I have to say I was very impressed with Dr. Giles. He took the time to listen to me. rnThe girls in his office are Great, I deal with Donna M. all the time (there are 2 Donna's in the office)rnI can't say there is anything I did not like about him or his staff. They are all great even the Nutritionist May is awesome and very very Thorough.rnThey are very strict with the classes beforehand but it is a blessing to know they want you to be fully prepared and believe me it helped!rnDr. Giles and his crew prepared me for every detail of pre and post op care and what to expect.rnOverall I would recommend Dr. Giles to anyone who is thinking of having the surgery. His bed side manner is just a plus among everything else!rnKUDOS Dr. G!rnrnOne neg thing was one of the nurses after the surgery who was pretty much assigned to me everyday. She was very grumpy and I hated seeing her.

My opinion of Dr. Giles changed after surgery. He went from being a nice doctor to being an exceptional surgeon.rnrnAfter surgery - he checked on me several times, joked around with me and just treated me as a person and not just a patient. Not many doctors will spend the time with you that he spent with me. He was conserned about my comfort level and my conserns. rnrnPrior to surgery - He discussed the risks of surgery and aftercare. His program is somewhat lengthy - however, it's thorough.rnrnDr.Giles is overall awesome in my opinion.rnIf I had to go through the surgery again - I would only go through it with Dr. Giles - no one else.

So far, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Giles. He has intently listened to everything I have had to say and I feel like I get the time I need from him. His staff at New Britain General Hospital, Laura, Charlotte and Susan have been fabulous too. I have nothing but high regard for him and his staff and I have eternal gratitude for all of them.

Dr Giles has to be one of the most compassionate doctor I've dealt with. I've talked to alot of people about him and have had nothing but glowing reports! His new staff at New Britain is fantastic. Very helpful and kind! I have to utmost confidence in Dr Giles and his staff to make sure that I have the smoothest journey possible.

The only thing that if I have to come up with something that was less than optimum was his move from UConn to New Britain. And to be fair, it was mostly UConn that was the problem. I signed a release for my records back in Oct and then again in Dec and they still didn't get all my records to him until about 1 week before they sent in my stuff to my insurance. That was about the end of April! Nuts, huh? It really held up my approval process. But, you know what? That is all done now and I'm on the the path to the losing side!!!!

Think of it this way, if I didn't have such confidence and wasn't so happy with Dr Giles, I wouldn't have stayed with him for the long process. I just love him!!

Dr. Giles is very patient centered- excellant bedside manner. I felt he was excellant as a surgeon and with follow up, but his materials needed updating. His office staff at UConn were terribly unorganized, and at times rude, but he has recently moved to New Britain General and the office staff may be much better there. I don't dislike anything about him, except his outdated materials. He is extremely compassionate and caring, and an excellant surgeon, although a friend of mine had her tummy tuck by him and he did not do a good job with that. Aftercare was REALLY emphasized- he schedules lots of follow up appointments, and he wants his patients to be attending the support group monthly. The risks of surgery were very well defined ahead of time. I find him to be an excellant gastric bypass surgeon- a 9 on a scale of 10.; The UConn beds were awful, truly awful, but that is also a non issue since he will be or is now at NBGH. He was excellant both at bedside manner and as a surgeon. All lhis patients really love him.

I have just switched to Dr Giles and can honestly say I think it was the very best decision for me. I have never meet a Dr willing to spend so much time with a patient. My first apponitment with him was 4 hrs long. He was extremely thorough. I was highly impressed.

He was nice, took his time with the appointment and informative. However at the time I wasn't sure if the surgery was for me and he didn't seem to guide me.

I realized after attending a nuber of support groups that he did that for a reason, I needed to come the that conclusion on my own.

His office staff was nice enough but slow to return calls.

He really cares about his patients and this type of surgery.

The aftercare program is very good. Appointments and support group meeting are very informative and he doesn't shy away from questions even at the meetings. Some docs won't answer a question unless its at an appointment.

He is careful to address all the risks including those that the doctors and patient can prevent by working together.

I would rate him as great. A very caring and knowledgeable doctor. Has a great bedisde manner as well as track record in this surgery. Not afraid to help a patient out (even helped me get back into bed at the hospital).

Dr Giles is a very confident and caring surgeon and put me completely at ease when I met him for my information session. I cannot say enough good things about him I was soooooo impressed with him. I was a little scared about taking this step and he put me completely at ease.

Dr Giles first impression is one of knowledge and caring.

my impression has not changed since the surgery, He was there for long day on the day of my surgery and checked in on me to see how I was doing and how I was feeling.

Dr Giles staff has been very helpful when I have any questions.

I like everything Dr Giles has done for me.

Anyone looking for a good Dr should check with Dr Giles because he is very good at doing the gastric bypass surgery.

The structurd care after surgery has been good, going to the support group meetings has been a great help for me.

I rate Dr Giles as the best Doctor in the area for gastric bypass surgery.

Surgical competence and bed side manner both are wanted and needed from a doctor and Dr Giles has both down very well.

He was very friendly and spent over 1 hour with me. The office staff was considerate and helpful to me. I was shown a vidio that lasted about 20 minutes. It explained his procedures and the risks associated with the surgery.

He stressed the need for aftercare, along with a journal of the foods that I eat to make sure that the proper amounts of protein are consumed each day.
