Christopher Kinter Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

concerned, acknowledgeable but busy. After learning how busy he was, i understand he cut back and now has a partner. the staff was very helpful in making arrangements and answer questions. I feel very comfortable and will answer all questions and also has monthly orientations. All patients are invited to call office with any questions between office visits for followup. They also have group followup thru the community hospital. He seems ginuely concerned about your health and rate him very high.
both surgical & bedside manners are great. Nurses in hospital rate him very high. Ifeel tho he is still involved with other duties such as teaching, etc.but this is just my opinion. All doctors are quite busy. My main concern was the hospital due to nurse shortages. My first two days experience in hospital were not up to par i felt but I intend to advise the hospital of my concerns. This has nothing to do with Dr. Kinter. He stayed in close contact with cardiology staff at hospital and my own personal cardiologist. The usual opertion removal of gall bladder but he felt with all the other concerns he had for me did not remove as it looked very healthy. I take medication as not to give any problems.

My first impressions of Dr. Kinter was a good one. I only met with one time prior to my surgery. He had answers to all my questions and was very discriptive in his answers. He was very through in his answers and he used words that we could understand. During my stay in the hospital he was my saving grace, he made sure things where done the way the should've been done. After my surgery his staff was always very nice and they where always able to answer any questions I threw their way. My only problem with Dr. Kinter, he really doesn't offer an aftercare support system. I feel that is very important, you need peers that have experienced the same as you and you also need to know that others may be experiencing other things than you. I have not seen Dr since Nov of 1999, and do not have another appt with him until Nov 22, 2000. I guess if I had had problems maybe I would see more of him, but thank the good lord I didn't.

He seemed to me, the first impression was he was very nice, has a great sence of humor, and really seemed to care about ME. I was about to give up on him because Tricare was giving me a hard time with the appeal letter. I thought it was because he couldn't write a letter. I know now that he can and I trust that.

My surgeon was Christopher Kinter, M.D. I first was introduced to Dr. Kinter at a free WLS seminar that he and a colleague were hosting at a local medical center. I was impressed by his frankness and his answers to the questions that were being asked. My impression of him didn't really change about Dr. Kinter. He was always willing to spend time with me or my family members and he answered all my questions completely. I've heard good and bad things about him. The good stuff has all come from fellow patients (that I know) and the bad has come from hospital staff (that I know or have worked with him). I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with him. I didn't have a particularly hard time with this surgery and my recovery was actually quick, so our first 2 follow-up visits have been brief but complete. The office staff is friendly but not overly warm. They do greet you and answer your questions but they ARE very busy. What did I like least about him? Hmmm...I don't think I really have an answer to that. Maybe if he smiled more. That's not to say that he isn't a very kind individual. I think I'm just a smiler, that's all. I like people to smile. Overall, my experience has been positive. Future patients should know that he is more than willing to spend as much time with you talking about the procedures he does and he makes you feel comfortable if you have any concerns. He does make sure you understand how to take care of yourself during recovery and to definitely ask questions if you have any concerns about ANY aspect of your surgery experience. I wouldn't call the aftercare program structured. It is specifically scheduled but other than that it is left open to the patient to bring concerns to the surgeon. Yes, Dr. Kinter did address the risks of surgery. As in any invasive surgery under anesthesia there are risks and they were all completely addressed during the seminar and also in the information packet that was passed out and during the pre-op visit(s). Overall, I would rate Dr. Kinter very competent. I trusted him and felt completely at ease. I have been around physicians that didn't make me feel comfortable or confident about their skills or practices. I would have to say that both surgical competence and bedside manner are both very important when dealing with something so life-changing as WLS. I'm sure there are surgeons out there who may be more cheery or jovial, but I would take surgical competence over a bubbly personality any day. As long as I'm doing well and I'm healing correctly, then I am happy. There are bound to be personality differences between people sometimes but you have to look at the overall picture. You have go with what feels right for you. Just because I like this surgeon doesn't mean the next person will. It's all relative, really.
