Barker Bariatric Center Bariatric Center
I work in a hospital and know of Dr. Barker's reputation. He is a superb surgeon. My first impression is that he is very busy, which speaks good and bad. He is good about answering questions, you must prepare your questions in advance, because there is no time to waste. Too much time is spent waiting in the office. I consider my time valuable too. Everyone in the office is professional, friendly and seemingly kind. I guess the bottom line for me is that I want the best whenever it comes to surgical knowledge and ability. I think Dr. Barker is on the A list, both capable and knowledgeable.
I just love Dr. Barker, he is a great doctor and very easy to talk to.rnHis office staff is very helpful and nice.rnHe takes the time to listen to you and will answer any question you have. He is very meticulous about before and after surgery care of yourself.rnI have only one problem and that is with the wait time in his waiting room. It does take a long time to be seen, but you can have that problem with any doctors office. At least he has comfortable big chairs to sit in and you get to watch movies while you wait.
When I began my search and journey, I did extensive research on doctors. I ultimately chose Dr. Barker because of his extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery.rnrnOnce I met with him, I was confident that he was the surgeon I wanted to do my LapBand. He was very thorough and took his time in explaining what would be done. At this time, he had just gone out on his own, and didn't really have any aftercare program. My only complaint would be that I was kind of on my own after surgery, not knowing what was normal, etc. My understanding is that he has a better program now.rnrnHis office staff is wonderful to work with. They are very helpful and kind in what must be a very hectic job!
Ya'll... I went for my fist consultation yesterday (5/15/07) and I must say that I am \"REALLY SCARED\" of having this surgery.. I mean I want to have it but I'm just scared of what other's say about the gastric bypass on the internet. Please help me and shed some light on this. rnrnI appreciate your comments.rnrnSincerely, rnrnEmmarn
Dr. Barker and his staff are very friendly and make your visit comfortable. I have already made a referral based on my experiences. Dr. Barker leaves no stone unturned, he is very thorough and allows enough time for questions and answers.rnrnDr Barker and Staff, rnrnThank you for the gift card! I'm down two sizes in jeans, thanks to you I can go buy a new pair.
My first impression of Dr. Barker was that he was handsome!! He made me feel very at ease and comfortable in his presence. I started out feeling shame and embarassment. But, almost immediately, he made me feel comfortable and safe. He is a very busy surgeon. Very busy. But, when he was in with me, I felt like he was truly in there with me. Before surgery, when I saw him, he encouraged me that everything would be great. And it was. The office staff are all very helpful and kind. You do have to wait a while sometimes for your appointment. Just very busy. If I had to least favorite aspect of his care, it would be the wait time in the office. But, it is worth it when you have the best surgeon. He provides very detailed expectations, requirements, and aftercare diet information. He also provides information about support groups and encourages the patient to get involved in one. I wish that Nutritionist support would be a part of his aftercare program. However, I am an adult and can find one of my own. Just feel it might help to have it in that. He went over all the risks very honestly and provided written information as to his complication records, etc. He is an awesome surgeon. He is also a kind man. Of course, I think surgical competence is critical. Fortunately, my surgeon had impeccable expertise and a great bedside manner too. The best of both worlds. He is the best!!!
Dr. Dirk Rodriguez is an awesome Doctor, he doesn't sugar coat anything which is great. The educational class that he has you take before even meeting the Dr. is well worth the price. The class gives you alot of information and I was lucky enough to take the class with someone that just had the surgery about 8 months ago..NO LONGER IN PRACTICE IN THE DALLAS AREA. rnrnrnDr Wade Barker is my followup surgeon and seems to be very caring and knowledgable surgeon rn
My surgeon has an incredible 'bedside manner'...he is extrememly thourough, and spent a significant amount of time with me while I was in my consultation. My impression of him has not changed...it only got better after my surgery.rnThe staff was fine...but, I particularly like Irlene and Diane! They are wonderful...and very very caring and helpful! rnrnI can not testify after care with Dr. Barker b/c 3mos. PostOp we moved to NYC from TX. But, I enjoyed my care from him...and he obviously did a wonderful job - because everything when off without a hitch! I am thankful for this.....
Dr wade barkerrnmy first meeting with dr barker i felt that he was a very good sergeon because he did not try to push me into choosing what he wanted he did make me understand the pros and cons for me with each surgery and what he felt might be best for me... but ultimatley the choice was mine .... he is a very skilled sergeon that really cares about his patients and will tell you the truth is very straight forward ..... i was very comfortable with dr barker doing my surgery.... i trusted him completly
When I first met Dr. Barker he was dressed very expensive like as if he was a plastic surgeon for the stars not for agverage people like me. He was very professional and very fast his office was full so I'm thinking that he wanted to rushe me to get the the next person and this was the first apointment we didnt even know if the insurance was going to cover the procedure. I have to say he was very nice and he has done many surgeries for many fellow coworker and I have not heard any complains.
