Wes Powell, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Dr. Powell was very nice and informative. I felt comfortable telling him about myself and my medical/diet history. His office was very modern. His staff very friendly and informative. You will have to attend a seminar prior to getting an appointment to see him. At the seminar they give you all the information needed to make a decision. My experience with him was very positive and I highly recommend him for anyone seeking this type of surgery.
3/2/03--Dr. Powell is a compasionate and caring man and has all the time in the world for this big chicken and my many questions. Surgery is a week away and I trust him with my care which says a whole lot!
3/16/03--When Dr. Powell greeted me the morning of surgery the first thing he did was held my hand. Well that meant a lot to me and trust me I hung on... The surgery was uneventful due to I believe is the expertise of this doctor. He visited me each day I was in the hospital and his friendly manner was so appreciated.
Overall I give Dr. Powell a 15 on a scale of 1-10.
He was attentive on the first visit. He explained the procedure. He asked me about my diet history. He assured me that I was not a failure and that support was there along the way. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Powell. My boss is a surgeon at Huntinggon Memorial Hospital and says that Powell's surgical skills are excellent. I feel that I am in good hands.
My first impression of Dr Powell was that he was a very caring, interested doctor and that he really knew what he was talking about. He was completely honest with me and I really appreciated that.
My impression of Dr. Powell has only improved. I have the utmost respect for him and am very thankful that my family doctor referred me to him.
His office staff is kind and caring and very quick to answer questions and handle paperwork.
I love Dr. Powell and his staff. They gave my life back to me with very little effort, pain or problems.
I rate the Dr and his staff on a scale of 1 -10 a 15...

There is nothing that I don't like about Dr. Powell and his office staff.

Yes, Dr. Powell has a structured aftercare program that you must adhere to.
Risks of surgery is addressed at length as the monthly symposium and during your consultation with Dr. Powell.
Surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful. Couldn't ask for a better surgeon.
On my first appointment, January 2, 2003, I was impressed with Dr. Powell's manner and his professionalism. He did not talk down to me and was most anxious to make sure that all of my questions and concerns were answered.
He is just a wonderful surgeon. I liked him the first time I met him, when I went to meet him with a friend that had just had the surgery.
His office staff is great. Debbie is wonderful.
He let me go to my own md up here in Newbury Park, because its 50 miles to Pasadena... she faxes him my blood work each time.
He told me everything I wanted to know before the surgery and was great after.
I had to stay an extra day, due to having a headache after surgery. That was no problem and was best for me.
I have nothing negative to say, all the dr.s were nice. I was in the hospital at Thanksgiving time.. so the hospital staff was great.. not to many patients.
My sugeon, Dr. Wes Powell is the most wonderful doctor I have ever encountered. He has the best "bedside manner" of any doctor or healthcare professional that I can remember. He is thorough, extremely skilled and above all gentle and caring. I would recommend this man to anyone and especially to my family, as he treats you as if you were a family member. He is truely a rare commodity in the healthcare community and, as any of his patients will probably say, he is someone I trust with my life.
