of insurances and testing labs.
Professional thru & thru. His staff was very knowledgable and sensitve. he & his staff took their time speakign with me. Basically I went in there and interviewed them and they answered all of my questions and didn't rush me one bit. At the end I felt less anxious than when I entered. I also kind of ran into/overheard a previous client of his on a follow up and the gentleman reached out to me and let me know it was the best decision he made and Dr. Lautz was a winner. This was unsolicited and I was a little bit surprised that he spoke up like he did, upon thinking about it after I realized he most likely knew exactly how anxious and confused I was feeling.
2 weeks Post OP: I think he is avery good surgeon, he met with me about an hour before surgery and they the night of the surgery, and the next nite he popped in to check on me. The staff at the hospital had his respect and I know I do. I'd recommend him to any of my friends & family.
My first impression of Dr. Lautz was what a wonderful person he is. He care about what I had to say and answered all of my questions.
Dr. Lautz's office staff where kind, concideate, and very intentive to my questions and needs. They are very pleasant and I look forward to seeing them again.
I had mu surgery on July 15, 2003 and when I arrived in the surgery room I was nervous, but once I saw Dr. Lautz he made me feel better. He is a great person, makes me feel special and is very much into how I am doing, he cares about his patients. I highly recommend.
I met Dr. David Lautz of Brigham & Women's Hospital after 2 surgical cancellations with Dr. Malcolm Robinson.
Dr. Lautz is exactly what I was looking for in a surgeon. He is very warm & caring. He listened to me & spent about a 1/2 hour during our visit. I was impressed by his professionalism, compassion, among other things.
Dr. Lautz's secretary Eileen is a little firecracker & a great resource.
I'm looking forward to my surgery with Dr. Lautz & have the utmost confidence in his ablility.
Dr. Lautz is very quiet but very friendly. I first went in to see him and told him I wanted a Lap Band. I did not want the RNY. He sat me down and we discussed both procedures and I still was not sure which procedure I wanted. He gave me more information to take home with me and he told me to call him with a decision. I called a few weeks later and we scheduled all my preops. I am having the open RNY. He did an open RNY for my sister 2 years ago and she is doing great. I was in the waiting room with my brother-in-law when he came from her surgery. He answered all our questions and was very calming.
My original appointment was scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2003. I received a call on Tuesday, April 1st saying that Dr. Lautz was going to be out of town and I would have to reschedule. My first response was “You’ve got to be joking”. It was, April Fool’s Day after all and my birthday so I guess you could say I’m a little sensitive. It wasn’t a joke, so the appointment was rescheduled for May 2nd.
It was a 7:30am appointment. I found Eileen (Office Manager?) to initially be a little cold. However, the fact that my chart was screwed up and that Dr. Lautz was running late is what I put it off too.
We waited 45 minutes and Sara, his PA, brought me into an exam room. We talked about the surgery, my questions and then she listened to my heart, lungs, etc. I found her to be very nice, willing to listen, very informative and she seemed to have all the time in the world for me. I did not feel rushed.
Sara then went and got Dr. Lautz and the 3 of us met. He was very nice, straight forward in all his answers, and even though I knew he’d already had a crazy morning and the day probably wasn’t going to get any better, he was willing to sit and answer as many questions as I wanted. Both Dr. Lautz and Sara covered the potential risks of the surgery. They were very straight forward about all the potential problems.
I find their office extremely busy. After everything was straightened out with my chart I found Eileen to be much nicer. I still think she is a little curt but it seems to me that she has to keep everything moving along. She scheduled my surgery and my nutrition appointment but the appointment program was down for the EKG. Eileen said she would mail me the date as soon as it was fixed. I received the appointment the next day! She is on top of it.
I have not experienced any of the after care so I will update later.
