Dr. Jennifer McAllaster, Bariatric Surgeon Jennifer McAllaster, MD, FACS is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon sharing her commitment to surgical excellence and the highest quality of patient care at The University of Kansas Physicians Topeka General, Vascular & Bariatric Surgery Center. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas and earned her Medical Degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. McAllaster is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Bariatric Surgery Division at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Weight Loss Surgery with Dr. McAllaster My father had a bad accident when I was a young child and broke his neck. He's been a quadriplegic ever since and was in the hospital for about six months. We were in the hospital a lot with him during that time and I saw the care that the nurses and the doctors provided. That experience is what instilled in me the desire to become a physician. I love being able to help someone immediately and see those results. It is immensely gratifying when you're able to cure them of their cancer or with the bariatric operations where with the weight loss patients will say we've given them their life back.
