Thr first time that I met Dr. Barry Sanchez was on October 3, 2006. I went to his office in Burlingame, Ca. for a consultation. I thought he was very understanding about my reasons for wanting this surgery. He explained the surgery procedure to me in detail and also told me what I needed to do to prepare myself for this type of procedure before he could even agree to perform the surgery on me. The staff that work in his office was very cordial to me and also very friendly. That was how my first meeting with him went.rn
I was referred to Dr. Sanchez by someone he studied with. He seems very knowledgeable and like he knows what's going on. He is caring but not coddling. He is making me lose 30 lbs before surgery. The office is very nice and even has bigger seats so you feel comfortable. They're in the same office as a bunch of vascular surgeons so it's not just for obesity wls. I don't like that I often get re-scheduled (it's a far drive for me) and I think scheduling is somewhat shoddy. They make me very frustrated and I don't always get a call back from my care coordinator.rnrnHe seems to know his stuff, goes over the risks and benefits and gives a very well-rounded picture.rn-----------------rnthe office has been very helpful to me with my insurance problems. Yvette has been wonderful and I'm finally approved so I should have a date soon!
Wow was my very first impression because he is a hotty! No b/s. He was very thorough about surgery, what it was, what is required or me. The best was he took the time to tell me, not just put me into a class or listen to a video. rnThe staff was great, from phone call backs to time waiting in the office. Plus the nutritionists at the El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA are great. rn3/15/07- RNY 1/31/07 post op now and doing great. Went to Burlingame yester and lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks and 10lbs the first week, total 25 for 5 weeks. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Dr. Sanchez & I discussed a knee surgery I need for a torn minisucuss (splng) and I have to wait. He's very throurogh about why I have to wait. His demenor is always what I need to hear. I'll be there again April 25, 07 for my next weigh in.
Dr. Barry Sanchez, is indeed (as i was warned) very good looking. Normally I would be a little intimidated by that given the content of our conversation. Fortunately he gets right to business in a not-to-friendly but very comfortable way. I met with him for about an hour and we discussed my concerns, questions and what type of surgery I would prefer. He asked that I lose 10lbs before our next meeting (one month away) and that I be tested for sleep apnea. I met with Yvette, his coordinator before I left and she set me up with everything I needed including my next appointment. So far, I have had a very positive experience with Dr. Sanchez.
Dr. Sanchez is wonderful! He was gentle and had excellent bedside manner. His office and staff are also great. At my first post op appt he was making sure that I was taking my supplements diligently and let me know why they are so important. He was open about the risks of surgery. Of course, I would say that surgical competence is better, but with this surgeon, his bedside manner was just as great! I am blessed that he is my surgeon!
1. My first impression of Dr Sanchez was how young he is, but extremely friendly, personable, understanding and supportive ... not bad on the eyes either.rn2. My impression of him has not changed from my first.... only reaffirmed my first impression.rn3. Office staff is great. My schedule is Yvette .. she's the best. Everyone is friendly, professional and they always have smiles on their faces.rn4. Dr Sanchez addressed all of the risks of surgery in a direct and no-nonsense fashion. He was friendly, but wants you to know what you are getting yourself into.rn5. So far, before the surgery, I would rate him a 5 out of a 5. I work in a busy Level I trauma center and have been an RN for the past 14 years. I have come into contact with plenty of surgeons ... so I trust my gut feelings about him.rn6. I feel that surgical competence and beside manner are important. If I had to choose, I would choose the surgical competence over the good bedside manner, though. I feel both are equally important, as you can have increased sense of confidence going into the surgery with someone who has a good bedside manner. Makes you want to do your follow up as well.rn**I haven't had any negative experiences so far with the doctor or his office staff.
