I was very impressed by Dr Mitchell's compassion for overweight people. He really cares for us and does not look at us as dollar signs or freaks. He continues to want to give his patients the utmost care. He wants to take care of them for a lifetime. He is an awesome doc. His staff is also a very compassionate staff. They are very quick to respond to questions and complications. You never feel like you are not welcome to ask questions. After surgery I had some minor complications and if I called it was just a short time before a PA or Dr Mitchell would respond. They made you feel like they had all the time in the world. His nurse and secretary even responds to questions through email. They are always just a click or a call away. I can not think of anything I do not really like about Dr mitchell except he is sometimes overly cautious, which I guess is too my advantage. Now he can be tough if you don't do as he says. Not in a rough way but in a way that lets you know he does not play around, almost like a father figure. You find yourself not wanting to let him down. Dr Mitchel has a great aftercare program. You have a big red book that tells you everything about your surgery from pre op to post op. The big red bible we call it. Trust me you will consult it many times. It tells you how you should feel, what to eat and how to make your surgery easier on you. Dr Mitchel's office has a online support group and a monthly support group. The programs are wonderfully planned and even hae a clothing exchange to save you money on that ever changing size. Dr Mitchell has a wonderful lady who volunteers her time and visits every patient after surgery. You feel so much support. dr Mitchel was very upfront about the risk of havng this surgery. In your big red bible it least the most common complications and how they treat it. It really helps when one of those complications comes up and you can calm yourself and say OK this is not bad. I can do this. Dr Mitchell is one of the best docs I have ever met. He should get the top rating as far as I am concerned. He is very positive and he has excellent skills and a wonderful bedside manner. He puts you at ease. I would reccomend him to anyone.
Dr. Mitchell is the best. He is down to earth. He has a wonderful sense of humor. He is very honest and will tell you up front of possible problems. He takes the time for any question and also takes the time to talk with any family members who are concerned about the surgery.
I feel he goes beyond the basics in order for his patient to have a successful surgery. He performs his own EGD prior to surgery in order to know what he will be dealing with. During surgery he sutures over the staples because he says he wants to be able to sleep at night.
Dr. Mitchell has an excellent team of people for his staff. Chris Rowe is an angel. Debbie, his nurse who has had the surgery, is the best.
When I first met Dr. Mitchell at my information seminar I thought he was a good person. After my inital office visit with him and having to interact with his office staff, I knew he was a true godsend. His staff is eqipped with well informed, and sensitive personnell. If you follow all of Dr. Mitchell's instructions to the letter, you can't help but be successful. I would definitely recommend Dr. Mitchell to anyone who is considering wls.
My first impression of Dr. Mitchell was ever so accurate.... he is one of the most caring and compassionate men I have ever met. As a nurse, he and I really hit it off.. I asked all the tough nursey type questions, and he answered each without batting an eye. I think he is quite intelligent, and is a leader in this type of surgery. His office staff is wonderful.. from the PA's, to the nurses.. to the front desk help. I feel that I am in the hands of a very competent and caring surgeon/person. What I like best is the fact that he does not sugarcoat things..he is as honest as the day is long. All in all, Dr. Mitchell is most excellent, and as I am post op.. I know that I made the right choice!!! *I'll slide the bill for that in the mail, Dr. M!!* Just Kidding!!
My first impression of Dr.Mitchell was,"wow he looks young!?" And good looking! The more that I got to talk with him and meet with him,I knew that this was the doctor for me. He is just not like any other Doctor that I have ever been to before. He actually cares about ME,the patient. He is very thorough in his care. And the fact that he does have a aftercare program is wonderful too. That means that after surgery he just doesn't say ok I'm done with that one, next! He is there all the way with you. I remember what he said when I went to that initial information class,"once you have the surgery you are married to me" and it's true..you have to keep going back to see him,for the rest of your life!
Dr. Mitchell to me is more then any words that I can express right now. He gave me a life back, that I never knew was there. I feel GREAT,and that is what is most important.Losing all the weight helps too! LOL but it's the feeling good part that just is the best!
Dr.Mitchell has gone the extra mile for me and my husband who has also had the surgery. And I just don't know how to ever repay him. But I do say Thank you, everytime I see him,and for now, that says it all.
DR.Mitchell was so kind and he will listen to what you have to say.My impression of the doc hasnt changed, he is so sweet and loving.I hpoe MRS.Mitchell know she has a loving husband with his fine self. His staff was very helpfull especially Donna.Ilove every thing about the doc.He is the best.He has a very good program going on,he will let you know every thing about the surgey. The doc is the greatist man you will ever meet.He is the best all the way around..
I have not officially met him one on one, I attented the mandatory seminar on January 16, 2003. He seemed funny, hes very good looking!!!!!! He is a stickler on follow up and seems to be very upfront about everything. I will post again after I have actually met him. My primary care doctor had to make my first appointment with him for me since I am on medicaid.
I met Dr. Mitchell today 3/11/03 and he is so charming. He is funny and seems to be such a good person. He seems to care about his patients and is patient for any questions you have or concerns. He is very cute too!!!!!!! I believe I have made an excellent choice. The minute you walk in his office, his staff is so nice and everybody is friendly. Everyone is proficient and you can see the high moral between them all. GREAT PLACE!!!!!
I knew that I would like Dr. Mitchell and his staff, even before I met him. You have to attend one of his free seminars before you can even schedule your appointment for your consultation. I think this is an excellent idea. It saves time and money for both the doctor as well as the patient. The seminar was extremely informative to those many people who seemingly hadn't done a bit of research. (That was very suprising!) After the seminar, Dr. Mitchell stayed for an hour just talking to me. He is extremely passionate about what he does, which is refreshing to see. Although he does seem to "know it all", he doesn't act like one of those annoying "know it all" doctors.
I also admire is aftercare program. It is very conservative, which doesn't bother me at all. His "meal plan" tells you exactly what time and what you should be eating or drinking beginning immediately after surgery. He also provides meal plans for up to 13 weeks post op. I have been to my consult as well, where I met his staff. They are very nice people and seem pretty organized!
Overall, I like his straight forewardness and honesty. Oh, and mixed in with that...he's quite warm hearted.
I initially met Dr. Mitchell at one of his weight loss seminars in November 2002. He was very personable and informative and seemed knowledgeable and straight-forward. I was impressed and scheduled an appointment with him for a first consultation.
01-07-03 - I had my first consultation with Dr. Mitchell today. It was a long wait, but everyone was very friendly and professional. Dr. Mitchell had answered most of my questions during his seminar so I didn't have a whole lot left to talk to him about. He explained that I would be seeing a nutritionist and a psychologist and having my thyroid tested and he dictated a letter to my PCP while I was in the room. He strikes me as a very confident and caring surgeon and I believe I made an excellent choice.
1. Excellent rapore...extremely knowledgeable. Kind and considerate to my concerns and needs.
2. It has not changed.
3. The nurse was great and the secretray lacks some personality to be desired but she seems totally overwhelmed most of the time. I can tell she is very educated though.
