My first impression of Dr. Needleman was that he looked awfully young. That didn't change but his demeanor was honest and caring right off. He took his time and explained everything to myself and my husbands satisfaction. I trusted him almost immediatly.
His secretary was also warm and friendly and very reassuring.
His future patients should know that he takes good care of his patients physically as well as mentally.
I left the hospital fully informed of how to care for myself, with much printed material to cover any and every possibility. I was also encouraged to call if there was any questions about the surgery or aftercare or just any concerns.
EXCELLENT.....Dr. B. Needleman is the absolute best. His surgical competence, his beside manner are just wonderful, not something you usually find in a surgeon.
I haven't met Dr. Needleman yet, but thought I should let everyone know that they have stopped scheduling appointments more than a month in advance. Once your file is finally turned over to the doctor, you are placed in a holding pattern until your turn to be scheduled. At that point your appointment will probably be a month away. Once you finally have that appointment, they will schedule your surgery date. I don't know yet how long they make you wait between the first appointment and the surgery, but be aware that just because you have been turned over to the doctor does not mean that you are close to surgery. Be prepared for more waiting....
My surgeon will be Dr. Bradley Needleman. When I met this doctor I was so relieved. He treated me with respect instead of derision that I have met most of my life with doctors. He went over my file with me answering any question that I had. He sat down and took the time to listen to me. He explained the surgury in great detail, even drawing diagrams to show me. He is a very kind and considerate man.
When I first saw him, I felt my fears slip away. He has a very comforting yet professional demeanor. He has a sense of humor also, which helped me a great deal. He is very straight forward and will tell you that if you do not follow the instructions then you will not have the results you desire.
Dr. Needleman explains the risks of surgury. He explains the downside of the surgury, but at the same time gives you hope for a new beginning.
I am sure I will have more to tell you once my surgury date is over. So please stay tuned for more info at a later date.
I will also say that his staff is excellent. They are helpful and friendly. You will get the feeling that you are in very good hands.
We shall see how I feel about Dr. Needleman post op.....
It is now July 8, 2003 and I am changing to a new surg. at OSUMC. As I have written before, I have typed up all my information (ie. health and diet history, Dr.s names, etc.). I just mailed all of that, with my aplication to the RN that helps you get into his program. I hope this will help things go faster. We will see. Good luck to me and all of us! I found out yesterday that, even thou my insurance does not require a diet history, this program does require a 3 month supervised diet with a 5% of weight loss. I see my PCP in 3 days and will be asking for this diet.<br>Katrina
Dr. Needleman was very professional and made me feel right at ease. His office staff was great and very friendly. The doctor and his staff always had time to answer myquestions. Since I was a experimental surgery case (gastric lap band)protocol had to be met and a certain amount of visits I had to do, but my after care has been excellent even after the experimental time frame was up, I still can call and talk with the doctor or the nurse when ever I have a question. When I initially went in for my pre-op, the doctor met with me along with his clinical nurse; I also viewed a video on the procedure I was about to have. All the risks were explained prior to surgery. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Needleman that I even recommended him to do my daughters surgery. Both bedside and surgical were great. The only downfall I had with Dr. Neeldman and OSU was the time frame to get in and have surgery. You are looking at approximately 6 months from the time you send in initial application.
I thought he was nice and thorough.
I liked him even more after surgery.
His staff is nice, considerate and accommodating.
Not seeing him enough at hospital.
He is a very competent and responsible doctor.
He seems to really into after care.
Have not been to first after surgery visit so I do not know.
He told me all the details and left nothing for the imagination.
He is A+.
Both Great!
I found Dr. Needleman to be very knowledgable without being arrogant, able to explain the procedure in the clearest of analogies, and willing to listen. I had a bit of confidence going in, knowing he is the head of bariatric surgery at OSU and teaches other surgeons to operate laproscopically; but once I spoke with him, my confidence soared. He highly recommended this site, too! It has been a long journey, but I feel that I'm at the right place at the right time. His office administator is Suzy, who is pleasant as well as highly capable. I cannot say anything negative about either one of these two people.
First impression of Dr. Needleman: Very professional, open to questions, thorough, but a bit distracted. Had the feeling he was very busy but he took time with me. I hope he's a "listener" when I need him to be. He agreed that I could listen to music on a CD during surgery and in recovery (something I've done in a research project in past surgery which was a great benefit in post surgery pain and healing.) I was pleased with his openness to an idea that is new to him. His secretary was cordial and helpful but other staff seem overwhelmed and I had trouble with "lost" paperwork during the application process. I don't know anyone who has had him....hope I will hear from someone with firsthand experience. He addressed the risks of surgery thoroughly. No one has talked to me about aftercare and that is a concern since I do not live in Columbus. I believe that he is very competent but will wait to rate his bedside manner. Anyone interested in the use of MUSIC in surgery please contact me and I will share my experience.
