My first impression of Dr. Rowitz and his staff...I was completely at ease. He is very caring and talks to me in such and understanding and non-judgemental way. His nurse that I have been dealing with, Debbie, has been sent to me directly from my prayers. She keeps in touch with me and she never gets frustrated with me when I call her at least twice a week.
Dr. Rowitz wanted to make sure I had all the information necessary to make my final decision. He wanted me to understand that I would be seeing him till either of us moved or parred away! :) I felt much better knowing that he would be seeing me long term since my PCP wasn't really thrilled about the surgery.
Dr. Rowitz has an extensive program getting its feet off the ground in Anderson with a Psychologist, Nutritionist and Support Group.
As far as anything negative to say...I would prefer to have the procedure performed at a different facility. Anderson Area Medical Center is one o f my very least favorite places to be. (as a nursing student in another area I have been in several facilities to make this comparison fairly)
I met Dr. Rowitz on Jan. 23. He does not sugar coat the surgery. He tells you everything you need to know. Make sure if you have any questions to write them down and take them with you. I did not do that. He told me to e-mail him with any questions that I can think of. His office staff will help with the insurance and will even do the first appeal. I would recommend him to anyone. He does not believe in smokeing. I am going to have to quit for the surgery. It will be worth it in the long run.
Dr. Rowitz was great. He spent a lot of time
going over the entire procedure and what I
could expect after surgery. He told me up
front of all the risks and possible
complications and he let me know that I would
be a patient for life. Dr. Rowitz nurse
(Debbie) was wonderful as well - they were
both very caring and never made me feel the
least bit embarrased by my weight.
I HAVE ONLY HAD ONE VISIT WITH HIM BUT HE WAS VERY NICE AND CONCERNED. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND EXPLAINED THINGS IN GREAT DETAIL AND IN EASY TO UNDERSTAND LANGUAGE. HIS STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL. HE GAVE ALL THE BENEFITS AS WELL AS THE RISKS OF THE SURGERY. HE HAS A SUPPORT GROUP THAT MEETS ONCE A MONTH AND TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE HIS PATIENT FOR LIFE.
