Dr. Castellanos is sweet and caring, but also brutally honest. He is a perfectionist when it comes to doing surgery on people, and has an excellent reputation throughout eastern Pa. He stresses support long-term and lifestyle changes for life. He even attends monthly supports groups for his patients.
I liked Dr. Castellanos from the first time we met. He made it clear from the beginning that he had to be certain I was a good candidate for this surgery. I liked that. He did not just rush me through the process. His office staff is incredible! Always willing to spend the time and answer any questions you may have. rnDr. Castellanos gives monthly support meetings that are fantastic. I can't wait to get back to one. He and his staff have stressed the importance of nutrition after surgery as well as before. rnDr. Castellanos was honest with me about the surgery risks from the very first meeting. He does not cover up the possible side effects. My health advocate from my insurance company was really impressed with the knowledge I received from him.rnI would rate Dr. Castellanos as a 10 for a surgeon! No other Doctor could have done it better. My surgery (RNY) was totally pain free. The only pain I ever had was from gas, not the actually surgery. I'm soooooooo impressed! I suggest anyone considering this surgery to please contact him. You will not be disappointed!
Dr."C" performed my surgery on August 30th. To date, I have lost 127 lbs(352/225). Of my weight lost Dr"C" takes credit for 0% of it. He puts you at ease during office visits and your stay in the hospital. His staff, especially Marilyn, make scheduling appointments, finding out about the support groups, nutrition etc...very easy to understand. My overall opinion og Dr."C" and his staff is---WOW!!! WHAT A GREAT CHOICE I MADE!
I have not met with him yet. I was referred to dr. Castellanos by Dr.Barry Mann, who was affiliated with Medical college of Pa., which is in the act of closing down. So after i have undergone a year of tests in preparation for the surgery, Dr. Mann is leaving and going to another hospital.
I will met with Dr. Castellanos on Friday.7/30/04. So I cannot say much about Dr.Castellanos yet, but I do value over anything else, although, I do like a Dr. who knows how to treat a lady.
I have met Dr. Castellanos. He has a wondeful
bedside manner, he explains things very plain and matter of fact, he asks you do you have any questions or do you understand the procedure. He is patient and kind and good looking too.His office staff was very kind and patient.
I did not find anything I did not like about him or his office staff. My original surgery was sheduled for 8/17/04, but a glitch in my insurance surfaced so my surgery was rescheduled for 9/27/04, he staff rearanged my preop testing and second surgery date , no proble I did not speak of after care other than the fact that I would be in the hospital for four days, I just assumed I would be in aftercare.I will contact the Dr. and ask about specific after care policy.
Dr. Castellanos reutirated 2or3 times all the risks of the surgery and asked if I had any questions or fears.
I would rate him 90 out of 100, but this is before surgery:)
I must say that I care more about surgical competence, bad bedside manner will only hurt my feelings and not my body, although I would like both.
