My first impression of Dr. Petrick, is that he is very personable, and kind. He was three hours behind on my consult date due to one of his patients having a problem, and instead of brushing it aside, he took care of it, and it put him behind schedule.(but it was well worth the wait). Future patients should show patience when going to the office, for he takes all his patients very seriously, and he does get behind, but it just proves he cares. He has a structured aftercare, with how many times you see him, and then go back to Dr.Still for more visits. He made me fully aware of all risks, and beneifts of the surgery. I would rate Dr. Petrick as a 10, along with Dr. Still and the staff at the obesity clinic in Danvill, PA all are 10's.

Dr Petrick was awesome! He was a very good surgeon! His staff was all very nice and supportive! When I had any questions they made sure they answered then to the T.He wrote everything down about the after care and even gave me a 24 hour line where i could reach him if i needed anything.

Dr. Petrick did a wonderful job on my surgery. He is very skilled and takes the time to make sure you know what you will have done during the operation and possible side effects of such surgery. I felt at ease with my decision to use him as my surgeon. He is part of a large team of people who are all working together to make your weight loss surgery a success. Everyone makes the effort to assist you in whatever way they can to help you towards your goals. While in the hospital I was visited by many of the members of the team. Each one taking the time to focus on their special aspect of helping the patient. I absolutely recomment this hospital to others! In comparing stories of other post op patients and the types of things their hospitals did for them, this team is A+!

My first impression of Dr.Petrick was wonderful. He talked to me like I was a person and not like another obesity patient. He went over everything and then some that my other WL doctor Dr. Still has gone over with me.Both Petrick&Still's staff are informative with everything I have encountered in the last 6mos on my way to Gastric Bypass Surgery.
I am glad I went to Geisinger in Danville for my journey. If I was unsure of the procedure when I started I am sure now.

My surgery will be at Geisinger Medical
center Danville Pa. Dr. Petrick, Dr.
Mary Reed, and Dr.Bill Strodel, I'm not sure
which I will get at this point in time, my
Dr. Dr. Still has me in the program. I started in Oct.2002 and late April 2003 he
said he will write the letter to the insurance company. I've met Dr. Reed my impression was very good.
I have more meetings and test before
I see the surgeon and get a date I'm
hoping no later than June. They have
told us and gave us a paper on the
risk. #20 is death.

My first impression was someone who knew what he was doing, he still walked me through every step of the way.

the office staff was great, when I had a problem post op, they made sure I could speak with him.I only wish he had someone to field calls for him because he is very busy, and the return calls where up to 2 hours later.but I am thankful he returned my calls, I was concerned I would be on my own after being sent home, but he assured me, that he would always return my calls if I needed anything.

Future patients should know that he is a very competent Surgeon and cares for his patients.
aftercare was gone over in detail,
structured aftercare? not that I remember, just I saw him 6 days post op and will see him 25 days post op

did he address the risks? of course
and we all know the major risk... :(

I would rate him great overall, he was really there for me when I had a small post op problem.
Surgical competance and bedside manner were both exceptional, and I owe my new life to him.

I was referred to Dr. Petrick by Dr. Christopher Still, a dietician in the Obesity Clinic at Geisinger Medical Center; conveniently enough, General Surgery and the Obesity Clinic share much the same space and support staff. My first meeting with him was two weeks pre-op for asssessment, evaluation, and scheduling; there was very little time for 'getting to know you.' My impression of him was that he was a very relaxed individual who cares for his patients and knows what he's doing. Once he had judged me suitable for lapthroscopic RnY, he went over everything he'd be doing in detail, giving me time to ask my questions and raise any concerns that I had. I wish there were more time to talk to him during my post-op evaluation appointments and to ask questions, and I also wish I were able to get to meet/know him earlier in my pre-op experience (several months of evaluation and counseling). I kept forgetting to ask about seeing a staple like what they put in me.

My post-op experience has been very good. The incisions heeled quickly and cleanly, with minimal lingering pain, which went away after about three weeks. Weight loss has been fairly steady, as long as I don't get careless with what I'm eating.

I was very impressed with Dr. Petrick, He answered all my questions before I got to ask. He is a new doctor at our hospital and I was a little worried about that but when I spoke to him he put all my worries at ease.He is new to our hospital but not to the procedure . He was practicing at a hospital in Pittsburg where the WLS rate is very high.
He explained the entire procedure , as well as what to expect after the surgery, risks as well. He informed me if after I come home there is any problems even a pain that doesnt feel right to call him immediatly. He said he will know any arising problem unlike a doctor not familiar with this surgery. He told me if it's 2a.m. and I have a problem he will answer my call, only being out of the state would make a difference and then his assoc. will be there for his patients.
Also all other surgeries before me have been done open, and Dr.Petrick is a specialist in minamally invasive surgery so I feel very lucky to have him as my surgeon as I will be having Lap now.
