Dr. Sanchez is young and handsome...that made me quite nervous at first! But he is also very kind and personable and his demeanor is professional but not at all stuffy or unapproachable. rnHe could tell that I was rather nervous when we first met so he talked me through that, he reminded me that I needed to be calm to be able to really understand all the information he was giving me and to be able to think of any questions or concerns.rnThe doctor and nurses seem great, very excited to assist you in the process. After the consultation you are given a follow-up appointment for one month away, it is explained that if you get everything done by that appointment you will get to schedule on that visit. You are also informed that you will now only be dealing with the surgical consultantant when you have any issues between now and surgery...rnHere is where I have a complaint. I had issues with reaching the surgical consultantant, every time I called I got voicemail. The outgoing message says all calls will be returned within 24 hours, but I waited days for call backs. Also, none of my faxes ever reached the office including important test results. It wasn't untill my second visit that I was informed that this is because the main fax line gets overloaded and some faxes never come through...I was then given an alternative fax number which has proved to work; this is info that would have saved me many phone calls, trips to doctors' offices and many headaches.rn Aftercare is definitely emphasized. There is a lot of follow-up with him and support groups are encouraged. A list of groups in alternate areas was given as well. Also, there are 2 classes taught by nurses as part of the pre-op. The first goes over the surgery itself and after- care. The second reviews post-op nutrition and how to prepare for your homecoming. rnThe risks of surgery were clearly outlined. He was honest about possible complications that could arise and explained what they do at the hospital to prevent and detect any possible problems.rnSo far my experience has been a 10, of course the surgery itself and follow-up appointments will tell a lot more.rnFor me, surgical competence is more important than bedisde manner, but as a person who struggles with anxiety it is very important that I feel safe and comfortable with my doctor. If my anxiety increases that affects my blood pressure, my temp, heart rate, etc. That is why I am so grateful that Dr. Sanchez embodies both the competence and good bedside manner.
My first impression of Dr. Sanchez was great. He was seemed very competent. I felt comfortable once I met him. His office staff all seemed friendly and helpful. rnDr. Sanchez addressed the risks of surgery, stresses aftercare, and that this is a tool, and requires my effort for life.rnSo far he seems like a great doctor, I think surgical competence is much better, but if you could have both competence and a good side bed manner that would be great. And it seems like he has both.
I had my appointment with Dr. Sanchez and I like him very much. He was informative, listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. He's an experienced bariatric surgeon who graduated USC Med school and Stanford for further training coupled with a great bedside manner.
His office is very nice, well organized with very helpful support staff. You definitely feel like everyone wants to help you succeed. I'd recommend then without reservation.
My first impression of Dr. Sanchez was, wow he looks young and I don't think he's much older than I am. I did my homework before I met Dr. Sanchez and learned he received his training at Stanford under a well known bariatric surgeon. Dr. Sanchez further educated me of his background when asked. After my initial consultation I felt confident in his skills and knew I was making a good choice. After my final appointment with Dr. Sanchez prior to surgery, my confidence in him grew, I felt his compassion. The office staff is fabulous and very friendly.
He seemed very young but very knowledgable. He was also very patient, friendly, and caring. He has actually bothered to call me when I was going through my "hesitations" and also made pro-active efforts to make sure to take any pre-cautions that my maybe needed are taken. He is definitely great and so far, my impression continues to be the same.
The office staff is really good too. Yvette, his assistant is awesome and really knows her stuff on how to deal with insurance companies. Leave it to her capable hands to not worry about the insurance if she says, no need to worry, don't worry:)
Dr. Sanchez emphasizes aftercare and pre op care a lot. I will update more after I return from surgery on March 1st:)
