Valeriu E. Andrei MD Bariatric Associates Bariatric Center
Dr Andrei has been like no surgeon I ever met. During my decision process, I met with Dr Andrei for a consult. The amount of time he spent answering my question, addressing my fears, and informing me of the options/pros/cons was impressive. It is not just a surgery at his practice but an entire program. All of his staff is encouraging and inspiring. After the surgery, my impression has not waivered. He even called me personnally on Father's Day to check how I was doing and answer any of my questions.
It is hard to identify his best quality, as I would say I was impressed with his bed side manner and his surgical competency. He is a very cautious dortor, and requires a significant amount of testing before surgery. At times it felt exessive. But for me, I was happy with his cautious approach as I have a young daughter to think about!
I liked Dr. Andrei from the first time I meet him. He made me feel comfortabe. I felt that if I were to have this surgery, I would want him to be the surgeon. His years of experience and the amount of operations he had did have a great impact on my decision.
I would highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.
I espically like the fact that he and office staff are concerned about my well being after surgery. They call twice a day and want an update on how I am doing, and I think that is wonderfull.
I am please with the whole overall attitude of the staff and D. Andrei.
Risks of the durgery was addressed.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Dr. Andrei a "10".
I had my surgery a week ago and I am feeling stronger and better each day. I know in the near future I will feel GREAT and I have Dr. Andrei to thank for that.
Dr. Andrei is very professional and his staff is terrific! They are in constant contact with you from before the surgery to after, letting you know what is happening all the time.
I had my surgery on June 10, 2010, and the procedure was fine, but I had a nightmare with the anesthesia. The anesthesiologist gave me so many medications, I felt "out of it" all day. I was nauseaus and felt terrible until it wore off.
The next day I felt great, and only had minor abdominal pain from the surgery.
I would rate Dr. Andrei and his staff a "10 out of 10".
Before even having my surgery. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Andrie and his support staff. We had monthly meetings with the nutritionist (Pam), who educated us on our various surgeries, just to make us feel a little less anxious. When I met Dr. Andrei he was very warm and made you feel like you were in good hands. After my surgery Dr. Andrei as well as his staff continued to make me feel very important. They checked on me daily with phone calls and weekly visits for 4 weeks. My experience with them was great. I would recommend him to anyone who is thinking about this type of surgery.
I first started this process of Gastric Bypass in Jan of 2010. I knew right away when I visited the office of Dr. Andrei it would be a great success. The staff is great pre op and post op. Myself and my family were highly impressed of the doctors care and ease of communication. After surgery Dr. Andrei called my house several times to check up on me, it is rare to find a staff that cares about its patients the way this office does. I would recommend this office and doctor to anyone thinking of having bariatric surgery.
My first impression about Dr. Andrei was that he was very professional but also personable. He made it clear that he was gonna do what was best for me, but also wanted my opinion about things. His office staff have been very helpful and nice throughout the entire process. Someone checks in with me atleast once a day everyday to make sure that im doing ok and to make sure i don't need anything. I rate him a 10 overall. I would recomend him to my family and friends. Dr. Andrei and his staff have made this experience much easier and better than i originally thought it was going to be or could be.
The day I found Dr. Andrei was the luckiest day of my life. I didn't know it then, but this man has become, not only my surgeon, but my friend. He is always there when I need him and I can contact him whatever the hour. Dr. Andrei did my gastric bypass surgery on March 15, 2002. At that time I weighed 332 pounds and was in poor health. I was in congestive heart failure and had extremely high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and a variety of other problems. Dr. Andrei made sure I was in optimum condition and then operated on me. I lost a total of 150 pounds and maintained that loss until a car accident in 2006 (not my fault) caused me much neck pain for which I ultimately required surgery and another accident in 2008 (again not our fault-my husband was driving) and I was terribly hurt. I was on disability for periods of time, lost much time from work, spent lots of time in bed and the recliner and, hence, went to the refrigerator a lot for easy items to eat and ultimately gained 40 pounds. I went back to Dr. Andrei embarrassed. He did not criticize me at all. We discussed all options and I was scheduled for all pre-surgical testing. My insurance approved the procedure we agreed upon which was a revision to my original bypass. I had the revision on February 4, 2010 and since that time have lost the 40 pounds gained, plus 17 more pounds as of today, May 30, 2010. Dr. Andrei and his nutritionist, Pamela, are my biggest cheerleaders. They make me feel special everytime I walk in the door. The rest of his staff are awesome also. They all make you feel like you're home when you walk in the door.
Dr. Andrei has great bedside manner. He was helpful and knowledgable during the pre-surgery process. All of the office members are great to work with. They are on call for any questions at any time. You never feel like you are alone. Aftercare is a very important part of the process. The office really guides you through and makes sure you are on track. My surgery was 2 weeks ago and I feel great! I hope the rest of my journey is just as pleasant.
Doctor Andrei has been a great mantor for me. He has shown that he is willing to do what evr is necessary to help me. Even on the day of my surgery, when unforseen problems arose he did what was in my best intrest to make the outcome positive for me. He has been their for me before my surgery, by working with me to achieve my goals. he has also been their after my surgery, by clling me every few days and checking up on me, and answering my calls with questions at all crazy hours.
MY FRIST IMPRESSION OF HIM WAS HE WAS NICE, UNDERSTANDING AND HE EXPLAIN EVERYTHING IN AWAY YOU UNDERSTAND. MY IMPRESSION DIDN'T CHANGE HE REMAIND THE SAME. HIS STAFF ARE THE BEST, CAN'T SAY ANYTHING BAB ABOUT THEM, LOVE THEM. IF YOU WANT A DOCTOR AND A STAFF THAT CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR WELL BEING THEN, THIS IS THE DOCTOR. THEY CALL ME EVERYDAY TO SEE HOW I AM DOING AND IF I HAVE ANY CONCERN, I DON'T HAVE TO CALL THE OFFICE SOMETIMES THEY CALL ME TWICE A DAY( IN THE MORNING AND IN THE EVENING).
AFTER I MY SURGERY, I AM IN THE OFFICE TWICE A WEEK, I CAN ADDRESS MY CONCERNS AND THEY WILL TELL ME OF ANY RISK. THEY ALSO GIVE YOU BOOKS TO READ AND WEBSITE YOU CAN GO ON LIKE obesityheld and realize.com. ON A SCALE FROM 1-10, I WOULD GIVE HIM A 10 OR 100%.
BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER WERE GREAT.
