Ashley Vernon Bariatric Surgeon MD
Dr. Ashley Vernon and the entire Bariatric team at Brigham & Women's Hospitial are professional, kind, courteous and always willing to give the help and support I needed for the preparation leading up to surgery, during my hospital stay and the continuous after care I receive has been tremendous. They have a fantastic program that you get Nutritional support for life at no charge! All the Nutritionist are awesome and don't make you feel bad in any way if you are struggling. They just help to get you back on track! Dr. Vernon has been very supportive from the beginning. She took the time to explain the procedure, and took the time out to answer all my questions She is an excellent surgeon (I had no complications at all!) and she just really cares about each patient as a person which makes all the difference when dealing with doctors. I recommend her without reservation! I started at 330 and now I'm 255 and I'm 6 months post op... I have more to go, but I know I'm going to do it. Having this surgery with Dr. Vernon was the best decision I ever made!! Don't wait another minute. My only regret is I wish I did it sooner!
I met Dr. Vernon back in June 2014, by a fluke!!!! I initially had an appt with Dr. Brooks and we consulted but did not go well, so he sent in Dr Vernon...I was very upset after talking with the other surgeon and he walked out of the room, sitting there crying in come Dr Vernon. She was the most compassionate person I have ever met. She went thru all the different procedures that would help me for the symptoms I had. She very clear, precise, and to the point. I had questions and she answered them on a level that I understood. I had my surgery on February 6, 2015 and wouldn't ask for a better surgeon. She came in the day after my surgery on a Saturday in a blizzard to see me. I am a totally different person and have a new outlook on life. She is the best!!!!! AWESOME person with a great heart!!!!
Love Dr. Vernon. She's kind, understanding, and very knowledgeable. She will go out of her way to make you comfortable and explains things in a way any normal person can understand. So happy with my experience.

I like Dr.Vernon. She is the type of person who takes her time with you. She listen to what I had to say and explained everything out for you. Dr. Vernon Staff is also wonderful the staff calls and make all the arrangement you will need they try really hard to combine appointments they know your time is valuable too.
I met Dr. Vernon on my pre-op consultation. She seems to have a good mix of empathy and confidence. She was clear and concise about the risks and rewards of RNY. I am glad I chose her. rnNow that I have had RNY surgery, I can CONFIDENTLY say - wow, I picked the right person! She is wonderful. I even love going to my check ups...lol. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Vernon. rn(Sorry - says that 100% positive remarks aren't helpful...but I REALLY have only praise for this compassionate and talented woman)rnrnJennifer, who works with Dr. Vernon - for what seems to be everything - is fabulous. She has over-delivered on promises. If she promised to have information out in the next couple of weeks, it got there 3 days later. She is simply on top of things and helps the process move along nicely. rnrn

Dr. Vernon first stuck me as a very straight forward person. She is honest and is well liked in the facility where she works. I did some research on her before choosing and everyone had nice words for her. She was very blunt during our consult explaing the risk vs the benefits of the procedure and that I would have to follow up with the office to stay on track. She emphaized that this is a tool to use in order to achive weight loss and that only by changing my behaviors would I keep it off as there are ways to cheat.
My first impression of Dr. Vernon was that she was very knowledgeable, had great bedside mannor, and was empathetic to weight loss patients. My impressions of her have only gotten better over my past few meetings with her. She has always taken the time to answer any questions that myself or my family may have.
I liked Dr.Vernon from the first day I met her. However I didn't see her before the surgery or even after the surgery. She sent her \"Surgical Team\" to check on my day 1 and day 2 post op. I didn't see her once my entire time in the hospital! That seems kind of strange to me. I would have liked to have seen her once but oh well. Her staff was nice. I feel I didn't get enough post op info but there are ways I can get in touch with her or her staff. When I did meet with her before the surgery she knew what she was talking about. I would just mention that you would like to see her before or after the surgery. In hindsight maybe I should have done that.
Dr. Vernon was my choice of surgeon because I work at BWH and kept meeting one happy lapband patient after another. She seems to be the \"favorite\" among the OR staff and well, they would know! I needed my gallbladder out as well and being banded depended on its being successfully removed without any chance of infection. I was very glad that I had a highly skilled surgeon who was able to do both surgeries at once. Everywhere I went in the hospital other employees- nurse, anesthesiologists-all seemed to offer the same opinion: that she is a meticulous surgeon as well as a nice person. She has a fabulous, efficient, funny secretary as well, Jane, and it seems that she and Dr. Vernon work very well together. Two nutritionists are easy to reach with questions as are the PAs. I've been very happy with everything except for the longish times sitting in the waiting room which seems to come with the territory at big teaching hospitals.
