Dr. Amy Olson performed my Laparascopic Gastric Bypass on November 2, 2005 at Womack Army Medical Center on Ft. Bragg, NC. I was really unsure about having the surgery, until I met her. She appeared to be much younger than she was, based on her energy level and enthusiasm. She is very professional and full of knowledge. She doesnt try to impress you and is very matter of factish, in a good way. She demands total and complete cooperation from her medical team and her patients. Making sure that everyone is on the same page. From the receptionist to the Nutritionist to the Head Nurse, everyone in her clinic is informative, helpful, knowledgeable in their field, and looking out for all the patients best interest. Dr. Olson's dedication to success is very comforting. She insists that her patients are well-informed and follow very very strict pre-op and post-op guides. In order to help her patients ability with meeting these pre and post requirements, she and her staff have a very liberal scheduling policy, you might as well call it open-doorish... There is always someone available to address your questions and concerns with. I would say as a medical team, her staff is very instrumental in each and every patients success. They are great at making you feel secure. The only things that her and I disagreed on was that she insisted that ALL her patients agree to receive blood if necessary, and also ALL her patients receive an Epidural prior to surgery. Of course I had to agree on the blood issue even though it went against every thing I believed in. I just prayed all went well, and I wouldn't end up needing it. And thank God I didnt need any blood because all went well. But the issue of the Epidural, well, I couldnt budge, and I explained I had 2 children naturally, and I would be knocked out for this surgery, and the pain afterwards, I could endure. She finally agreed and we were able to proceed. I love Dr. Olson with all my heart. And if I ever had to have any type of surgery again in the future I wish she could lead my surgical team, no matter what the issue. I have complete and total faith in her capabilities in any operating room. She is by far the GREATEST!!

The entire surgical team at Womack Army Hospital is fantastic. I have always felt welcome to ask any questions, and they never made me feel like a second class citizen. They are genuinely concerned about each and every patient.rnThe entire staff is great. I have never had any trouble with any person in this clinic at all. rnThe care has been impeccable and the information they give you is wonderful. I feel very informed of what I am about to do. I have been told of any and all complications and I am currently preparing myself for the surgery.rnI would recommend this surgery clinic to anyone.rnI would have to say that both surgical competence, bedside manner are both fantastic with this team.
