Dr. Nease is an awesome doctor I have spoken to many of his so call "loser" patients and they all give him thumbs up! He holds no punches and tells it like it is, that surgery is a tool to help you lose the weight. Dr Nease's office staff is awesome, Cynthia and Marla are great. They took care of everything when it came to my insurance and stuff. I was approved after the first letter being sent. My insurance is Blue Cross PPO. I have been overweight most of my life time, never been the barbie girl type. After I had kids the weight really crept on. I have always been pretty active in my life but the weight would come off but then it would come back with friends! I am looking forward to having the surgery 8/24/04, so I can be a looser like everyone else and start living instead of exisiting!
This process has taken me quite a while. I began my journey with Dr. Nease back in October 03. Because I have an HMO,, I was searching for a PCP that would refer to him. His office staff was more than supportive. They keep me informed every step of the way. I was close and then was referred to USC. I was impressed with the surgeon there, but the wait was just way too long. I once again contacted Dr. Nease's office and fortunately they were accepting an HMO. I was so happy! I got my referral and met with him about 2 weeks later. He was extremely personable and easy to talk to. It only took about 2 weeks and I had my approval for the surgery. His office has been so supportive in keeping me updated on the status of my referrals, setting up my pre-op labs, and just making me feel important. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Nease and I will say that so far, my experience with him has been exactly as I have been told. My surgery is August 10, 2004, so I am very excited!
Dr. Nease made me feel very comfortable from the first day that I walked into my office. He is very attentive to all your concerns both pre op & post op. I could not have found someone else that I felt more comfortable around. Also his office staff is awesome they make you feel like you are part of a family and I never hesitate to call them if I need something. It is like they are part of my surgery family that I will have for the rest of my life. Dr. Nease and his staff are willing to help you along your way to your weight loss goal and I feel that having this surgery is the best thing that I have ever done in my life because I am much more content in my life. He really has helped me change me life and I could not have asked for someone that is more comptetent in his field or caring in all aspects. I would recommend him to anyone that is thinking about having the surgery because of his kindness and all the information that he give to make sure that you feel like you know how your life is going to change.
Dr. Nease's group was the first to contact me. And, although I had called another group for info, they never sent it.
So, I went to Dr. Nease's seminar and was very impressed. He seems very personable, and his staff really care about the individual. I'm in the process of being scheduled right now!!
7/3/04 update
I had my surgery on June 29th. The preop classes were so helpful, I felt comfortable going into the surgery.
The Doctor and his staff were extremely competent, and I came home on July 2.
I Would recommend doctor Nease to anyone in the So. CAL area!!!
133 pounds...WOW!!! Dr. Nease promised me a better life after surgery, and he surely has. No more sleep apnia, no more high blood pressure, no more gout, my cholesterol is about 132, and my energy level is unbelievable. Throw in the fact that I am the size (almost) of a "normal person", and you must know that I am ecstatically happy. Dr. Nease, and his wonderful staff, have changed my life. The doctor's skill as a surgeon is remarkable. I honestly don't remember any unusual pain after surgery, and the after-care that I got over the next 4 months was excellent. I was on the go and enjoying my "lighter" self just 2 and a half weeks after after leaving the hospital. I believe that the most important aspect of my continuing good health directly revolves around our wonderful Support Group. I haven't missed one meeting, the group has become like family to me. We share ideas, we help each other with eating ideas, as well as learning about nutrition.
I immediately felt comfortable with Dr. Nease and his office staff. Cynthia was very helpful and informative when I called and spoke with her on the phone. Dr. Nease is very straight forward and lets you know exactly what the risks are of surgery. His office has a great follow-up program and give you plenty of material in order to help you along the way whether in exercise or in what you will be able to have. They are always there when you call and answer all of your questions. I would have to rate Dr. Nease a 10. He makes you feel comfortable and makes sure that you are well informed. I would recommend Dr. Nease to anyone that is thinking about having weight loss surgery. It isn't just Dr. Nease that makes the whole process seem a little easier, but it is his wonderful staff from Betty to Kim.
I really don't have anything negative to say. The Pre-op book could be updated, but that is it.
I was very skeptical of the whole process until I saw the way Dr. Nease and his staff had taken care of my wife a year earlier when she had surgery. I decided it was time to make a change and I did with the help of Dr. Nease and his staff I have a new outlook on life. Now I feel like I can do normal things in life again. I can do so much with my family now; ride bikes, take walks, play basketball without wearing out. Matter of fact, they have trouble keeping up with me. If I would have it to do over, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Thanks Dr. Nease and God bless you.
