I HAVE THE BEST DR. HE IS VERY DOWN TO EARTH AND HE TELLS YOU THE WAY THINGS ARE. HE MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE SOMEONE AND NOT JUST A DOLLAR COMING THROUGH THE DOOR. HIS OFFICE AND STAFF ARE GREAT ALSO. HE IS VERY ADAMENT ABOUT AFTER CARE AND HE TELLS YOU IN THE BEGINING THAT THIS IS A LIFE COMITMENT AND IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO COME TO AFTER CARE THEN DON'T EVEN HAVE IT DONE.

I was very impressed with Dr. Mitchell at the seminar he conducted in Raleigh. That is when I began my journey for WLS. He was very kind and answered all my questions i had. I felt at ease with him and wanted to further investigate this procedure with him. I am now 2 days from my surgery and nervous! I know I will be OK with GOD guiding Dr. Mitchell as he does my surgery.

I was very impressed. He is very dedicated, extremely caring, and very qualified. His office staff ia super. He rates #1 by all his patients. Aftercare is very important to him. He is very informative about all aspects of bypass surgery. I would not be using him if I did not think he was the best!

Dr. Mitchell greeted me with a smile and a firm and confident hand shake. He was interested in me as a person and not just as a patient. My impression has not changed of Dr. Mitchell. He praises my accomplishments and invites all patients to support group meetings. I receive invitations to meetings and events that are very beneficial. Dr. Mitchell's office staff is as equally supportive as he is. His nurse and secretary are both patients of his and are always there to help!! Future patients should know that Dr. M takes this procedure seriously and expects his patients to also. He understands weaknesses pre-op and post-op, but requires a certain amount of determination. Aftercare is a must. He folowas his patients for the rest of their life. Dr. M provides excellent post-op dietary and exercise info and resources. Risks of surgery were addressed in an info packet, at pre-op visit and at info session!
Overall I rate Dr. Mitchell as the VERY BEST!! Surgical confidence and bedside manner are equally important.

Dr. Mitchell is a wonderful doctor! He is honest and up front about the surgery, unlike many other surgeons that bill it as a "miracle" or "magic surgery".

His aftercare program is very thorough and his staff is very helpful.

Dr. Mitchell is one of the best surgeons in the United States...probably in the top ten as far as success rate and overall program quality. Some doctors just do the surgery with no pre-testing or post-op follow-up. Dr. Mitchell carefully screens the candidates, and his after care is first rate. He considers you part of his family once you have the surgery, and is there for his patients forever (or as long as he is in practice). There is a monthly support group meeting, and post-op patients are always welcome to re-visit any pre-op instructional class at any point in time for a "refresher class".
I had 100% confidence in Dr. Mitchell, especially after seeing how successful my sister has been. She (and I) think that he's better than sliced bread (no pun intended), and would not hesitate to do it over again.
His staff, although overworked, is very knowledgeable and friendly, with both his bariatric coordinator (nurse) and secretary being patients of his as well.
North Carolina, especially such a small area as Pinehurst is lucky to have such a skilled and compassionate doctor in Dr. Mitchell.

The ONLY thing that I could say that could be considered negative in any way about Mitchell (which really isn't a negative, given his dedication to his patients, and the amount of workload that he has) is that it can sometimes be difficult to get complete answers from his staff. This is mosty due to the fact that he is sometimes understaffed, and in cramped office space. Hopefully this will be aleviated in the future.

Overall, I would rate Dr. Mitchell and his bariatric program as GRADE A+!

He is a very kind, knowledgeable doctor, and always pass on any new information that can help us to us. One lady called me the other day to ask my some questions and she said that Dr. Mitchell explained things at his information meeting that she had wanted to talk to her husband about, and did not know how.
Dr. Mitchell has been my WLS doctor for almost 6 years, and I love him more all the time. He is never to busy to work with me, and answer question that I have. He has great follow up.
WE have a wonderful staff. Always helpful and kind.
I can not think of anything that I don't like about Dr. Mitchell
That he is a doctor who's patients are important to him, and he constantly learns more about this surgery
He tells us that we are married to him, or someone like him for life. He is a firm believer in life time follow up.
Yes, we have regular scheduled visit with him, plus we have classes, and of course our monthly support group.
He tells at his information meetings the risk that are involed, and he is always there for us.
I think he is the BEST in our part of North Carolina. I have come in contact with many people who had surgery with less qualified doctors, who have had to have revision, because it was not done right, or they did not have proper follow up.
Both are great.!!!

Dr Mitchell is a very detailed surgeon. I was impressed by him since meeting him in the information seminar last year. I have been very please with him and his staff. I would recommend him to anyone. He is very concerned about you as a person and takes his time with you and your family with any questions or concerns you may have. I am still pre-op but his aftercare program is very detailed.

Dr. Mitchell is a wonderful, caring doctor! He takes the time to answer all your questions and will be very honest with you. You may not always like what he is going to tell you, but he always looks out for your best interest.

He has a very good screening process to make sure that you are a good "fit" for the surgery and offers support groups and an online group so that you can share issues, experiences, etc. with others that have had the surgery.

I have recommended several people to Dr. Mitchell and I would not hesitate to go through this surgery again. I had never had major surgery and I thought that I would be extremely scared the morning of the surgery. When they wheeled me into the operating room, I was not the least bit scared and actually felt at peace, and I know a large part of that was because I knew that I was in the wonderful hands of such a talented and caring surgeon!

I cant't thank God enough for giving Dr. Mitchell these wonderful skills and also for giving him a great office staff, especially Debbie Bost, who has also had the surgery. She is really the best!
