I was originally set to have my surgery performed by Dr. Rovito through Lehigh Valley Hospital but I received a letter from my insurance company stating that Lehigh Valley Hospital was no longer on the approved provider list. I was very upset because I went through the whole process of classes and pre surgery preparation and now I had to switch surgeons.
I went on my insurance website and found Dr. Holland was approved through Sacred Heart Hospital. I made an appointment to meet with him and see if they would accept the Lehigh Valley pre surgery program I went through. I was very impressed with Dr. Hollands staff and I was thrilled after meeting with Dr. Holland because he was a very honest, sincere, and caring person. My wife accompanied me on my appointment and we were both very impressed and comfortable with Dr. Holland and his staff.
It turned out to be a blessing that my insurance company steered me to Dr. Holland because I could not have had a better experience. Dr. Holland explained everything and he and his staff made a stressful experience almost stress free. The day of surgery he met with me and we discussed the upcoming procedure and he made me feel at ease and confident that everything would go well.
The surgery went without a hitch and Dr. Holland encouraged me to start walking which led me to join a gym and start working out. My surgery was in August 2013, I walked daily from August 2013 to December 2013. I joined a gym December 2013 and have been a regular ever since.
I cannot thank Dr. Holland enough. He is a great surgeon and a great man who is kind, professional, and sincere. I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of having WLS.
Let me start out by saying I am an RN and have worked with many physicians and I can without hesitation say that Dr Holland is one of the best...professional, caring, and truly a wonderful surgeon. Talented in his craft. His office staff is great they have a wonderful program at sacred heart including aftercare. I had a lap band revision to RNY. Everything went great I had no complications and feel wonderful.
I can not say enough about the treatment I received from Dr. Holland and his staff. St Luke's was super, they attended to my every need and went above and beyond. If anyone is considering weight loss surgery you can not go wrong if you choose St Luke's bariatrics.
The care, attention endless support I received before, during and after my surgery was/is great. They educated me completely before my surgery and still educate me in all of my post needs. They have a web forum and support group that is extremely helpful. If you want the best team available you must consider St Luke's. I know they say No person can be the “best” in all aspects. Completely 100% positive reviews are generally less informative or even suspect, but I honestly have to say I do not have a negative thing to say. See for yourself you will not regret it. Good Luck. All I can say is WOW! Everyone at St. Luke's in Allentown, PA is fantastic. From the receptionist, to Sweet Maureen the insurance fairy, to Maureen the director of the Bariatric Center, to Terri the RN on the floor, to Dr. Holland--I can not say enough about each and everyone of these people.
From the first information seminar that I went to, I knew that I chose the right place for me. No none ever made you feel unwelcome.
They have a wonderful program with great information material. The best is the St. Luke's online forum where currently 300 members with pre and post surgical history answer questions, provide feedback, and give positive reinforcement.
I am truly confident in everyone at St. Luke's and will continue to go to their monthly support groups as that is the key to my weight loss success.

I did my research between my options within the Lehigh Valley and determined Dr Holland Jr was the correct choice for my surgery. The support you get from his team is so outstanding that made my six month process easy and effortless. My overall impression of him during his informational seminar was geninue and sincere, which was something you need when going through such a life changing event. Dr Holland provided all the statistics you need to make an informed decision as well as all the requirements to achieve your goals. All the questions you might have will be answered in terms and words easily understood. My surgery was just recently and every step of the process was explained to me in detail as to avoid uncertainity and fear. I am having great results and no setbacks. I would reccommend his group wholeheartedly.

Dr. Clarence Holland, Jr. performed my RNY gastric bypass surgery on June 30, 2009. I found excellent compassionate care with Dr. Holland and his professional, personable, skilled and caring Bariatric Staff at St. Luke Hospital.
Dr. Holland first appears as a soft-spoken, humble surgeon who really cares about his patients. He is knowledgable and skilled with a superior successful track record of RNY surgeries. His excellence is reflected by high volume attendance at Support Group meetings by hundreds or maybe even thousands of satisfied patients of successful RNY surgeries.
In fact, yesterday (2-17-2010) St. Luke Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Clarence Holland and his Bariatric Director Maureen Miletics received recognition for their facility as a Center of Excellence in 2010. What an honor!
If you are considering RNY surgery, contact Dr. Holland. YOU WILL GET YOUR LIFE BACK. Dr. Holland has a God-given talent to help individuals conquer the disease of obesity through the RNY surgery---which is a tool. Post surgery, daily work includes adhering to the pouch rules, exercising and taking supplemental vitamins for the rest of your life. YOUR NEW LIFE IS WORTH IT. CHOOSE TO LOSE THE WEIGHT AND GAIN BACK YOUR LIFE.
Dr. Holland knows his stuff. He followed in his father's footsteps and worked with him for many years. His father died a few months before my surgery. Once you get to know him, Dr. Holland is a nice guy. He comes across as being aloof at first, but I chose him for his experience and not for his bedside manner. I first checked to see how many gastric bypass surgeries he had done, and was pleased to know that he had many under his belt. A support group for gastric bypass patients (or people contemplating having the surgery) is in place. Dr. Holland does emphasize after care and sees his patients a long time before finally discharging them. He went over all of the risks of surgery, and even asked me during our initial meeting why I wanted to have the surgery. He wanted to make sure I was doing it for the right reasons. Overall, I liked him as a doctor and a person. As I said, once I got to know him, I found a friendlier individual. I don't think he is aloof; I think he is either shy or just more into what he has to do rather than bedside manner. I'm not saying that's the right way to be but, knowing what I know now, I would recommend him (and have to many) to anyone thinking about having this surgery.

Dr. Holland and staff are the absolute best!rnHe took time to answer questions, comes to the support group meetings each month, and I am happy with my surgery because I didn't have much pain. As for his staff, Terri is one of the nurses. She has had this surgery so it is great to ask her questions. She was there the day of surgery with me up until i was put under, and there the day of surgery visiting me in my room. She is my favorite staff member.
