Before going into surgery I was told that there were 3 surgeons in the state of CT to do my surgery and Dr. Giles was the best. They were right! He is an excellent surgeon, good bedside manner and a nice guy. Though thin himself, he never made me feel ashamed for being in his office. He seemed to understand the difficulty of being a 400 lb woman and simply wanted to help. His pre-op patient education was extensive and I felt very at ease going into surgery.
There were some bumps along the way but he made sure I made it through and everything was done to tend to my issues.
To say Dr. Giles is nice is an understatement. He asks SO many questions, but listens intently to your answers. He writes everything down. He wants to know your feelings towards life after this surgery. He was very thourough and answered all my questions. I felt very comfortable with him. He invited me to the support group and described that as well.
He talked about the risks and the benefits. We talked about how they pertain to me. He has a sense of humor, which I need. He looks you in the eye. All in all, I feel very very calm and feel that I will be able to trust him.
My first impression of Dr. Giles was someone who was very concerned about the health and well being of the patient. Although he was fairly new to the procedure he seemed to continuously keep himself abreast of all involving this surgery. His office staff is kind and courteous. Some are better educated in this field than others but that may increase in time. Dr. Giles fully explains the risks and benefits of this surgery. He establishes an aftercare schedule with exercise options and doctor visits to ensure your continued success. I think the best attribute that Dr. Giles has is that he is willing to become a part of your life. He will hold your hand, rub your shoulder, and reassure you through this trying time. He is a very personable man and a very caring individual.

He has a great sense of humor. He was very concerned with my health and with working with my PCP. I would highly recommend Dr. Giles.
