Dr. Perez is so nice, he is very soft spoken, Young but, very knowledgeable. I have talked to another patient who sought him out because he was her surgeon for another surgery she had. She had excellent things to say about him, and I was covinced I chose the right Doctor as well.
He answered all my questions with no hesitation.
He is an amazing surgeon. He takes his time and is extremly professional.
My impression of him only got better after i met him.
He is very honest about possible risks.
After surgery he came right out and informed my husband on how I did in surgery and where he was to go to meet up with me following my time in recovery.
His bedside manner was wonderful. He is attentive and understanding, but most of all compassionate.
Dr. Perez is better then a 10!!! I would highly recommend him if your looking for a surgeon down here in Fl. A radiologist at Holy Cross Hospital told us to her knowledge she has never seen any of his patients have a leak in the surgery he has done.
Did I mention he was cute and looks adorable in those scrubs...LOL

My first impression of my doctor was oh my goodness you are so cute. My impression stayed the same he was and still is so cute but I respect him for being a doctor and a human being...His office staff is great they always answer all my questions in a timely manner. I did not have anything that I disliked about him. Future Patients should know that Dr. Perez is a very down to earth guy. Dr. Perez highly recommends aftercare support group which is a great program. Dr. Perez does tell you about the risks of the surgery and the statistics. I would rate Dr. Perez and his staff a 5 star award. And last but not least Dr. Perez has great surgical competence and also great bedside manner.

10/04/01 I spoke with my surgeon today for the first time. He is in the Broward for Obesity surgery with Dr Marema. He was very informative, and asured me that my size didn't scare him in the least. He said he had performed the procedure on some that were in the 700 pound range. He did tell me with my weight being as heavy as it is , that ther is a higher risk for complications. They are taking every precaution to see that we have no problems. I think I have been poked and prodded everywhere possible over the last month. They will know every inch of my body before I ever make it to the operating room. This is actually a good thing, because you know they are concerned about my welfare and not another dollar!
The Broward center for Obesity has a great program both before and after the surgery. They make it mandatory for you to attend two support group meetings. I have to admit I thought it would be a waste of my time to drive to Ft Lauderdale for the meetings, but they are very informative and you see a lot of success stories sitting all around you.
They have a $600.00 program fee that covers the after surgery program. You have the full support of the doctors and their staff. They have nutrition classes, vitamin programs, massage therapy, psychologists available to help you deal with this new life, ect...
The staff is very supportive and caring. They will listen to you vent your frustrations, laugh, cry (my wife)(thanks Cary),jump thru hoops to help you meet insurance deadlines (thanks to everyone who helped), and they will also share their personal stories about their journey thru weight loss surgery! I just can't say enough nice things about this center so far... look forward to updating once surgery is complete!

7/12/01 - I went for my first visit to Dr. Maremas office on 7/6/01 for a nursing consultation and I am still waiting for them to submmit my request for insurance approval. They are very busy, a good indicator that this doctor must be a good one but I didn't think it would take this long.

8/13/01 - Violet at Dr. Marema's office called me today to let me know that they submitted my paperwork to insurance company this morning and that I was APPROVED!! I don't know what those girls at Dr. Marema's office did to get this kind of response from BCBS but they are GREAT!!!

8/29/01 - I called Dr. Marema's office and elected to try and get a sooner surgery date by swithing to Dr. Marema's associate Dr. Perez. I haven't met either doctor yet, but am scheduled to have my pre-op on 9/6/01 with open surgery scheduled on 9/10/01 with Dr. Perez.

Now I'm gonna go crazy trying to get everything done in a week and a half. But God willing I will make it all happen. Thank You Violet at Dr. Marema's office for being so kind to me and never making me think I was a bother, even when I know I was.

Dr. Perez has been given a very special Gift from God. My surgery on 9/10/01 was a complete success with no complications and Dr. Perez's surgical technique's has left me with the smallest, sraightest scar line from any open surgery I have ever seen. I actually think in a years time it will be virtually unnoticable. My husband is actually amaized at how great it looks after only 3 short weeks post-op. I am so happy to have had Dr. Perez as my Surgeon he's tops in my opinion.

He visited me daily in the hospital answered any and all questions and never once did he appear to be rushed or to busy to speak with me during these visits. He's really just a very nice man who cares and worries about you.

I met Dr. Perez on Aug.23d his staff was great. A busy office, everyone sharing stories in the lobby. I finaly met him and he was very nice, he answered all of my questions. Make sure you have questions written down because you will be so excited you'll forget what you want to ask him. Most of your questions wil be answered prior to meeting the surgeon. You have to attend information group meetings. nurse Cox did a great job at that. Also you will have a nutritional class. I am learning something new everyday. Getting nervous now ony 1 more week till I'm a loser. Can't wait. I would like to thank all at the office for there help.

I met Dr. Perez a couple of weeks ago. He was very nice and took his time with me. He also took time out to answer my mother's questions, and she had many. Overall, I was pleased with him.

Dr. Perez struck me like a very caring person. He greated me with a big smile and made me feel very comfortable.

The office staff is extremly friendly and loving. I am always greted with a smile and a hello every time I stop by.

I have a friend who had her surgery done by a doctor in Miami. She was not properly informed about her procedure and has trouble getting in contact with her doctor. I spoke with a nurse at my doctors office and asked them if she could possible attend support group with me since she was not able to get help in Miami. My doctors office openly invited her in with open arms to participate with my support group. This goes a long way to demonstrate to what level my doctors office wants WLS patients to suceed.

I really like Dr Perez, he is a partner of Dr Marema. He is very friendly and willing to spend all the time needed. He and the other Dr w/Broward Center for Obesity, Dr Marema Dr Cox and of course Dr Perez, are wonderful.
