Anthony Terracina Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS

My initial appointment with Dr. Terracina was exactly two weeks ago, on May 1, 2002. Dr. Terracina seemed confident and caring. I have heard nothing but positive comments from other patients. Although I have talked with several employees, I have mainly talked with Terri and Charlene. Everyone at his office has been caring, professional and courteous. However, like most offices, they appear to be overworked. It sometimes takes a few days to get through to Terri. I don't want to be a pest, but I know from reading other posts that persistence is helpful. I can tell from their attitudes that Terri and Charlene truly care about each patient.
I do not have a surgery date yet. (Dr. Terracina won't give you a surgery date until your insurance approves you.) I am waiting on Terri to fax the information to BCBS for approval. I expect to be initially denied, as I have been told BCBS is doing all they can to avoid approval, and my BMI is "only" 40. I will appeal.
As far as aftercare, I don't recall much discussion, but it may have been that I was nervous. The only negative thing I can say is that it takes a long time to get an appointment or to have staff return calls. In February, one of our local televison stations did a story on an employee who had surgery with Dr. Terracina. That surgery got a lot of coverage, and I think that the staff has been overwhelmed with calls. requests for appointments.

Well, I've had my appointment, and Dr. Terracina and his office staff were wonderful. They were very nice to me, which isn't always the case with "obese" patients. Dr. T explained the procedure thoroughly, as well as what to expect afterward. He comes highly recommended from both my co-workers (I'm a medical professional) and other patients. I was favorably impressed with his bedside manner and compassion. A special thanks to Terri who has gone about 1,000,000 extra miles to help me!!!!! As for surgical competence? I'm 2 weeks post-op and still alive and kicking with no complications. I think he did a fine job :).

I'm not sure who I was impressed with the most, Dr.Terracina or his staff. What a wonderful Doctor and he has a fantastic staff. Everyone is so caring and polite. Supplied me with all the information for before and after surgery. ON a scale of 1-10 I would give them a 11.

Dr T is GREAT!! What more can I say!
Now that I have had my surgery, there's alot more I can say--Dr T is very caring, his bedside manner is ---folks this man is just pure wonderfull. I feel blessed to have had this man do my surgery.

I met Dr T. last Friday - he is a very wonderful person. Very caring and concerned about the health of his patients. And he was very careful of the way he spoke to me - my 19 yr old daughter was in there with me and she was offended because of his reference to me being so overweight, but he spoke of it in a very kind way! My BMI is enough to qualify me for the surgery w/o other comorbid conditions, but SHE didn't appreciate him telling me so!!! His office staff is wonderful as well. A lady named Terry has been helping me; I understand there is a 2nd lady named Pam who works with her,although I haven't spoken with her as of yet. It takes a special type of person to work with patients with our type of problem; they must be very sensitive

Dr. Terracina was extremely helpful in talking with me, he never made me uncomfortable about my weight. He wanted to help me. I respect him now as much as I did the first conversation we had. The staff has been very helpful also. I haven't found anything I don't like about him. He spent a great deal of time discussing the importance of medications, diet and my general health following my surgery. He was very forth coming with me regarding the complications of the surgery, I felt like I understood everything very well.

I am glad I found him to help me. I had only minor problems after surgery, but he listened and cared for me through every complaint.I did develop an infection at the drain site, but it only lasted a few days. After my surgery,in the hospital,
the Doctor spent time with me and my family answering their questions, I have a teenager, so this was very important to her.

If I were to go through this again, I wouldn't change a thing.

I have known Dr. Terracina for the past 3 1/2 years. I completely trust him to do my surgery and any of his partners who assist.

Dr. Terracina's office staff is very friendly. Terri answered all my questions, took all my calls and worked with me right up until we got the approval.

He has a very busy schedule.

His bedside manner is excellent.
He explained the surgery well and what to expect.

I can provide more information after my surgery.

I have not met him yst my first Appt is on 10/22/01. but i have heard great things about him from people in town that have had him.

Terri is a great person.

Well today is 10/23/01 one day after the day i met the man who will help change my life. What can i say? He is a nice guy, and others have said he not bad to look at, and they were right:)
But first impression is that he generly cares about his patients & staff. Speaking about his staff. Everyone that i came in contact with yesterday was great. And i really want to say thanks to Terri. She is a great person, what a knowlagable person. I am sure there are other great people there, but i have yet to meet them.
If you live in Panama city and are thinking about this sugery. This office would be a great place to start.

I found Dr. Terracina to be a very caring surgeon. I think that most of his staff is very friendly and helpful. He asked me how much I knew about the surgery, and answered all of my questions. I was told at the very first appointment that I would be required to have a psych eval and have a meeting with the nutritionist. I do have to say that going to a psychologist was a scary experience for me....I had never been to one before. But after the first meeting with Dr. Finch, he told me his impressions and recommended more visits with him. Both prior to the surgery and after the surgery. I continue to see Dr. Finch, until both of us feel that I am ready to be let loose on my own. Dr. Terricina did not sugar coat the surgery. He informed me of the different risks. I think Dr. Terracina is a very good surgeon. Has a pleasant bedside manner and will answer any questions.

Dr. Terracina has a very relaxed professional manner. He took his time with me an answered all my questions throughly. His office staff have been very helpful and are taking care of submitting to my insurance carrier for approval. My information was faxed to BCBS on 9/10/01 so I'm waiting to hear something real soon. Dr. Terracina has been doing the Roux NY for a year without any major complications thus far.
