My first impression was that Dr. Frantzides was very inviting and personable, and very positive. My impression has remained the same. The office staff is very helpful, friendly and are aware if your privacy. All patient should know that he is a great surgeon, carring, the best. Read all of the material that is given to you and rember that no two people are alike and attend support groups. All of the risk were were talked honestly. Dr. Frantzides gets an A+++
I liked him, he made me feel very comfortable. My impression has not changed except that I now like him even more he's great! His staff is helpful and friendly.Patients should know that they will be well taken care of and you will feel great about yourself. Ther are 4 support groups every month, all patients should attend. All of the risk of surgery were outlined and I felt I was well informed about the surgery and I felt very safe. On a scale from 1-10 he's a 10!! Thank you Dr. Frantzides.
My first impression was that very positive --that I had found a very qualified surgeon. My impression over time only improved. I know now I have an expert in the field of bariatic surgery and care for his patients. His staff that surrounds him are friendly, positive and supportive. They are extremely well informed about the changes that I am undergoing as a patient. Patients considering Dr. Fantzides should know he's passion for what he is doing in helping obese people find a route to a healthy life. They should know about his expertise in the surgery. They should know that the minimally invasive laproscoptic alternative is truly the only way to go as it provides for the short hospital stay and the quickest return home so that you can start your first steps to your new life.
Dr. Frantzides has a structured aftercare program to teach you how to live post-surgery . He is an excellent doctor that combines the best of surgical competence with a pleasant bedside manner. I don't think I can capture how grateful I am to have him as my doctor.
My first impression of Dr. Frantzides was he ahd a sense of humor. It definitely put you at ease. He is a very knowledgable and caring surgeon, but also very confident (or in other words he does have a slight ego-LOL). Everyone told me that the office always runs late and to bring something to do. However, everytime I have been at an appt. he has been running right on time. No problems at all. Dr, zeni his fellow was also very nice and approachable. Karen and Jerry are extremely caring and always will find you an answer if you need it.
He has great bedside manner, always trying to make you smile (even when you are looped out on drugs and in pain), but still he tries. Yes he has an ego, but he is extremely good at what he does...
I first met Dr. Frantzides at a minimally invasive bariatric surgery seminar. I liked him immediately as he struck me as highly competent, knowledgeable and experienced. I also liked that he was very warm and charming. I was instantly comfortable with him. My impressiom of him has only grown stronger over time in that I have learned that my first impressions were right on target. Another huge plus is that Dr. Frantzides office staff and his fellow are outstanding. They are kind, helpful, responsive and just plain nice people. That in and of itself has made this experience a very pleasant one. We discussed aftercare at length an his office has phenomenal educational materials. We also discussed the risks of the surgery in detail and I felt that I made an informed decision. All in and all I could not be more satisfied with Dr. Frantzides and his staff and I have come through this surgery extremley well!
My first impresssion of Dr Frantzides was, this is a very nice, caring, and understanding guy. I feel the same about him now and he feels like a brother to me. The staff was very professional, just as he was. Future patients should know that Dr Frantzides is the "best" at what he does; no if, ands, or buts, about it. He puts great emphasis on aftercare so that your recovery is life long management. His aftercare program is very structured. You are given material via mail prior to your first appointment so that you are not in the dark, and he has a wonderful Nurse working with him who is very knowledgeable; Karen Thomas. He emphasis' the risks of surgery and lays it out in an understanding format. He went over every potential complication separatly and addresses all your questions. Overall, Dr Frantzides gets an A++ rating in my book. He has a wonderful bedside manner and appearance is always appealing, he always greet you with a sincere smile. Thank you Dr Frantzides and Karen, you guys are the bomb!
My WLS with Dr. Constantine Frantzides on 5/23/2005 at Evanston Hospital, Evanston,Illinois was truly a miracle! He was able to perform a Lap RNY, and also repair my hiatal hernia even though I had severe scar tissue and adhesions from a previos abdominal surgery. I had had an open abdominal colectomy in 2001 for an atonic colon and diverticulits. I didn't know that I had adhesions and I am ever so grateful to Dr. Frantzides for performing my surgery laproscopically, as the recovery has been much easier than with open abdominal surgery! He was able to remove all the scar tissue and adhesions with the lap. My stay in the hospital was only 2 nights and I lost 13 pounds in the first 2 weeks! I would like to thank Dr. Frantzides and his staff for all they have done for me--truly a miracle!
