Dr. Castellanos is an excellent surgeon. He and his staff guided me through the process until I was prepared to have weight loss surgery. I am now almost three years post op and I have maintained my weight loss. This success story is due to the education and training as well as the support of the group.

My experience with Dr C. has been excellent from initial consultation through surgery and follow-up. He makes it clear that he is interested in a long term relationship to help you get more healthy, not just performing the surgery. My first visit he was honest enough to say that he was not sure that any of the procedures were right for me because of my other medical issues. It was hard to hear. However what has really earned my respect and gratitude is the fact that it was not the end. Dr C and his team stayed in touch with me. Maryellen, the nurse coordinator, was very helpful They continued to investigate options that would work for me. Ultimately I was approved for VSG. The surgery went well. Seventeen months later and more than 90 pounds lost I continue to follow up with both Dr C and Kristin the nutritionist .

Pretty unprofessional, I heard him talking about my weight with the nurse outside the room and he was saying not so nice things such as "I didn't care" and that he didn't want to help me.

Dr C, rocks!......he is a wonderful, gentle caring doctor and makes you feel very comfortable. Him and his team are and were amazing.

Dr. C. is truly heaven sent not only is he a great surgeon he's a friend. i love the fact that he's so hands on with his patients i would reccomend him to anyone he is the BEST!!!

I am told that the staff at Dr Castellanos's office thought I may never have the operation because of all the cancellations and delays that I had. What they did not know that I was so convinced by Dr Castellanos and his approach and manner that I was certain that it would happen. He has a brilliant program supported by great staff. Mary Ellen was really key in getting me to the finish line. I felt I was always kept fully apprised of the benefits, the risks, and the possible side effects. His bedside manner made one very nervous person a whole lot calmer when the moment arrived. I do find it hard to critcise because I actually feel very positive about the whole thing.
One thing that particularly impressed me in the runup to the operation was to experience the support group which he attends each month.

When I first met Dr.C ( thats what we call him)I thought my god he's handsome, and after getting to know him better,not only is he Handsome but very Professional,kind & very hands on. His staff is also very Professional and a pleasure to be around they make you feel as if your family & not a Patient.There's nothing negative I can say about him because he truely is a great doctor.I dont know how he does it but he always manage to make it to every support group meeting to greet old & new Patients. sometimes he brings his family which I think is awesome.To future patient I would like to let you know that your in good hands cause Dr.C will do everything in his power to make sure that your surgery is a success, and to make sure your happy with your results. He talks with every Doctor/ Specialist that will have a say in your surgery before,during and after. and after every office visit with him he always & I mean always reminds you to stay focused, stay on track and to attend the support group meetings.because he truely wants you to be a success. he always stress that this is a big decision that comes with some hugh risks that should not be taken lightly and that this decision should be well thought out. because this decision should be about you & not you tryna please someone else. He gets a 100% rate from me because His Surgical Competence & Mannerism where beyond Excellent.

Dr. C is so funny and honest. I was very comfortable with him and still am. His office staff not so good. I think that they don't have enough information about the benefits of the surgery, Nutrition, products and insurance. What I really want to say that I believe the staff will get better but it has no reflection on how remarkable that Dr. C is as a surgeon. He gets an A+++ for covering all areas about the surgery before, after and during.

Dr. Castellanos not only specializes in this field because his heart is in it, but he is a perfectionist with his surgical technique. This isn't just my opinion, but the opinion of the hospital staff and xray technician who commented that he always does a \"pretty pouch\". He is confident that obesity is an addiction and treats it as such. Doesn't sugar coat anything, but is also sensitive and patient. Can't say enough good things. Only problem now is he is becoming so popular that he may be difficult to schedule with without a wait.

Dr Castellanos is a very down to earth guy and has a great bedside manner. He doesn't sugar coat anything, he tells you like it is. He's very easy to talk to as far as your concerns and questions. He's very professional but after a few he visits warms up and becomes more laid back. He is very light handed and precise as far as band filling goes. His office staff are all very caring and knowledgable. You can almost always get Marilyn on the phone, if not she's prompt with the return call along with the answer to your question. Lori is Dr C's nurse and \"right hand man\". Again, very professional and very knowledgeable, mainly because she's an RN but also because she too is WLS patient. I am lucky to be under their care and have them on my side. :)
