I had a few complications with my surgery, but I am very happy with the surgeon. She made me feel very comfortable. I had to spend extra days in the hospital and she was there every day to let me know my progress.

Doctor Berntsen just performed my VSG surgery May 30th. My surgery was very quick. I do think most of my interactions with her felt very rushed but that is probably because she is at the only Bariatric Surgery center in town. I got the impression that once your surgery is done and there is no longer risk for leakage her part is done. Do not expect her to sit with you and hold your hand post surgery. It was pretty brisk, in and out, but I was not dissapointed in her work. My incisions were done very nicely, and I have not had any complications at all.

Dr Berntsen with Dr Dunshee assisting performed the Duodenal Switch on me on 6/4/10 They took out my gallbladder and appendix at the same time. I've had no complications and love my Dr. They have a good follow up program and listen to any concerns I have. She used a 40 fr bougie and 150 cm common channel and it's really worked well for me I just made it to normal bmi yesterday and am so happy I had this surgery.

My first impression was at the first meeting at the hospital to learn more about the process she was very polite and quiet. I guest that was because where we were.rn02-28-09 I have ben seeing her off and on for a long time now. I have regained back some of my weight I hope she can help me start to lose again..

they staff at Tallgrass was and is the best medical staff I have ever met in my 41 yrs of life. Yeah I had a little bit of problem after surgery but in no way at all was it their fault. People ask me all the time if I would do it again and I tell them in a flash without a shaddow of doubt in my mind and heart that I would do it again if I could get the same staff that I had . They are the best , most professional friendly team ever and I thank God that He led me to them. He (GOD) did an awesome job to stir me in the right direction as He alwasy does.rnrnThey (Rachell) called me all the time to check on me and if I ever needed anything all I had to do was call Rachell and she would say let me check with the doc and I will call you right back, and she was true to her word, she always called me back and it took her no longer then 10- 15 minutes tops to be calling me back.rnrnon a scale of 0 -10 , I rate the team 100 because they are that good and yes I meant to put 100 NOT 10.

I'm scheduled to meet Dr. Bernstein on Aug 29th and see what type of surgery I will have. More than likely it will be an open RNY. I knew I wouldn't have a chance at the scope so I am ready!! The bariatric nurse is awesome and keeps in touch.rnrnOnce I see the doc I will post more.

My first impression of her was that she was very knowledgeable about the surgery. I also felt a little rushed as the nurse came in halfway through our visit and she said she had someone on the phone. So after that I felt like she hurried up our visit. Part of that was my fault, I should of said you go ahead and take the call, I can wait. What I have read about her though, that she is very straight forward and to the point and a very good surgeon. The staff was very pleasant. I will go back for my pre-op visit on May 11th.

I like Dr. Bernstein alot. Before surgery she sent me a link to an informational video to watch. Durimg the video, I was given the opportunity to stop and type any questions that I might have had. I did have alot. Those questions were sent to her and she brought the list to my first consult and went over each question. That was great!! For some reason I get very nervous and usually forget what I plan to say when I go see a doctor. This was the best part - to get the chance to really address my concerns. The staff is great - very helpful!! Aftercare could be a bit more specific. I don't get to go to the support groups (I live 2 hours away), so maybe that is where people get more instruction.rnOVERALL - VERY PLEASED!!

What an awesome surgeon!!! I could not have asked for a better surgeon. All the surgeons at Tallgrass are exceptional.....