I became acquainted with Dr. Frantzides through simple internet research of bariatric surgeons who perform the gastric bypass surgery laparoscopically in my area. His credentials were outstanding. He is very experienced in the "Roux-en-Y" procedure having operated on over 1000 patients. The recommendations and testimonials from patients were numerous. My husband is a physician and he researched Dr. Frantzides' credentials from a more analytical and medical standpoint and was very impressed. After careful study, my decision was made at that time to schedule a consultation. I continue to be very impressed with his confident and caring manner, his outstanding office staff and colleagues as well as his knowledge and skill with regard to weight loss surgery. I feel that I am in very good hands. There was absolutely nothing that left me feeling anxious or uncomfortable. Karen, his nurse, has had WLS and is not only available for questions but an expert in the field as well. Dr. Frantzides' office is very busy, yet I never felt rushed in anyway. Everyone took as much time with me as I needed, allowed me to ask all of my questions and explained everything from pre-op to surgery to post-op concerns including group support, in great detail. I can honestly say that I have never felt so comfortable in a doctor's office in my entire life. Usually I agonize over what they're going to say about my weight and then my blood pressure goes up. Dr. Frantzides and his staff were very kind and understanding. I really appreciated that. I believe the success of the surgery truly depends on the patient's attitude, his/her willing to follow the detailed post-op aftercare and lifestyle changes, as well as actively participate in the support groups. Surgery alone is not the answer, but rather surgery accompanied by the behavioral changes that follow. It's a very personal decision to have WLS that must be made after much research and study as well as soul-searching and, in my case, prayer. Everyone has their own reason - mine being my health. My parents are obese and in their early 70's. I have 3 younger brothers and 2 are obese. My dad had triple by-pass surgery at 65, has high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. My mom has very limited mobility due to her weight and the resulting arthritis and diabetes. My aunt had "stomach stapling" in the mid-70's and has gained all the weight back. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Frantzides and he explained the procedure used in the 70's and why its long-term success rate was so low. My family health history is very poor, and my prognosis appears to be much the same if I continue as I am. I have tried and been moderately successful at many "diets". The weight always returned plus a few more pounds. I have decided that WLS is the answer for me. As I researched the subject, I wrote down my questions. Most were answered by either Dr. Frantzides or Karen during the initial consultation, before I even had a chance to ask. I would rate Dr. Frantzides as a 10+. I'm very grateful to have found him and his surgical competence as well as bedside manner convinced me that I have made the right decision.
Update: It's hard to believe that it's been 7 months since my surgery. I feel so good - absolutely no pain or difficulties - and I feel so energetic. I have lost 81 lbs so far and I walk 2 miles, 5 days a week. I also work out with weights 3 times per week. I've never plateaued or had a weight gain - some weeks may be just a .5 - 1.0 lb loss while others are 2-3lbs. I'm very happy with that. I feel absolutely wonderful - and the best part is that I basically eat normally (no sweets, junk food or bread) but just can't eat as much as I used to eat. I record everything I eat on fitday.com and try to eat healthy foods. I have had absolutely no complications. I don't experience dumping - but I haven't had anything with more that 16 grams of sugar - and don't ever intend to have any. I'm so glad that I had the surgery. My blood pressure is within the normal range with no meds - which, in itself, made the surgery well worth it. I'm almost to my goal. I know that my success is due to the fact that I had the surgery by an expert surgeon who is a master in the field of bariatric surgery. I follow Dr. Frantzides' instructions TO THE LETTER. I totally trust and follow his recommendations and instructions. I always take all my vitamins - eat my protein - drink my water, took my Actigal faithfully following surgery and regularly schedule my follow-up appointments. I know that if I have any questions I can call the office and get an immediate answer. The staff is wonderful - very supportive and most helpful. I feel very welcome when I arrive for an appointment and ALWAYS leave feeling "on top of the world". I'm so grateful for everything and thank Dr. Frantzides for his skill in giving me this wonderful gift!
