Dr. Williams was very upfront and honest.
My first impressions was correct about Dr. Williams. His nurse Jennifer is wonderful.
Two weeks after sugery I am suppose to meet with my family doctor so she can monitor my progress. Dr. Williams told me about a support group that meets every few months at the hospital. In the beginning Dr. Williams told me about the risks of this surgery and any other surgery anyone has. Dr. Williams is an excellent doctor who is continuing his education to help more people in this world.

I have a consult with Dr.A.Williams 11/13/02
I am looking forward to our visit. Every thing I have heard has been positive...and reassuring. Will post more after the 13th.
11/14/02 First impression-busy...,we had a group discussion to explain everything...to save time. This was OK...,he was confident, informative, answered all questions, explained the procedure, pro's and cons of the different types of surgery the dangers and risks, expected outcome, what our part required,he stressed the importance of follow-up and aftercare and getting involved with a support group. The staff was friendly, courteous, Jennifer, very friendly and professional, Wanda was also very informative, caring and helpful.Dr. Williams was very at ease, sure, and informative, over all I would rate him an 9. After surgery I'll re-evaluate...lol. I would like to have had a more one on one visit or at least at some point during the consult,to discuss concerns individually. However he did answer all questions patiently so thats what counts. Which is better surgical competance or bedside manner? Competence by far...both will be a bonus! Bedside manner to me (being a retired nurse) seems to reasure the patient and puts them at ease, you seem to have better compliance...especially if you feel that the staff is concerned about you and your care and well being and not just another job, or a means of income...

July 3, 2002
I had my first consultation with Dr. Antonio Williams this past Wednesday. Dr. Williams seems to be very confident in his surgical ability and the type of surgery he performs. His staff was cordial but so busy, my appointment was originally for the 10th, but they called and bumped me to the 3rd. Truthfully I felt unprepared and shouldn't have taken an earlier appt. especially right before the 4th of July. Dr. Williams was eager to explain the procedure as well as aftercare. I guess my next step is to see a cardiologist, etc.
I am very thankful for this site. The information I have gathered from everyone who has participated is great.
Now post op! Just had to add how pleased I am that Dr. Williams did my surgery. He actually followed through on everything he said he would! (Can you tell I've had surgery before?) My surgery was on a Friday and I was so afraid I would be left in the hospital until Monday! But Dr. Williams was right there with me through the weekend. I am really impressed with him and his nurse, Jennifer. I recommend his services highly!

I had my first consultation with my surgeon on June 12, 2002. I want to say that so far I have been very, very favorably impressed with Dr. Antonio J. Williams in Montgomery, Alabama. He's new to Montgomery but I think I was very lucky to have found him so soon. He's extremley nice, very easy to talk to, he made me feel that he is very competent and I just loved his nurse, Jennifer Owes. Overall I would rate my first visit with him and his staff at a 10! He his currently processing my paperwork through BC/BS for my surgery. He said he saw no reason I would not be accepted for the surery due to all my comorbidities and past diet history. He said it usually takes 2-4 weeks to get approval. They are handling all the paperwork for me and all I have to do is wait to hear from him. I highly recommend him and will post more as I get further into the surgery process!

I've now had surgery and want to tell everybody that I love Dr. Williams!!! He's a great surgeon, very caring, etc. My incision looks beautiful, about 3 1/2 inches long and totally healed. If you're looking for a great doctor, go see Dr. Williams!!!! Also, his nurse Jennifer is top notch!!!!!

I thought my first visit was very informative about the pro's and con's of the WLS and what to expect. I feel confident about Dr. Williams performance of the surgery-his success rate is excellent. His nurse Jennifer does a very good job of explaining everything-she has a cheerful personality, too. They both explained the risks of surgery in great detail.
