I've only met Dr. Moeinolmolki (his staff call him Dr. Moein) once so far but I was very impressed with him. He honestly seemed to care about all of my medical care and not just the surgery. He made some very good suggestions to me -- ones my family doctor had never mentioned. As a result, I came to realize I wasn't happy with my family doctor and found another one.
----------
Since writing the first paragraph, I've come to value Dr. Moeinolmolki even more. One of the tests he originally ordered was an upper GI series. This showed a large hiatal hernia. Because of this hernia and his thoroughness in making sure I was ready for surgery, he did an endoscopy on me and discovered I had undiagnosed ulcers in my stomach and Barrett's Esophagus. He's prescribed medication to treat both conditions and, after allowing time for the inflammation to subside, has scheduled my surgery to both repair the hiatal hernia and place the gastric band. I am more and more impressed with the obvious concern he shows for his patients.
Everyone I've come in contact with at GBMC's Comprehensive Obesity Management Program has been very pleasant and willing to take as much time as necessary to answer any questions or concerns I have. Everyone tries to do as much as possible to ensure the success of every patient.
I'm still pre-op but it seems like there could me a more structured aftercare program. There are support group meetings once a month but I'm not aware of any other sftercare program. If I find out more post-op, I'll come back and update this review.
All in all, I feel very fortunate -- blessed even -- to have found Dr. Moeinolmolki and GBMC COMP.
----------
I am now post-op and still extremely happy with my choice of both GBMC and Dr. Moeinolmolki. I like that Dr. Moein believes in doing fills gradually. Some surgeons are aggressive but Dr. Moein believes that adjusting the band gradually improves the chances of no slippage. Again, he impresses me with his care and concern for his patients.
I first met my doctor when I attended an info session about the surgeries he performs. He seemed knowledgeable and his background and training (years in the field) gave me confidence in him as my surgeon. My impression of Dr. Moeinolmolki grew with time. The only thing that I was not happy about was that I was not losing weight before surgery and Dr. Moein was going to hold up my surgery unless I lost at my next appt. I was not told this before hand and luckily I did lose a couple pounds. This irked me since I was ready for the surgery! I had diabetes and took insulin that made me gain weight, have heridity heavyness in the women in our family, and am post menopausal none of which helps with weight loss. The staff was and is very nice and helpful. The aftercare is emphasized with exercise and keeping with the protein/liquid intake. I do wish there was more info about vitamins/supplements that one can take a year or more after surgery. We get a booklet before surgery but nothing for long term afterwards. I had originally wanted lap band surgery rather than gastric bypass and Dr. Moien said I would not be happy with the little weight loss and did not recommend that surgery. I took his advice and it is the best thing I ever did. I can now go out and do things that I could not do a year ago. I took a 2 week vacation this summer that would have been impossible the previous summer. I would rate Dr. Moien excellent overall in both surgical competence and bedside manner. I have recommended him to others, one who had a bad experience with gastric bypass and another who just had lap band surgery.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF HIM, WAS SEEMEDrnWELL EDUCATED AND PASSIONATE ABOUT HIS rnJOB. MY IMPRESSION NEVER CHANGED IT rnJUST GOT BETTER. HIS OFFICE STAFF rnARE FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL. THERErnIS NOTHING I DON'T LIKE ABOUT HIM. FUTURErnPATIENTS SHOULD KNOW DR. MOEINOLMOLKI, WILLrnBE THERE FOR YOU AND WILL GIVE YOU A NEWrnLIFE. HE IS STILL VERY ACTIVE IN MY rnLIKE AFTER THE OPERATION. HIS AFTERrnCARE PROGRAM IS VERY STRUCTURED. HE WASrnVERY CLEAR ABOUT THE RISKS OF THE OPERATION,rnAND AFTER. REMEMBER I AM 63 YEARS OLD.rnI WOULD RATE HIM A PERFECT 10. I WOULDrnSAY HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDErnMANNER ARE GREAT.rn
I had my surgery on 7/29/09 and it has been nothing but a truly wonderful experience. I can't believe how much better my life and health are already. It has already exceeded all my expectations. Dr. Moe has been beyond great. Obviously, I can't say enough positive things about him and no, we are not related. I would truly recommend him and his practice to anyone. I tell people each and every day of what I did and how much better I feel today. The wife won't let me buy new clothes yet but I love that feeling of loose pants and how everyone keeps encouraging me. I have given Dr. Moe's name and number to many people and openly discuss the care and attention I received before the surgery and after the surgery as well. I feel like I have a life again. I'm so much more active and recently started biking the local trails with the wife. It's a great feeling to be out and enjoying life as it was meant to be. Dr. Moe changed my life and I am eternally grateful to him and his staff.
Dr. Moeinolmolki did my gastric bypass on April 16, 2008. The first time I met him he seemed a little distant however as my appointments went on I realized I was wrong he is just really quite, he explained everything in depth, made sure I had no questions and wasrnwonderfully caring in the hospital, I wouldrnhighly recommend him to anyone thinking ofrnhaving the surgery. Even after 18 months hernspends the same amount of time with me herndid at my 1 week post op visit, answeringrnquestions and being helpful. I would raternDr. Moein a \"10\". Dr. Moein's surgical competence and bedside manner are both outstanding.rn
Dr Moein is very professional and has a great bedside manner. When I first met him he was quite but asked the questions that he needed to and more importantly listened to my answers. Whenever I questioned him about anything that was going on he took the time to make sure I understood the answer. rnrnThe office staff was great always pleasant and make you feel comfortable while you are there. rnrnWhen someone is thinking about working with him they should know that he can only help you if you're honest with him. rnrnDr Moein stresses aftercare and with me once I started running he kept reminding me not to rush things. The aftercare program available is great I followed the instructions for diet and exercise and feel that is why I had the success I did.rnrnOn a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best I would give him a 10+.
I keep reading how friendly and compassionate Dr. Moen. I found him to be aloof, at best. He seemed friendlier at the seminar than he did at his office. His administrative staff is very incompetent and not very friendly. I cannot remember a time when they knew an answer to a question I asked, even the most basic of questions. rnrnHowever, his nurse Nick, nutritionist Casey and the LPN are all friendly, competent and the shining stars of the office. I have not heard much about aftercare since my surgery. rnrnAs a surgeon, Dr. Moen. is excellent. I did not care about his personality. I was more interested in his surgical skills, which are outstanding. I had absolutely no complications. My incisions were neat and small. rnrnI would definitely recommend Dr. Moen. Just don't be expecting any warm and fuzzy stuff.rn
First impression was wonderful, his information seminar was very imformative. His office staff is very caring and attentive to your needs. Dr. Moein. answred all of my quetions and explained the entire process before the surgery. I had a minor complication with the surgery, but he was on top of the situation and scheduled extra follow up appointments to make sure everything is ok and that I'm healing properly. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Moienolmolki.
I needed a hospital that is in Maryland and is a Center of Excellence so that my insurances will pay. First went to John Hopkins Bayview and did not care for the surgeon or the way the entire staff tried to pressure me into having a procedure that I did not want. Then went to Greater Baltimore Medical Center and met Dr. Moeinolmolki. I had been steadfast in saying that I wanted lap band or nothing, but he made me realize that at my weight and with worsening diabetes that RNY was really the way to go. He took his time with me and was very kind and caring. The nurse Tammy is also great. My surgery is set for July 14!rnI'm so glad I found Dr. Mo and GMBC. This is the place to go if you want an entire hospital of wonderful people taking excellent care of you. I'm two days post-op and am amazed that there isn't more pain involved. Thanks Dr. Mo and GBMC.
