When I was a little nervous when I first met Dr Ren, but my primary care physican highly recommended her. She was very nice once we sat down in our private consult. I also think it helped that I brought a friend who knew about the surgery.
Office staff-50/50. I will give definite kudos to the nurse and her billing coordinator Veronica. I think the people who answer the phones are a little kurt.
After meeting with a couple of doctors in NY and LA, I am starting to see a lot of the doctors have monthly group therapy sessions, but really do anything in regards to group exercise options. I like the fact the office wants you to see the nutrionist every time you see the doctor for a check-up.
Dr. Ren has been absolutely wonderful so far. She is very knowledgable in the world of weight loss surgery. Yet at the same time, she is soooo down to earth. You don't feel as though you are talking to a doctor. She is more than happy to answer any questions I have had. Even after my surgery she was on her way home when she saw me out of the corner of her eye. She immediately turned around to come and say hello and to see how I was doing. She is very caring. I could not say enough good things about her and her staff. I would recommend her to anyone interested in wls.
I FIND DR REN VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD AND TO THE POINT. SHE COVERS ALL BASIS FOR THE PRO'S AND CON'S OF THE LAP-BAND. SHE WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO SPEND TIME ON THE PHONE TALKING WITH MY BROTHER-IN-LAW(A PHYSICAN)AND ANSWER HIS CONCERNS REGARDING THE LAP-BAND.
SHE WAS VERY OPEN ABOUT INFORMED CONSENT REGARDING THE SURGERY AND HAD ME SIGN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THAT DISCUSSION.
SHE MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT AFTERCARE WOULD BE LIFETIME.
I AM APPRECIATIVE OF DR REN'S BEDSIDE MANNER AND ABILITY TO IMPART HER KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND CONFIDENCE TO ME.
I DID NOT FIND HER OFFICE STAFF THAT RECEPTIVE BOTH PRFESSIONAL AND NON- PROFESSIONAL STAFF. I FEEL THAT OVER TIME AS WE GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER HOPEFULLY THIS WILL CHANGE BECAUSE I WANT DR REN FOR MY PHYSICAN.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR REN.
Dr. Ren was very nice she is a very dedicated surgeon, very straight forward, honest with the expectations we have of surgery. Although she can be scary because she tells you like it is I feel very comfortable with my choice to use Dr. Ren.
I would recommend her to anyone seeking weight lose surgery, she does lap-band,rny, bds/ds,etc. The office staff was very helpful, most of her staff has had lapband procedures done themselves, so they really understand what we are going through. She is really big on aftercare though. Her aftercare program is very structured you have to see her several times first year, and then once or twice every year there after. They have support groups, and you must see the nutrionist also.
Dr. Ren wa highly recommended to me by several people who had the surgery performed by her. I also consulted with another surgeon before going back to her. My first consultation was a pleasure - her office was very busy, yet I felt completely taken care of and she spent a great deal of time with me reviewing the Bypass procedure and answering all my questions. I never feel rushed when speaking with her or her staff.
Dr. Ren's office staff operates with the utmost of caring and individuality - they bever make me feel like I am interrupting them or that my questions a re trivial - I feel like they know who I am when I call.
Dr. Ren is adamant about aftercare. I will see her at 3 weeks after surgery for my first post-op visit.
The risks of the surgery were explained in great detail by Dr. Ren - although I had read a great deal about the risks she made sure I understood everything completely.
Dr. Ren has that unique combination of bedside manner and superior technical skills. My father wa a surgeon and I know it is not always easy to find both in one physician. She is superb!
I met Dr. Ren over a year ago. We work in the same hospital (NYU Medical Center). Initially, I wanted to have the Gastric Banding - and so I was banded in January 2003. Unfortunately, I was one of the few people for whom the band is really not a good option. I had horrible pain with it, and vomiting. So Dr. Ren and I talked about removing the band and changing to the BPD. After a lot of thought - the BPD is such a major surgery - I decided to go ahead with it. I had surgery on Thursday, Oct 30. So it's been almost a week now, and I'm very uncomfortable, but not really in pain. The surgery, including band removal, went very smoothly and now I just have to wait and see if the BPD will be the right thing for me.
Dr, Ren, her office staff, Dr. Huberman and everyone else at NYU has been very competent and friendly. I have no complaints.
